Asymptotic multiplicities and Monge-Ampère masses (with an appendix by Sébastien Boucksom)

Ein, Lazarsfeld and Smith asked whether `equality' holds between two Samuel type asymptotic multiplicities for a graded system of zero-dimensional ideals on a smooth complex variety. We find a connection of this question to complex analysis by showing that the `equality' is equivalent to a particular case of Demailly's strong continuity property on the convergence of residual Monge-Ampère masses under approximation of plurisubharmonic functions. On the other hand, in an appendix of this paper, Sébastien Boucksom gives an algebraic proof of the `equality' in general, using the intersection theory of b-divisors. We then use these to show that Demailly's strong continuity holds for a new important class of plurisubharmonic functions.

Higher Lelong numbers and convex geometry

We prove the reversed Alexandrov-Fenchel inequality for mixed Monge-Ampère masses of plurisubharmonic functions, which generalizes a result of Demailly and Pham. As applications to convex geometry, this gives a complex analytic proof of the reversed Alexandrov-Fenchel inequality for mixed covolumes, which generalizes recent results in convex geometry of Kaveh-Khovanskii, Khovanskii-Timorin, Milman-Rotem and R. Schneider on reversed (or complemented) Brunn-Minkowski and Alexandrov-Fenchel inequalities. Also for toric plurisubharmonic functions in the Cegrell class, we confirm Demailly's conjecture on the convergence of higher Lelong numbers under the canonical approximation.

Jumping numbers of analytic multiplier ideals (with an appendix by Sébastien Boucksom)

We extend the study of jumping numbers of multiplier ideals due to Ein-Lazarsfeld-Smith-Varolin from the algebraic case to the case of general plurisubharmonic functions. While many properties from Ein-Lazarsfeld-Smith-Varolin are shown to generalize to the plurisubharmonic case, important properties such as periodicity and discreteness do not hold any more. Previously only two particular examples with a cluster point (i.e. failure of discreteness) of jumping numbers were known, due to Guan-Li and to Ein-Lazarsfeld-Smith-Varolin respectively. We generalize them to all toric plurisubharmonic functions in dimension 2 by characterizing precisely when cluster points of jumping numbers exist and by computing all those cluster points. This characterization suggests that clustering of jumping numbers is a rather frequent phenomenon. In particular, we obtain uncountably many new such examples.

Equivalence of plurisubharmonic singularities and Siu-type metrics

We show by an example that the (equivalence class of) singularity of a plurisubharmonic function cannot be determined by the data of its Lelong numbers, in a nontrivial sense. Such an example is provided by Siu-type singular hermitian metrics associated to an effective line bundle. We also show that a Siu-type metric has analytic singularities if and only if the section ring of the line bundle is finitely generated.

Skoda division of line bundle sections and pseudo-division

We first present a Skoda type division theorem for holomorphic sections of line bundles on a projective variety which is essentially the most general, compared to previous ones. It is derived from Varolin's theorem as a corollary. Then we revisit Geometric Effective Nullstellensatz and observe that even this general Skoda division is far from sufficient to yield stronger Geometric Effective Nullstellensatz such as `vanishing order $1$ division', which could be used for finite generation of section rings by the basic finite generation lemma. To resolve this problem, we develop a notion of pseudo-division and show that it can replace the usual division in the finite generation lemma. We also give a vanishing order 1 pseudo-division result when the line bundle is ample.
