Discrete-time maximally superintegrable systems and deformed symmetry algebras: the Calogero-Moser case

We determine the complete structure of the symmetry algebras associated with the N-body Calogero-Moser system and its maximally superintegrable discretization. We prove that the discretization naturally leads to a nontrivial deformation of the continuous symmetry algebra, with the discretization parameter playing the rôle of a deformation parameter. This phenomenon illustrates how discrete superintegrable systems can be viewed as natural sources of deformed polynomial algebraic structures. As a byproduct of these results, we also reveal a connection between the above-mentioned symmetry algebras and the Bell polynomials, as a consequence of the trace properties.

Polynomial algebra from the Lie algebra reduction chain $\mathfrak{su}(4) \supset \mathfrak{su}(2) \times \mathfrak{su}(2)$: The supermultiplet model

The supermultiplet model, based on the reduction chain $\mathfrak{su}(4) \supset \mathfrak{su}(2) \times \mathfrak{su}(2)$, is revisited through the lens of commutants within universal enveloping algebras of Lie algebras. From this analysis, a collection of twenty polynomials up to degree nine emerges from the commutant associated with the $\mathfrak{su}(2) \times \mathfrak{su}(2)$ subalgebra. This study is conducted in the Poisson (commutative) framework using the Lie-Poisson bracket associated with the dual of the Lie algebra under consideration. As the main result, we obtain the polynomial Poisson algebra generated by these twenty linearly independent and indecomposable polynomials, with five elements being central. This incorporates polynomial expansions up to degree seventeen in the Lie algebra generators. We further discuss additional algebraic relations among these polynomials, explicitly detailing some of the lower-order ones. As a byproduct of these results, we also show that the recently introduced 'grading method' turns out to be essential for deriving the Poisson bracket relations when the degree of the expansions becomes so high that standard approaches are no longer applicable, due to computational limitations. These findings represent a further step toward the systematic exploration of polynomial algebras relevant to nuclear models.

Subalgebra chains and nuclear physics: Commutant approach and construction of polynomial algebras

In this paper, we review a new approach to study subalgebra chains $\mathfrak{g} \supset \mathfrak{g}'$ in the context of nuclear physics. This approach does not rely on explicit realizations as bosons or differential operators. We rely on the enveloping algebra, the notion of commutant $C_{U(\mathfrak{g})}(\mathfrak{g}^{\prime})$ and $\mathfrak{g}^{\prime}$-invariant polynomials. This approach builds on those $\mathfrak{g}^{\prime}$-invariant polynomials and finding the underlying finitely generated polynomial algebras. Those algebraic structures can then provide further information on sets of labeling operators. Another aspect of this method consists in exploiting the dual space and the symmetric algebra. Being independent of explicit realizations, it endows the algebraic relations with a universal character. We review the chains associated with $\mathfrak{su}(3) \supset \mathfrak{so}(3)$, $\mathfrak{so}(5) \supset \mathfrak{su}(2) \times \mathfrak{u}(1)$, $\mathfrak{su}(4) \supset \mathfrak{su}(2) \times \mathfrak{su}(2)$. Those chains are known as the Elliott, Seniority and Supermultiplet. We also provide new results and insights into the subalgebra chain $\mathfrak{so}(5) \supset \mathfrak{so}(3)$ of the Surfon model. For all chains, we present the related commutant, $\mathfrak{g}^{\prime}$-invariant polynomials and Poisson algebras.

Construction of polynomial algebras from intermediate Casimir invariants of Lie algebras

We propose a systematic procedure to construct polynomial algebras from intermediate Casimir invariants arising from (semisimple or non-semisimple) Lie algebras $\mathfrak{g}$. In this approach, we deal with explicit polynomials in the enveloping algebra of $\mathfrak{g} \oplus \mathfrak{g} \oplus \mathfrak{g}$. We present explicit examples to show how these Lie algebras can display different behaviours and can lead to Abelian algebras, quadratic algebras or more complex structures involving higher order nested commutators. Within this framework, we also demonstrate how virtual copies of the Levi factor of a Levi decomposable Lie algebra can be used as a tool to construct "copies" of polynomial algebras. Different schemes to obtain polynomial algebras associated to algebraic Hamiltonians have been proposed in the literature, among them the use of commutants of various type. The present approach is different and relies on the construction of intermediate Casimir invariants in the enveloping algebra $\mathcal{U}(\mathfrak{g} \oplus \mathfrak{g} \oplus \mathfrak{g})$.

The classical Darboux III oscillator: factorization, Spectrum Generating Algebra and solution to the equations of motion

In a recent paper the so-called Spectrum Generating Algebra (SGA) technique has been applied to the N-dimensional Taub-NUT system, a maximally superintegrable Hamiltonian system which can be interpreted as a one-parameter deformation of the Kepler-Coulomb system. Such a Hamiltonian is associated to a specific Bertrand space of non-constant curvature. The SGA procedure unveils the symmetry algebra underlying the Hamiltonian system and, moreover, enables one to solve the equations of motion. Here we will follow the same path to tackle the Darboux III system, another maximally superintegrable system, which can indeed be viewed as a natural deformation of the isotropic harmonic oscillator where the flat Euclidean space is again replaced by another space of non-constant curvature.

The classical Taub-Nut System: factorization, spectrum generating algebra and solution to the equations of motion

The formalism of SUSYQM (SUperSYmmetric Quantum Mechanics) is properly modified in such a way to be suitable for the description and the solution of a classical maximally superintegrable Hamiltonian System, the so-called Taub-Nut system, associated with the Hamiltonian: $$ \mathcal{H}_η({\mathbf{q}}, {\mathbf{p}}) = \mathcal{T}_η({\mathbf{q}}, {\mathbf{p}}) + \mathcal{U}_η({\mathbf{q}}) = \frac{|{\mathbf{q}}| {\mathbf{p}}^2}{2m(η+ |{\mathbf{q}}|)} - \frac{k}{η+ |{\mathbf{q}}|} \quad (k>0, η>0) \, .$$ In full agreement with the results recently derived by A. Ballesteros et al. for the quantum case, we show that the classical Taub-Nut system shares a number of essential features with the Kepler system, that is just its Euclidean version arising in the limit $η\to 0$, and for which a SUSYQM approach has been recently introduced by S. Kuru and J. Negro. In particular, for positive $η$ and negative energy the motion is always periodic; it turns out that the period depends upon $ η$ and goes to the Euclidean value as $η\to 0$. Moreover, the maximal superintegrability is preserved by the $η$-deformation, due to the existence of a larger symmetry group related to an $η$-deformed Runge-Lenz vector, which ensures that in $\mathbb{R}^3$ closed orbits are again ellipses. In this context, a deformed version of the third Kepler's law is also recovered. The closing section is devoted to a discussion of the $η<0$ case, where new and partly unexpected features arise.

Group Momentum Space and Hopf Algebra Symmetries of Point Particles Coupled to 2+1 Gravity

We present an in-depth investigation of the ${\rm SL}(2,\mathbb{R})$ momentum space describing point particles coupled to Einstein gravity in three space-time dimensions. We introduce different sets of coordinates on the group manifold and discuss their properties under Lorentz transformations. In particular we show how a certain set of coordinates exhibits an upper bound on the energy under deformed Lorentz boosts which saturate at the Planck energy. We discuss how this deformed symmetry framework is generally described by a quantum deformation of the Poincaré group: the quantum double of ${\rm SL}(2,\mathbb{R})$. We then illustrate how the space of functions on the group manifold momentum space has a dual representation on a non-commutative space of coordinates via a (quantum) group Fourier transform. In this context we explore the connection between Weyl maps and different notions of (quantum) group Fourier transform appeared in the literature in the past years and establish relations between them.
