Planar Legendrian $Θ$-graphs

We classify topologically trivial Legendrian $Θ$-graphs and identify the complete family of nondestabilizeable Legendrian realizations in this topological class. In contrast to all known results for Legendrian knots, this is an infinite family of graphs. We also show that any planar graph that contains a subdivision of a $Θ$-graph or $S^1 \vee S^1$ as a subgraph will have an infinite number of distinct, topologically trivial nondestabilizeable Legendrian embeddings. Additionally, we introduce two moves, vertex stabilization and vertex twist, that change the Legendrian type within a smooth isotopy class.

The total Thurston-Bennequin number of complete and complete bipartite Legendrian graphs

We study the Thurston-Bennequin number of complete and complete bipartite Legendrian graphs. We define a new invariant called the total Thurston-Bennequin number of the graph. We show that this invariant is determined by the Thurston-Bennequin numbers of 3-cycles for complete graphs and by the Thurston-Bennequin number of 4-cycles for complete bipartite graphs. We discuss the consequences of these results for K_4, K_5 and K_{3,3}.

Legendrian theta-graphs

In this article we give necessary and sufficient conditions for two triples of integers to be realized as the Thurston-Bennequin number and the rotation number of a Legendrian theta-graph with all cycles unknotted. We show that these invariants are not enough to determine the Legendrian class of a topologically planar theta-graph. We define the transverse push-off of a Legendrian graph and we determine its self linking number for Legendrian theta-graphs. In the case of topologically planar theta-graphs, we prove that the topological type of the transverse push-off is that of a pretzel link.

On Legendrian Graphs

We investigate Legendrian graphs in $(\R^3, ξ_{std})$. We extend the classical invariants, Thurston-Bennequin number and rotation number to Legendrian graphs. We prove that a graph can be Legendrian realized with all its cycles Legendrian unknots with $tb=-1$ and $rot=0$ if and only if it does not contain $K_4$ as a minor. We show that the pair $(tb, rot)$ does not characterize a Legendrian graph up to Legendrian isotopy if the graph contains a cut edge or a cut vertex. For the lollipop graph the pair $(tb,rot)$ determines two Legendrian classes and for the handcuff graph it determines four Legendrian classes.

Knotting and linking in the Petersen family

This paper focuses on the graphs in the Petersen family, the set of minor minimal intrinsically linked graphs. We prove there is a relationship between algebraic linking of an embedding and knotting in an embedding. We also present a more explicit relationship for the graph $K_{3,3,1}$ between knotting and linking, which relates the sum of the squares of linking numbers of links in the embedding and the second coefficient of the Conway polynomial of particular cycles in the embedding.
