Logarithmic sheaves of complete intersections

We define logarithmic tangent sheaves associated with complete intersections in connection with Jacobian syzygies and distributions. We analyse the notions of local freeness, freeness and stability of these sheaves. We carry out a complete study of logarithmic sheaves associated with pencils of quadrics and compute their projective dimension from the classical invariants such as the Segre symbol and new invariants (splitting type and degree vector) designed for the classification of irregular pencils. This leads to a complete classification of free (equivalently, locally free) pencils of quadrics. Finally we produce examples of locally free, non free pencils of surfaces in P3 of any degree k at least 3, answering (in the negative) a question of Calvo-Andrade, Cerveau, Giraldo and Lins Neto about codimension foliations on P3 .

On the projective dimension of some deformations of Weyl arrangements

We show that the logarithmic derivation module of (the cone of) the deformation A of a Weyl arrangement associated with a root system of simply laced type has projective dimension one if the deforming parameter ranges from -j to j+2. In addition, we give an explicit minimal free resolution when the root system is of type A3 and B2. Moreover, in the second case, we determine the jumping lines of maximal jumping order of the associated vector bundle. When the deforming parameter of A (respectively A') ranges from -k to k+j (respectively, from -k' to k'+j), with k different from k' and j at least 3, this allows to distinguish D0(A) from D0(A') shifted by 4(k'-k), even though these modules have the same graded Betti numbers.

Homological Projective Duality for Determinantal Varieties

In this paper we prove Homological Projective Duality for crepant categorical resolutions of several classes of linear determinantal varieties. By this we mean varieties that are cut out by the minors of a given rank of a n x m matrix of linear forms on a given projective space. As applications, we obtain pairs of derived-equivalent Calabi-Yau manifolds, and address a question by A. Bondal asking whether the derived category of any smooth projective variety can be fully faithfully embedded in the derived category of a smooth Fano variety. Moreover we discuss the relation between rationality and categorical representability in codimension two for determinantal varieties.

Rank two aCM bundles on the del Pezzo fourfold of degree $6$ and its general hyperplane section

In the present paper we completely classify locally free sheaves of rank $2$ with vanishing intermediate cohomology modules on the image of the Segre embedding $\mathbb{P}^2\times\mathbb{P}^2\subseteq\mathbb{P}^8$ and its general hyperplane sections. Such a classification extends similar already known results regarding del Pezzo varieties with Picard numbers $1$ and $3$ and dimension at least $3$.

Logarithmic bundles of deformed Weyl arrangements of type $A_2$

We consider deformations of the Weyl arrangement of type $A_2$, which include the extended Shi and Catalan arrangements. These last ones are well-known to be free. We study their sheaves of logarithmic vector fields in all other cases, and show that they are Steiner bundles. Also, we determine explicitly their unstable lines. As a corollary, some counter-examples to the shift isomorphism problem are given.

Rank two aCM bundles on the del Pezzo threefold with Picard number 3

Let k be an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0. A del Pezzo threefold F with maximal Picard number is isomorphic to P^1xP^1xP^1, where P^1 is the projective line over k. In the present paper we completely classify locally free sheaves of rank 2 with vanishing intermediate cohomology over such an F. Such a classification extends similar results proved by E. Arrondo and L. Costa regarding del Pezzo threefolds with Picard number 1.

Even and odd instanton bundles on Fano threefolds of Picard number 1

We consider an analogue of the notion of instanton bundle on the projective 3-space, consisting of a class of rank-2 vector bundles defined on smooth Fano threefolds X of Picard number one, having even or odd determinant according to the parity of K_X. We first construct a well-behaved irreducible component of their moduli spaces. Then, when the intermediate Jacobian of X is trivial, we look at the associated monads, hyperdeterminants and nets of quadrics. We also study one case where the intermediate Jacobian of X is non-trivial, namely when X is the intersection of two quadrics in P5, relating instanton bundles on X to vector bundles of higher rank on a the curve of genus 2 naturally associated with X.

Linear spaces of matrices of constant rank and instanton bundles

We present a new method to study 4-dimensional linear spaces of skew-symmetric matrices of constant co-rank 2, based on rank 2 vector bundles on P^3 and derived category tools. The method allows one to prove the existence of new examples of size 10x10 and 14x14 via instanton bundles of charge 2 and 4 respectively, and provides an explanation for what used to be the only known example (Westwick 1996). We also give an algorithm to construct explicitly a matrix of size 14 of this type.

A refined stable restriction theorem for vector bundles on quadric threefolds

Let E be a stable rank 2 vector bundle on a smooth quadric threefold Q in the projective 4-space P. We show that the hyperplanes H in P for which the restriction of E to the hyperplane section of Q by H is not stable form, in general, a closed subset of codimension at least 2 of the dual projective 4-space, and we explicitly describe the bundles E which do not enjoy this property. This refines a restriction theorem of Ein and Sols [Nagoya Math. J. 96, 11-22 (1984)] in the same way the main result of Coanda [J. reine angew. Math. 428, 97-110 (1992)] refines the restriction theorem of Barth [Math. Ann. 226, 125-150 (1977)].

On the derived category of the Cayley plane II

We find a full strongly exceptional collection for the Cayley plane OP2, the simplest rational homogeneous space of the exceptional group E6. This collection, closely related to the one given by the second author in [J. Algebra, 330:177-187, 2011], consists of 27 vector bundles which are homogeneous for the group E6, and is a Lefschetz collection with respect to the minimal equivariant embedding of OP2.

Vector bundles on Fano threefolds of genus 7 and Brill-Noether loci

Given a smooth prime Fano threefold $X$ of genus 7 we consider its homologically projectively dual curve $Γ$ and the natural integral functor $Φ^{!}:D^b(X) \to D^b(Γ)$. We prove that, for $d\geq 6$, $Φ^{!}$ gives a birational map from a component of the moduli scheme $M_X(2,1,d)$ of rank 2 stable sheaves on $X$ with $c_1=1$, $c_2=d$ to a generically smooth $2d-9$-dimensional component of the Brill-Noether variety $W^{2d-11}_{d-5,5d-24}$ of stable vector bundles on $Γ$ of rank $d-5$ and degree $5d-24$ with at least $2d-10$ sections. This map turns out to be an isomorphism for $d=6$, and the moduli space $M_X(2,1,6)$ is fine. For general $X$, this moduli space is a smooth irreducible threefold.

Moduli spaces of rank 2 ACM bundles on prime Fano threefolds

Given a smooth non-hyperelliptic prime Fano threefold X, we prove the existence of all rank 2 ACM vector bundles on X by deformation of semistable sheaves. We show that these bundles move in generically smooth components of the corresponding moduli space. We give applications to pfaffian representations of quartic threefolds in P^4 and cubic hypersurfaces of a smooth quadric of P^5.

Rank 2 stable sheaves with odd determinant on Fano threefolds of genus 9

By the description due to Mukai and Iliev, a smooth prime Fano threefold X of genus 9 is associated to a surface P(V), ruled over a smooth plane quartic Gamma. We use Kuznetsov's integral functor to study rank-2 stable sheaves on X with odd determinant. For each c_2 \geq 7, we prove that a component of their moduli space M_X(2,1,c_2) is birational to a Brill-Noether locus of bundles on Gamma having enough sections when twisted by V. Moreover we prove that M_X(2,1,7) is isomorphic to the blowing-up of the Picard variety Pic^2(Gamma) along the curve parametrizing lines contained in X.

Rank 2 arithmetically Cohen-Macaulay bundles on a nonsingular cubic surface

Rank 2 indecomposable arithmetically Cohen-Macaulay bundles E on a nonsingular cubic surface X in P^3 are classified, by means of the possible forms taken by the minimal graded free resolution of E over P^3. The admissible values of the Chern classes of E are listed and the vanishing locus of a general section of E is studied. Properties of E such as (semi) stability and simplicity are investigated; the number of relevant families is computed together with their dimension.

A geometric construction of Tango bundle on P^5

The Tango bundle T over P^5 is proved to be the pull-back of the twisted Cayley bundle C(1) via a map f : P^5 --> Q_5 existing only in characteristic 2. The Frobenius morphism F factorizes via such f. Using f the cohomology of T is computed in terms of F^*(C), Sym^2(C), C and the tensor product of S by C, while these are computed by applying Borel-Bott-Weil theorem. By machine-aided computation the mimimal resolutions of C and T are given; incidentally the matrix presenting the spinor bundle S over Q_5 is shown.
