Degenerate Algorithms for degenerate Bernoulli and Euler numbers

This paper introduces and investigates degenerate versions of the A-algorithm and B-algorithm by incorporating a parameter lambda into their respective recurrence relations. We derive explicit formulas for the final sequences of these algorithms in terms of the initial sequences and the degenerate Stirling numbers of the second kind. Furthermore, we establish functional relationships between the ordinary generating functions of the initial sequences and the exponential generating functions of the final sequences. Specifically, we demonstrate that these degenerate algorithms yield degenerate Bernoulli and Euler numbers under specific initial conditions.

Probabilistic heterogeneous Stirling numbers and Bell polynomials

Let Y be a random variable satisfying specific moment conditions. This paper introduces and investigates probabilistic heterogeneous Stirling numbers of the second kind and probabilistic heterogeneous Bell polynomials. These structures unify several classical and probabilistic families, including those of Stirling, Lah, Bell and Lah-Bell. By integrating the heterogeneous framework of Kim and Kim with probabilistic extensions, we derive explicit formulas, Dobiński-like identities, and recurrence relations. We further establish connections to partial Bell polynomials and provide applications for Poisson and Bernoulli distributions.

Probabilistic degenerate Fubini polynomials associated with random variables

Let Y be a random variable such that the moment generating function of Y exists in a neighborhood of the origin. The aim of this paper is to study probabilistic versions of the degenerate Fubini polynomials and the degenerate Fubini polynomials of order $r$, namely the probabilisitc degenerate Fubini polynomials associated with Y and the probabilistic degenerate Fubini polynomials of order r associated with Y. We derive some properties, explicit expressions, certain identities and recurrence relations for those polynomials.

Probabilistic derangement numbers and polynomials

Let Y be a random variable such that the moment generating function of Y exists in a neighborhood of the origin. The aim of this paper is to study probabilistic versions of the derangement polynomials, the derangement polynomials of type 2 and the r-derangement numbers, namely the probabilistic derangement polynomials associated with Y, the probabilistic derangement polynomials of type 2 associated with Y and the probabilistic r-derangement numbers associated Y, respectively. We derive some properties, explicit expressions, certain identities and recurrence relations for those polynomials and numbers. In addition, we consider the special case that Y is the gamma random variable with parameters α,\b{eta} > 0.

A note on infinite series whose terms involve truncated degenerate exponentials

The degenerate exponentials play an important role in recent study on degenerate versions of many special numbers and polynomials, the degenerate gamma function, the degenerate umbral calculus and the degenerate q-umbral calculus. The aim of this note is to consider infinite series whose terms involve truncated degenerate exponentials together with several special numbers and to find either their values or some other expressions of them as finite sums.

Degenerate r-associated Stirling numbers

For any positive integer r, the r-associated Stirling number of the second kind enumerates the number of partitions of the set{1,2,3,...,n} into k non-empty disjoint subsets such that each subset contains at least r elements. We introduce the degenerate r-associated Stirling numbers of the second kind and of the first kind. They are degenerate versions of the r-associated Stirling numbers of the second kind and of the first kind, and reduce to the degenerate Stirling numbers of the second kind and of the first kind for r=1. The aim of this paper is to derive recurrence relations for both of those numbers.

Degenerate r-Bell polynomials arising from degenerate normal odering

Recently, Kim-Kim introduced the degenerate r-Bell polynomials and investigated some results which are derived from umbral calculus. The aim of this paper is to study some properties of the degenerate r-Bell polynomials and numbers via boson operators. In particular, we obtain two expressions for the generating function of the degenerate r-Bell polynomials in |z| , and a recurrence relation and Dobinski-like formula for the degenerate r-Bell numbers. These are derived from the degenerate normal ordering of a degenerate integral power of the number operator in terms of boson operators where the degenerate r-Stirling numbers of the second kind appear as the coefficients.

Degenerate r-Whitney numbers and degenerate r-Dowling polynomials via Boson operators

Dowling showed that the Whitney numbers of the first kind and of the second kind satisfy Stirling number-like relations. Recently, Kim-Kim introduced the degenerate r-Whitney numbers of the first kind and of the second kind, as degenerate versions and further generalizations of the Whitney numbers of both kinds. The normal ordering of an integral power of the number operator in terms of boson operators is expressed with the help of the Stirling numbers of the second kind. In this paper, it is noted that the normal ordering of a certain quantity involving the number operator is expressed in terms of the degenerate r-Whitney numbers of the second kind. We derive some properties, recurrence relations, orthogonality relations and several identities on those numbers from such normal ordering. In addition, we consider the degenerate r-Dowling polynomials as a natural extension of the degenerate r-Whitney numbers of the second kind and investigate their properties.

Dimorphic Mersenne numbers and their applications

The Mersenne primes are primes which can be written as some prime power of 2 minus 1. These primes were studied from antiquity in that their close connection with perfect numbers and even to present day in that their easiness for primality test. In this paper, we introduce the dimorphic Mersenne numbers as a degenerate version of the Mersenne numbers and investigate some of their properties in connection with the degenerate Bernoulli polynomials and the incomplete Bell polynomials.

preprint2022arXiv

Normal ordering of degenerate integral powers of number operator and its applications

The normal ordering of an integral power of the number operator in terms of boson operators is expressed with the help of the Stirling numbers of the second kind. As a `degenerate version' of this, we consider the normal ordering of a degenerate integral power of the number operator in terms of boson operators, which is represented by means of the degenerate Stirling numbers of the second kind. As an application of this normal ordering, we derive two equations defining the degenerate Stirling numbers of the second kind and a Dobinski-like formula for the degenerate Bell polynomials.

Recently, authors studied the unsigned degenerate r-Stirling number of the first kind and the degenerate r-Stirling number of the second kind, respectively of which are the degenerate versions of the unsigned r-Stirling numbers of the first kind and those of the r-Stirling numbers of the second kind. The aim of this paper is to derive some identities involving such special numbers from the inverse relations for them.

preprint2022arXiv

Some identities involving degenerate Stirling numbers arising from normal ordering

In this paper, we derive some identities and recurrence relations for the degenerate Stirling numbers of the first kind and of the second kind which are degenerate versions of the ordinary Stirling numbers of the first kind and of the second kind. They are deduced from the normal oderings of degenerate integral powers of the number operator and their inversions, certain relations of boson operators and from the recurrence relations of the Stirling numbers themselves. Here we note that, while the normal ordering of an integral power of the number operator is expressed with the help of the Stirling numbers of the second kind, that of a degenerate integral power of the number operator is represented by means of the degenerate Stirling numbers of the second kind.

We also introduce the $λ$-analogues of Whitney-type $r$-Stirling numbers of the second and derive similar results to the case of the $λ$-analogues of r-Stirling numbers of the second kind. In addition, we consider the $λ$-analogues of Dowling polynomials and deduce a Dobinski-like formula.

Generalized degenerate Bernoulli numbers and polynomials arising from Gauss hypergeometric function

In a previous paper, Rahmani introduced a new family of p-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials by means of the Gauss hypergeometric function. Motivated by this paper and as a degenerate version of those numbers and polynomials, we introduce the generalized degenerate Bernoulli numbers and polynomials again by using the Gauss hypergeometric function. In addition, we introduce the degenerate type Eulerian numbers as a degenerate version of Eulerian numbers. For the generalized degenerate Bernoulli numbers, we express them in terms of the degenerate Stirling numbers of the second kind, of the degenerate type Eulerian numbers, of the degenerate $p$-Stirling numbers of the second kind and of an integral on the unit interval. As to the generalized degenerate Bernoulli polynomials, we represent them in terms of the degenerate Stirling polynomials of the second kind.

Degenerate binomial and degenerate Poisson random variables

The aim of this paper is to study the Poisson random variables in relation to the Lah-Bell polynomials and the degenerate binomial and degenerate Poisson random variables in connection with the degenerate Lah-Bell polynomials. Among other things, we show that the rising factorial moments of the degenerate Poisson random variable with parameter α are given by the degenerate Lah-Bell polynomials evaluated at α. Identities on poly-Dedekind sums

Dedekind sums occur in the transformation behaviour of the logarithm of the Dedekind eta-function under substitutions from the modular group. In 1892, Dedekind showed a reciprocity relation for the Dedekind sums. Apostol generalized Dedekind sums by replacing the first Bernoulli function appearing in them by any Bernoulli functions and derived a reciprocity relation for the generalized Dedekind sums. In this paper, we consider poly-Dedekind sums which are obtained from the Dedekind sums by replacing the first Bernoulli function by any type 2 poly-Bernoulli functions of arbitrary indices and prove a reciprocity relation for the poly-Dedekind sums.

Codes Associated with $O(3,2^r)$ and Power Moments of Kloosterman Sums with Trace One Arguments

We construct a binary linear code $C(O(3,q))$, associated with the orthogonal group $O(3,q)$. Here $q$ is a power of two. Then we obtain a recursive formula for the odd power moments of Kloosterman sums with trace one arguments in terms of the frequencies of weights in the codes $C(O(3,q))$ and $C(Sp(2,q))$. Duality of translation association schemes coming from certain actions

Translation association schemes are constructed from actions of finite groups on finite abelian groups satisfying certain natural conditions. It is also shown that the mere existence of maps from finite groups to themselves sending each element in their groups to its `adjoint' entails the self-duality of the constructed association schemes. Many examples of these, including Hamming scheme and sesquilinear forms schemes, are provided. This con- struction is further generalized to show the duality of the association schemes coming from actions of two finite groups on the same finite abelian group. An example of this is supplied with weak Hamming schemes.

Simple proofs for duality of generalized minimum poset weights and weight distributions of (Near-)MDS poset codes

In 1991, Wei introduced generalized minimum Hamming weights for linear codes and showed their monotonicity and duality. Recently, several authors extended these results to the case of generalized minimum poset weights by using different methods. Here, we would like to prove the duality by using matroid theory. This gives yet another and very simple proof of it. In particular, our argument will make it clear that the duality follows from the well-known relation between the rank function and the corank function of a matroid. In addition, we derive the weight distributions of linear MDS and Near-MDS poset codes in the same spirit.

Under mild restrictions on $d$, we show that the maximum correlation magnitude of the family is upper bounded by $(2d -1) \sqrt { q }+1$ and the asymptotic size, as $q\rightarrow \infty$, of that is $\frac{ (M-1)q^{d-1}}{d }$. This extends the pioneering work of Yu and Gong for $d=2$ case.

The case of ramified roots of unity was treated previously. The derivations of identities are based on the $p$-adic integral expression, with respect to a measure introduced by Koblitz, of the generating function for the generalized twisted Bernoulli polynomials and the quotient of $p$-adic integrals that can be expressed as the exponential generating function for the generalized twisted power sums.

Identities of symmetry for q-Bernoulli polynomials

In this paper, we derive eight basic identities of symmetry in three variables related to $q$-Bernoulli polynomials and the $q$-analogue of power sums. These and most of their corollaries are new, since there have been results only about identities of symmetry in two variables. These abundance of symmetries shed new light even on the existing identities so as to yield some further interesting ones. The derivations of identities are based on the $p$-adic integral expression of the generating function for the $q$-Bernoulli polynomials and the quotient of integrals that can be expressed as the exponential generating function for the $q$-analogue of power sums.

Identities of symmetry for q-Euler polynomials

In this paper, we derive eight basic identities of symmetry in three variables related to $q$-Euler polynomials and the $q$-analogue of alternating power sums. These and most of their corollaries are new, since there have been results only about identities of symmetry in two variables. These abundance of symmetries shed new light even on the existing identities so as to yield some further interesting ones.
