First Results with a new Method for calculating 2-loop Box-Functions

We describe a first attempt to calculate scalar 2-loop box-functions with arbitrary internal masses, applying a novel method proposed in hep-ph/9407234. Four of the eight integrals are accessible to integration by means of the residue theorem, leaving a rational function in the remaining variables. The result of the procedure is a three- or sometimes two-dimensional integral representation over a finite volume that can be further evaluated using numerical methods.

Calculation of Infrared-Divergent Feynman Diagrams with Zero Mass Threshold

Two-loop vertex Feynman diagrams with infrared and collinear divergences are investigated by two independent methods. On the one hand, a method of calculating Feynman diagrams from their small momentum expansion extended to diagrams with zero mass thresholds is applied. On the other hand, a numerical method based on a two-fold integral representation is used. The application of the latter method is possible by using lightcone coordinates in the parallel space. The numerical data obtained with the two methods are in impressive agreement.

Chiral Anomaly in Contorted Spacetimes

The Dirac equation in Riemann-Cartan spacetimes with torsion is reconsidered. As is well-known, only the axial covector torsion AA, a one-form, couples to massive Dirac fields. Using diagrammatic techniques, we show that besides the familiar Riemannian term only the Pontrjagin type four-form dA∧dAdA\wedge dA does arise additionally in the chiral anomaly, but not the Nieh-Yan term d∗Ad ^* A, as has been claimed recently. Implications for cosmic strings in Einstein-Cartan theory as well as for Ashtekar's canonical approach to quantum gravity are discussed.

Introduction to XLOOPS

The program package XLOOPS calculates massive one- and two-loop Feynman diagrams. It consists of five parts: i) a graphical user interface ii) routines for generating diagrams from particle input iii) procedures for calculating one-loop integrals both analytically and numerically iv) routines for massive two-loop integrals v) programs for numerical integration of two-loop diagrams. The package relies on the application of parallel space techniques. The treatment of tensor structure and the separation of UV and IR divergences in analytic expressions is described in this scheme. All analytic calculations are performed with MAPLE. Two-loop examples taken from Standard Model calculations are presented. The method has recently been extended to all two-loop vertex topologies, including the crossed topology, graphs with divergent subloops and IR divergent diagrams. This will be included in the XLOOPS package in the near future.
