Arithmetic Autocorrelation of Binary $m$-Sequences

An $m$-sequence is the one of the largest period among those produced by a linear feedback shift register. It possesses several desirable features of pseudorandomness such as balance, uniform pattern distribution and ideal autocorrelation for applications to communications. However, it also possesses undesirable features such as low linear complexity. Here we prove a nontrivial upper bound on its arithmetic autocorrelation, another figure of merit introduced by Mandelbaum for error-correcting codes and later investigated by Goresky and Klapper for FCSRs. The upper bound is close to half of the period and hence rather large, which gives an undesirable feature.

Asymptotically optimal codebooks derived from generalised bent functions

Codebooks are required to have small inner-product correlation in many practical applications, such as direct spread code division multiple access communications, space-time codes and compressed sensing. In general, it is difficult to construct optimal codebooks. In this paper, two kinds of codebooks are presented and proved to optimally optimal with respect to the welch bound. Additionally, the constructed codebooks in this paper have new parameters.

Multisequences with high joint nonlinear complexity from function fields

Multisequences over finite fields play a pushing role in the applications that relate to parallelization, such as word-based stream ciphers and pseudorandom vector generation. It is interesting to study the complexity measures for multisequences. In this paper, we propose three constructions of multisequences over finite fields from rational function fields and Hermitian function fields. We also analyze the joint nonlinear complexity of these multisequences. Moreover, the length and dimension of these multisequences are flexible.

On the $k$-error linear complexity of binary sequences derived from polynomial quotients

We investigate the $k$-error linear complexity of $p^2$-periodic binary sequences defined from the polynomial quotients (including the well-studied Fermat quotients), which is defined by $$ q_{p,w}(u)\equiv \frac{u^w-u^{wp}}{p} \bmod p ~ \mathrm{with} 0 \le q_{p,w}(u) \le p-1, ~u\ge 0, $$ where $p$ is an odd prime and $1\le w<p$. Indeed, first for all integers $k$, we determine exact values of the $k$-error linear complexity over the finite field $\F_2$ for these binary sequences under the assumption of f2 being a primitive root modulo $p^2$, and then we determine their $k$-error linear complexity over the finite field $\F_p$ for either $0\le k<p$ when $w=1$ or $0\le k<p-1$ when $2\le w<p$. Theoretical results obtained indicate that such sequences possess `good' error linear complexity.
