Spin Norm and Lambda Norm

Given a KK-type ππ, it is known that its spin norm (due to first-named author) is lower bounded by its lambda norm (due to Vogan). That is, ∥π∥spin≥∥π∥lambda\|π\|_{\rm spin}\geq \|π\|_{\rm lambda}. This note aims to describe for which ππ one can actually have equality. We apply the result to tempered Dirac series. In the case of real groups, we obtain that the tempered Dirac series are divided into #W1\#W^1 parts among all tempered modules with real infinitesimal characters.

A non-vanishing criterion for Dirac cohomology

This paper gives a criterion for the non-vanishing of the Dirac cohomology of LS(Z)\mathcal{L}_S(Z), where LS(⋅)\mathcal{L}_S(\cdot) is the cohomological induction functor, while the inducing module ZZ is irreducible, unitarizable, and in the good range. As an application, we give a formula counting the number of strings in the Dirac series. Using this formula, we classify all the irreducible unitary representations of E6(2)E_{6(2)} with non-zero Dirac cohomology. Our calculation continues to support Conjecture 5.7' of Salamanca-Riba and Vogan [SV]. Moreover, we find more unitary representations for which cancellation happens between the even part and the odd part of their Dirac cohomology.

Dirac series for complex classical Lie groups: A multiplicity-one theorem

This paper computes the Dirac cohomology HD(π)H_D(π) of irreducible unitary Harish-Chandra modules ππ of complex classical groups viewed as real reductive groups. More precisely, unitary representations with nonzero Dirac cohomology are shown to be unitarily induced from unipotent representations. When nonzero, there is a unique, multiplicity free K−K-type in ππ contributing to HD(π)H_D(π). This confirms conjectures formulated by the first named author and Pandzic in 2011.

Dirac index of some unitary representations of Sp(2n,R)Sp(2n, \mathbb{R}) and SO∗(2n)SO^*(2n)

Let GG be Sp(2n,R)Sp(2n, \mathbb{R}) or SO∗(2n)SO^*(2n). We compute the Dirac index of a large class of unitary representations considered by Vogan in Section 8 of [Vog84], which include all weakly fair Aq(λ)A_{\mathfrak{q}}(λ) modules and (weakly) unipotent representations of GG as two extreme cases. We conjecture that these representations exhaust all unitary representations of GG with nonzero Dirac cohomology. In general, for certain irreducible unitary module of an equal rank group, we clarify the link between the possible cancellations in its Dirac index, and the parities of its spin-lowest KK-types.

Dirac series for some real exceptional Lie groups

Up to equivalence, this paper classifies all the irreducible unitary representations with non-zero Dirac cohomology for the following simple real exceptional Lie groups: EI=E6(6),EIV=E6(−26),FI=F4(4),FII=F4(−20){\rm EI}=E_{6(6)}, {\rm EIV}=E_{6(-26)}, {\rm FI}=F_{4(4)}, {\rm FII}=F_{4(-20)}. Along the way, we find an irreducible unitary representation of F4(4)F_{4(4)} whose Dirac index vanishes, while its Dirac cohomology is non-zero. This disproves a conjecture raised in 2015 asserting that there should be no cancellation between the even part and the odd part of the Dirac cohomology.

Dirac series of GL(n,R)GL(n, \mathbb{R})

The unitary dual of GL(n,R)GL(n, \mathbb{R}) was classified by Vogan in the 1980s. Focusing on the irreducible unitary representations of GL(n,R)GL(n, \mathbb{R}) with half-integral infinitesimal characters, we find that Speh representations and the special unipotent representations are building blocks. By looking at the KK-types of them, and by using a Blattner-type formula, we obtain all the irreducible unitary (g,K)(\mathfrak{g}, K)-modules with non-zero Dirac cohomology of GL(n,R)GL(n, \mathbb{R}), as well as a formula for (one of) their spin-lowest KK-types. Moreover, analogous to the GL(n,C)GL(n,\mathbb{C}) case given in [DW1], we count the number of the FS-scattered representations of GL(n,R)GL(n, \mathbb{R}).

Scattered representations of SL(n,C)SL(n, \mathbb{C})

Let GG be SL(n,C)SL(n, \mathbb{C}). This paper aims to describe the Zhelobenko parameters and the spin-lowest KK-types of the scattered representations of GG, which lie at the heart of G^d\hat{G}^d - the set of all the equivalence classes of irreducible unitary representations of GG with non-vanishing Dirac cohomology. As a consequence, we will verify a couple of conjectures of the first-named author for GG.

Unitary Representations with Dirac cohomology: a finiteness result for complex Lie groups

Let GG be a connected complex simple Lie group, and let G^d\widehat{G}^{\mathrm{d}} be the set of all equivalence classes of irreducible unitary representations with non-vanishing Dirac cohomology. We show that G^d\widehat{G}^{\mathrm{d}} consists of two parts: finitely many scattered representations, and finitely many strings of representations. Moreover, the strings of G^d\widehat{G}^{\mathrm{d}} come from L^d\widehat{L}^{\mathrm{d}} via cohomological induction and they are all in the good range. Here LL runs over the Levi factors of proper θθ-stable parabolic subgroups of GG. It follows that figuring out G^d\widehat{G}^{\mathrm{d}} requires a finite calculation in total. As an application, we report a complete description of F^4d\widehat{F}_4^{\mathrm{d}}.

Fast Diffusion Inhibits Disease Outbreaks

We show that the basic reproduction number of an SIS patch model with standard incidence is either strictly decreasing and strictly convex with respect to the diffusion coefficient of infected subpopulation if the patch reproduction numbers of at least two patches in isolation are distinct or constant otherwise. Biologically, it means that fast diffusion of the infected people reduces the risk of infection. This completely solves and generalizes a conjecture by Allen et al. ({\it SIAM J Appl Math}, 67: 1283-1309, 2007). Furthermore, a substantially improved lower bound on the multipatch reproduction number, a generalized monotone result on the spectral bound the Jacobian matrix of the model system at the disease-free equilibrium, and the limiting endemic equilibrium are obtained. The approach and results can be applied to a class of epidemic patch models where only one class of infected compartments migrate between patches and one transmission route is involved.

On the nonvanishing hypothesis for Rankin-Selberg convolutions for GLn(C)×GLn(C)\mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb C)\times \mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb C)

Inspired by Sun's breakthrough in establishing the nonvanishing hypothesis for Rankin-Selberg convolutions for the groups GLn(R)×GLn−1(R)\mathrm{GL}_n (\mathbb R)\times \mathrm{GL}_{n-1} (\mathbb R) and GLn(C)×GLn−1(C)\mathrm{GL}_n (\mathbb C)\times \mathrm{GL}_{n-1} (\mathbb C), we confirm it for GLn(C)×GLn(C)\mathrm{GL}_{n} (\mathbb C)\times \mathrm{GL}_n (\mathbb C) at the central critical point.

Ad-nilpotent ideals and The Shi arrangement

We extend the Shi bijection from the Borel subalgebra case to parabolic subalgebras. In the process, the II-deleted Shi arrangement Shi(I)\texttt{Shi}(I) naturally emerges. This arrangement interpolates between the Coxeter arrangement Cox\texttt{Cox} and the Shi arrangement Shi\texttt{Shi}, and breaks the symmetry of Shi\texttt{Shi} in a certain symmetrical way. Among other things, we determine the characteristic polynomial χ(Shi(I),t)χ(\texttt{Shi}(I), t) of Shi(I)\texttt{Shi}(I) explicitly for An−1A_{n-1} and CnC_n. More generally, let Shi(G)\texttt{Shi}(G) be an arbitrary arrangement between Cox\texttt{Cox} and Shi\texttt{Shi}. Armstrong and Rhoades recently gave a formula for χ(Shi(G),t)χ(\texttt{Shi}(G), t) for An−1A_{n-1}. Inspired by their result, we obtain formulae for χ(Shi(G),t)χ(\texttt{Shi}(G), t) for BnB_n, CnC_n and DnD_n.
