Heavy neutrino impact on the triple Higgs coupling

We present the first calculation of the one-loop corrections to the triple Higgs coupling in the framework of a simplified 3+1 Dirac neutrino model, that is three light neutrinos plus one heavy neutrino embedded in the Standard Model (SM). The triple Higgs coupling is a key parameter of the scalar potential triggering the electroweak symmetry-breaking mechanism in the SM. The impact of the heavy neutrino can be as large as $+20\%$ to $+30\%$ for parameter points allowed by the current experimental constraints depending on the tightness of the perturbative bound. This can be probed at the high-luminosity LHC, at future electron-positron colliders and at the Future Circular Collider in hadron-hadron mode, an envisioned 100 TeV $pp$ machine. Our calculation, being done in the mass basis, can be extended to any model using the neutrino portal. In addition, the effects that we have calculated are expected to be enhanced if additional heavy fermions with large Yukawa couplings are included, as in low-scale seesaw mechanisms.

Decoupling of heavy sneutrinos in low-scale seesaw models

There have been some recent claims in the literature about large right-handed sneutrinos contributions to lepton flavor violating observables like $μ\to 3e$ or $μ- e$ conversion in nuclei in supersymmetric low-scale seesaw models. These large contributions originate from $Z$-penguin diagrams which show a much weaker dependence on the heavy masses than the photonic contributions. We have traced this to an error in the evaluation of the corresponding loop amplitudes which has propagated in the literature. We explicitly show that after correcting this mistake the $Z$-penguins show the expected decoupling behavior. Moreover, the reported dominance of the $Z$-penguin over the photonic contributions disappears as well.

Effects of fermionic singlet neutrinos on high- and low-energy observables

In this doctoral thesis, we study both low- and high-energy observables related to massive neutrinos. Neutrino oscillations have provided indisputable evidence in favour of non-zero neutrino masses and mixings. However, the original formulation of the Standard Model cannot account for these observations, which calls for the introduction of new Physics. Among many possibilities, we focus here on the inverse seesaw, a neutrino mass generation mechanism in which the Standard Model is extended with fermionic gauge singlets. This model offers an attractive alternative to the usual seesaw realisations since it can potentially have natural Yukawa couplings ($\mathcal{O}(1)$) while keeping the new Physics scale at energies within reach of the LHC. Among the many possible effects, this scenario can lead to deviations from lepton flavour universality. We have investigated these signatures and found that the ratios $R_K$ and $R_π$ provide new, additional constraints on the inverse seesaw. We have also considered the embedding of the inverse seesaw in supersymmetric models. This leads to increased rates for various lepton flavour violating processes, due to enhanced contributions from penguin diagrams mediated by the Higgs and $Z^0$ bosons. Finally, we also found that the new invisible decay channels associated with the sterile neutrinos present in the supersymmetric inverse seesaw could significantly weaken the constraints on the mass and couplings of a light CP-odd Higgs boson.

Enhanced Higgs Mediated Lepton Flavour Violating Processes in the Supersymmetric Inverse Seesaw Model

We study the impact of the inverse seesaw mechanism on several low-energy flavour violating observables such as tau decaying to three muons in the context of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. As a consequence of the inverse seesaw, the contributions of the right-handed sneutrinos significantly enhance the Higgs-mediated penguin diagrams. We find that different flavour violating branching ratios can be enhanced by as much as two orders of magnitude. We also comment on the impact of the Higgs-mediated processes on the leptonic B-meson decays and on the Higgs flavour violating decays.

Enhanced Higgs-Mediated Lepton-Flavour-Violating Processes in the Supersymmetric Inverse Seesaw Model

We study the impact of the inverse seesaw mechanism on several leptonic and hadronic low-energy flavour-violating observables in the context of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. Indeed, the contributions of the light right-handed sneutrinos from the inverse seesaw significantly enhance the Higgs-mediated penguin diagrams. We find that this can increase the different branching ratios by as much as two orders of magnitude.

Enhancing lepton flavour violation in the supersymmetric inverse seesaw beyond the dipole contribution

In minimal supersymmetric models the $Z$-penguin usually provides sub-dominant contributions to charged lepton flavour violating observables. In this study, we consider the supersymmetric inverse seesaw in which the non-minimal particle content allows for dominant contributions of the $Z$-penguin to several lepton flavour violating observables. In particular, and due to the low-scale (TeV) seesaw, the penguin contribution to, for instance, $\Br(μ\to 3e)$ and $μ-e$ conversion in nuclei, allows to render some of these observables within future sensitivity reach. Moreover, we show that in this framework, the $Z$-penguin exhibits the same non-decoupling behaviour which had previously been identified in flavour violating Higgs decays in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model.

A possible connection between neutrino mass generation and the lightness of a NMSSM pseudoscalar

One of the interesting properties of the NMSSM is that it can accommodate a light pseudoscalar of order 10 GeV. However, such scenarios are challenged by several experimental constraints, especially those related to the fermionic decays of the pseudoscalar. In this Letter, we extend the NMSSM field content by two gauge singlets, with lepton numbers +1 and -1. This serves the twin purpose of generating neutrino masses via the inverse see-saw mechanism and keeping the option of a very light pseudoscalar experimentally viable by opening dominant invisible decay channels of the pseudoscalar which help it evade the existing bounds.
