Intrinsic charm content of the nucleon and charmness-nucleon sigma term

In the extended chiral constituent quark model, the intrinsic ccˉc \bar{c} content of the nucleon is investigated. The probabilities of the quark-antiquark components in the nucleon wave functions are calculated by taking the nucleon to be admixtures of three- and five-quark components, with the relevant transitions handled {\it via} the 3^{3}P0_{0} mechanism. Predictions for the probability of the ccˉc \bar{c} in the nucleon wave function and the charmness-nucleon sigma term are presented. Our numerical results turn out to be consistent with the predictions from various other approaches reported in the literature.

Pion- and strangeness-baryon σσ terms in the extended chiral constituent quark model

Within an extended chiral constituent quark formalism, we investigate contributions from all possible five-quark components in the octet baryons to the pion-baryon (σπBσ_{πB}) and strangeness-baryon (σsBσ_{s B}) sigma terms; B≡N, Λ, Σ, ΞB \equiv N,~Λ,~Σ,~Ξ. The probabilities of the quark-antiquark components in the ground-state baryon octet wave functions are calculated by taking the baryons to be admixtures of three- and five-quark components, with the relevant transitions handled {\it via} the 3^{3}P0_{0} mechanism. Predictions for σπBσ_{πB} and σsBσ_{s B} obtained by using input parameters taken from the literature are reported. Our results turn out to be, in general, consistent with the findings via lattice QCD and chiral perturbation theory.

Low-lying ΩΩ states with negative parity in an extended quark model with Nambu-Jona-Lasinio interaction

Here we investigate mixing of the low-lying three- and five-quark ΩΩ states with spin-parity quantum numbers 12−\frac{1}{2}^{-} and 32−\frac{3}{2}^{-}, employing the quark-antiquark creation triggered by Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) interaction. Wave functions of the three- and five-quark configurations are constructed using the extended constituent quark model, within which the hyperfine interaction between quarks is also taken to be the NJL interaction induced one. Numerical results show that the NJL-induced pair creation results in vanishing mixing between three- and five-quark ΩΩ configurations with spin-parity 1/2−1/2^{-}, but mixing between three- and five-quark 3/2−3/2^{-} ΩΩ states should be very strong. And the mixing decreases energy of the lowest 3/2−3/2^{-} ΩΩ state to be 1785±251785\pm25~MeV, which is lower than energy of the lowest 1/2−1/2^{-} state in this model. This is consistent with our previous predictions within the instanton-induced quark-antiquark creation model.

Mixing of the low-lying three- and five-quark ΩΩ states with negative parity

Mixing of the low-1/2^{-}and and 3/2^{-}isinvestigated,employinganinstanton−inducedquark−antiquarkpaircreationmodel,whichprecludestransitionsbetween is investigated, employing an instanton-induced quark-antiquark pair creation model, which precludes transitions between s^{3}and and s^{4}\bar{s}configurations.Modelswithhyperfineinteractionsbetweenquarksofthreedifferentkinds,namely,one−gluon−exchange,Goldstone−boson−exchange(GBE)andaninstanton−inducedinteraction(INS)arecalledOGE,GBEandINSmodels,respectively.Numericalresultsshowthattheinstanton−inducedpaircreationcausesstrongmixingbetweenthethree−andfive−quarkconfigurationswithspin3/2,andthatthismixingdecreasestheenergyofthelowestspin3/2statesinallthreedifferenthyperfineinteractionmodelsto configurations. Models with hyperfine interactions between quarks of three different kinds, namely, one-gluon-exchange, Goldstone-boson-exchange (GBE) and an instanton-induced interaction (INS) are called OGE, GBE and INS models, respectively. Numerical results show that the instanton-induced pair creation causes strong mixing between the three- and five-quark configurations with spin 3/2, and that this mixing decreases the energy of the lowest spin 3/2 states in all three different hyperfine interaction models to \sim 1750\pm50MeV.Ontheotherhand,transitioncouplingsbetween MeV. On the other hand, transition couplings between s^3and and s^{3}q\bar{q}stateswithspin1/2causedbyinstanton−induced states with spin 1/2 caused by instanton-induced q\bar{q}creationisverysmallandtheresultingmixingofthree−andfive−quarkconfigurationsintheOGEandINSmodelsisnegligible,whilethemixingofthespin1/2statesinGBEmodelisnot,buteffectsofthismixingonenergiesofmixedstatesarealsoverysmall.Accordingly,thelowest creation is very small and the resulting mixing of three- and five-quark configurations in the OGE and INS models is negligible, while the mixing of the spin 1/2 states in GBE model is not, but effects of this mixing on energies of mixed states are also very small. Accordingly, the lowest Ω$ states with negative parity in all three hyperfine interactions models have spin 3/2.

Spectrum of low-lying s3QQˉs^{3}Q\bar{Q} configurations with negative parity

Spectrum of low-lying five-quark configurations with strangeness quantum number S=−3S=-3 and negative parity is studied in three kinds of constituent quark models, namely the one gluon exchange, Goldstone Boson exchange, and instanton-induced hyperfine interaction models, respectively. Our numerical results show that the lowest energy states in all the three employed models are lying at ∼\sim1800 MeV, about 200 MeV lower than predictions of various quenched three-quark models. In addition, it is very interesting that the state with the lowest energy in one gluon exchange model is with spin 3/2, but 1/2 in the other two models.

Strangeness magnetic form factor of the proton in the extended chiral quark model

Background: Unravelling the role played by nonvalence flavors in baryons is crucial in deepening our comprehension of QCD. Strange quark, a component of the higher Fock states in baryons, is an appropriate tool to investigate nonperturbative mechanisms generated by the pure sea quark. Purpose: Study the magnitude and the sign of the strangeness magnetic moment μsμ_s and the magnetic form factor (GMsG_M^s) of the proton. Methods: Within an extended chiral constituent quark model, we investigate contributions from all possible five-quark components to μsμ_s and GMs(Q2)G_M^s (Q^2) in the four-vector momentum range Q2≤1Q^2 \leq 1 (GeV/c)2^2. Probability of the strangeness component in the proton wave function is calculated employing the 3P0^3 P_0 model. Results: Predictions are obtained without any adjustable parameters. Observables μsμ_s and GMs(Q2)G_M^s (Q^2) are found to be small and negative, consistent with the lattice-QCD findings as well as with the latest data released by the PVA4 and HAPPEX Collaborations. Conclusions: Due to sizeable cancelations among different configurations contributing to the strangeness magnetic moment of the proton, it is indispensable to (i) take into account all relevant five-quark components and include both diagonal and non-diagonal terms, (ii) handle with care the oscillator harmonic parameter ω5ω_5 and the ssˉ{s \bar s} component probability.

Role of five-quark components in radiative and strong decays of the Lambda(1405) resonance

Within an extended chiral constituent quark model, three- and five-quark structure of the S01S_{01} resonance Λ(1405)Λ(1405) is investigated. Helicity amplitudes for the electromagnetic decays (Λ(1405)→Λ(1116)γΛ(1405) \to Λ(1116)γ, Σ(1194)γΣ(1194)γ), and transition amplitudes for strong decays (Λ(1405)→Σ(1194)πΛ(1405)\toΣ(1194)π, K−p K^{-}p) are drived, as well as the relevant decay widths. The experimental value for the strong decay width, ΓΛ(1405)→(Σπ)∘=50±2Γ_{Λ(1405)\to (Σπ)^\circ}=50\pm 2 MeV, is well reproduced with about 50% of five-quark admixture in the Λ(1405)Λ(1405). Important effects due to the configuration mixings among Λ12PAΛ^{2}_{1}P_{A}, Λ82PMΛ^{2}_{8}P_{M} and Λ84PMΛ^{4}_{8}P_{M} are found. In addition, transitions between the three- and five-quark components in the baryons turn out to be significant in both radiative and strong decays of the Λ(1405)Λ(1405) resonance.

The contributions of qqqqqˉqqqq\bar{q} components to the axial charges of proton and its resonances

We calculate the axial charges of the proton and its resonances in the framework of the constituent quark model, which is extended to include the qqqqqˉqqqq\bar{q} components. If 20% admixtures of the qqqqqˉqqqq\bar{q} components in the proton are assumed, the theoretical value for the axial charge in our model is in good agreement with the empirical value, which can not be well reproduced in the traditional constituent quark model even though the SU(6)⨂O(3)SU(6) \bigotimes O(3) symmetry breaking or relativistic effect is taken into account. We also predict an unity axial charge for N∗(1440)N^{*}(1440) with 30% qqqqqˉqqqq\bar{q} components constrained by the strong and electromagnetic decays.

The qqqqqˉqqqq\bar q components and hidden flavor contributions to the baryon magnetic moments

The contributions from the qqqqqˉqqqq\bar q components to the magnetic moments of the octet as well as the Δ++Δ^{++} and Ω−Ω^- decuplet baryons are calculated for the configurations that are expected to have the lowest energy if the hyperfine interaction depends both on spin and flavor. The contributions from the uuˉu\bar u, ddˉd\bar d and ssˉs\bar s components are given separately. It is shown that addition of qqqqqˉqqqq\bar q admixtures to the ground state baryons can improve the overall description of the magnetic moments of the baryon octet and decuplet in the quark model without SU(3) flavor symmetry breaking, beyond that of the different constituent masses of the strange and light-flavor quarks. The explicit flavor (and spin) wave functions for all the possible configurations of the qqqqqˉqqqq\bar q components with light and strange qqˉq\bar q pairs are given for the baryon and octet and decuplet. Admixtures of ~ 10% of the qqqqqˉqqqq\bar q configuration where the flavor-spin symmetry is [4]FS[22]F[22]S[4]_{FS}[22]_F[22]_S, which is likely to have the lowest energy, in particular reduces the deviation from the empirical values of the magnetic moments of the Σ−Σ^ - and the Ξ0Ξ^0 compared with the quark model.
