Worldline Casting of the Stochastic Vacuum Model and Non-Perturbative Properties of QCD: General Formalism and Applications

The Stochastic Vacuum Model for QCD, proposed by Dosch and Simonov, is fused with a Worldline casting of the underlying theory, i.e. QCD. Important, non-perturbative features of the model are studied. In particular, contributions associated with the spin-field interaction are calculated and both the validity of the loop equations and of the Bianchi identity are explicitly demonstrated. As an application, a simulated meson-meson scattering problem is studied in the Regge kinematical regime. The process is modeled in terms of the "helicoidal" Wilson contour along the lines introduced by Janik and Peschanski in a related study based on a AdS/CFT-type approach. Working strictly in the framework of the Stochastic Vacuum Model and in a semiclassical approximation scheme the Regge behavior for the Scattering amplitude is demonstrated. Going beyond this approximation, the contribution resulting from boundary fluctuation of the Wilson loop contour is also estimated.

Spin-field Interaction Effects and Loop Dynamics in AdS/CFT Duality

The spin-field interaction is considered, in the context of the gauge fields/string correspondence, in the large 't Hooft coupling limit. The latter can be viewed as a WKB-type approximation to the AdS/CFT duality conjecture. Basic theoretical objects entering the present study are (a) the Wilson loop functional, on the gauge field side and (b) the sigma model action for the string propagating in AdS$_5$. Spin effects are introduced in a worldline setting, via the spin factor for a particle entity propagating on a Wilson loop contour. The computational tools employed for conducting the relevant analysis, follow the methodological guidelines introduced in two papers by Polyakov and Rychkov. The main result is expressed in terms of the modification of the spin factor brought about by dynamical effects, both perturbative and non-perturbative, according to AdS/CFT in the considered limit.

Extension of worldline computational algorithms for QCD to open fermionic contours

The worldline casting of a gauge field system with spin-1/2 matter fields has provided a, particle-based, first quantization formalism in the framework of which the Bern-Kosower algorithms for efficient computations in QCD acquire a simple interpretation. This paper extends the scope of applicability of the worldline scheme so as to include open fermionic paths. Specific algorithms are established which address themselves to the fermionic propagator and which are directly applicable to any other process involving external fermionic states. It is also demonstrated that in this framework the sole agent of dynamics operating in the system is the Wilson line (loop) operator, which makes a natural entrance in the worldline action; everything else is associated with geometrical properties of particle propagation, of which the most important component is Polyakov's spin factor.

Statistical Bootstrap analysis of S+Ag interaction at 200AGeV: Evidence of a phase beyond the hadronic one?

A generalized Strangeness-incorporating Statistical Bootstrap Model (SSBM) is constructed so as to include indepedent fugacities for up and down quarks. Such an extension is crucial for the confrontation of multiparticle data emerging from heavy ion collisions, wherein isospin symmetry is not satisfied. Two constraints, in addition to the presence of a critical surface which sets the boundaries of the hadronic world, enter the extended model. An analysis pertaining to produced particle multiplicities and ratios is performed for the S+Ag interaction at 200 GeV/nucleon. The resulting evaluation, concerning the location of the source of the produced system, is slightly in favor the source being outside the hadronic domain.
