"All-versus-nothing" proof of genuine tripartite steering and entanglement certification in the two-sided device-independent scenario

We consider the task of certification of genuine entanglement of tripartite states. For this purpose, we first present an "all-versus-nothing" proof of genuine tripartite Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering by demonstrating the non-existence of a hybrid local hidden state (LHS) model in the tripartite network as a motivation to our main result. A full logical contradiction of the predictions of the hybrid LHS model with quantum mechanical outcome statistics for any three-qubit generalized Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GGHZ) states and pure W-class states is shown. Using logical contradiction, we can distinguish between the GGHZ and W-class state in a two-sided device-independent (2SDI) steering scenario. We next formulate a 2SDI steering inequality which is a generalization of the fine-grained steering inequality (FGI) derived in \cite{PKM14} for the tripartite scenario. We show that the maximum quantum violation of this tripartite FGI can be used to certify genuine entanglement of three-qubit pure states.

Pearson Correlation Coefficient as a measure for Certifying and Quantifying High Dimensional Entanglement

A scheme for characterizing entanglement using the statistical measure of correlation given by the Pearson correlation coefficient (PCC) was recently suggested that has remained unexplored beyond the qubit case. Towards the application of this scheme for the high dimensional states, a key step has been taken in a very recent work by experimentally determining PCC and analytically relating it to Negativity for quantifying entanglement of the empirically produced bipartite pure state of spatially correlated photonic qutrits. Motivated by this work, we present here a comprehensive study of the efficacy of such an entanglement characterizing scheme for a range of bipartite qutrit states by considering suitable combinations of PCCs based on a limited number of measurements. For this purpose, we investigate the issue of necessary and sufficient certification together with quantification of entanglement for the two-qutrit states comprising maximally entangled state mixed with white noise and coloured noise in two different forms respectively. Further, by considering these classes of states for d=4 and 5, extension of this PCC based approach for higher dimensions d is discussed.

Canonical decomposition of quantum correlations in the framework of generalized nonsignaling theories

We introduce the measures, Bell discord (BD) and Mermin discord (MD), to characterize bipartite quantum correlations in the context of nonsignaling (NS) polytopes. These measures divide the full NS polytope into four regions depending on whether BD and/or MD is zero. This division of the NS polytope allows us to obtain a 3-decomposition that any bipartite box with two binary inputs and two binary outputs can be decomposed into Popescu-Rohrlich (PR) box, a maximally local box, and a local box with BD and MD equal to zero. BD and MD quantify two types of nonclassicality of correlations arising from all quantum correlated states which are neither classical-quantum states nor quantum-classical states. BD and MD serve us the semi-device-independent witnesses of nonclassicality of local boxes in that nonzero value of these measures imply incompatible measurements and nonzero quantum discord only when the dimension of the measured states is fixed. The 3-decomposition serves us to isolate the origin of the two types of nonclassicality into a PR-box and a maximally local box which is related to EPR-steering, respectively. We consider a quantum polytope that has an overlap with all the four regions of the full NS polytope to figure out the constraints of quantum correlations.

On total correlations in a bipartite quantum joint probability distribution

We discuss the problem of separating the total correlations in a given quantum joint probability distribution into nonlocality, contextuality and classical correlations. Bell discord and Mermin discord which qunatify nonlocality and contextuality of quantum correlations are interpreted as distance measures in the nonsignaling polytope. A measure of total correlations is introduced to divide the total amount of correlations into a purely nonclassical part and a classical part. We show that quantum correlations satisfy additivity relations among these three measures.
