A pp-Adic Matter in a Closed Universe

In this paper, we introduce a new type of matter that has origin in pp-adic strings, i.e., strings with a pp-adic worldsheet. We investigate some properties of this pp-adic matter, in particular its cosmological aspects. We start with crossing symmetric scattering amplitudes for pp-adic open strings and related effective nonlocal and nonlinear Lagrangian which describes tachyon dynamics at the tree level. Then, we make a slight modification of this Lagrangian and obtain a new Lagrangian for non-tachyonic scalar field. {Using this new Lagrangian in the weak field approximation as a matter in Einstein gravity with the cosmological constant, one obtains an exponentially expanding FLRW closed universe.} At the end, we discuss the obtained results, i.e., computed mass of the scalar pp-adic particle, estimated radius of related closed universe and noted pp-adic matter as a possible candidate for dark matter.

New Cosmological Solutions of a Nonlocal Gravity Model

A nonlocal gravity model (2.1) was introduced and considered recently [49], and two exact cosmological solutions in flat space were presented. The first solution is related to some radiation effects generated by nonlocal dynamics on dark energy background, while the second one is a nonsingular time symmetric bounce. In the present paper we investigate other possible exact cosmological solutions and find some the new ones in nonflat space. Used nonlocal gravity dynamics can change background topology. To solve the corresponding eqations of motion, we first look for a solution of the eigenvalue problem □(R−4Λ)=q (R−4Λ).\Box (R -4Λ) = q\ (R - 4Λ) . We also discuss possible extension of this model with nonlocal operator symmetric under □⟷□−1\Box \longleftrightarrow \Box^{-1} and its connection with another interesting nonlocal gravity model.

From pp-Adic to Zeta Strings

This article is related to construction of zeta strings from pp-adic ones. In addition to investigation of pp-adic string for a particular prime number pp, it is also interesting to study collective effects taking into account all primes pp. An idea behind this approach is that a zeta string is a whole thing with infinitely many faces which we see as pp-adic strings. The name zeta string has origin in the Riemann zeta function contained in related Lagrangian. The starting point in construction a zeta string is Lagrangian for a pp-adic open string. There are two types of approaches to get a Lagrangian for zeta string from Lagrangian for pp-adic strings: additive and multiplicative approaches, that are related to two forms of the definition of the Riemann zeta function. As a result of differences in approaches, one obtains several different Lagrangians for zeta strings. We briefly discuss some properties of these Lagrangians, related potentials, equations of motion, mass spectrum and possible connection with ordinary strings. This is a review of published papers with some new views.

Some Cosmological Solutions of a Nonlocal Modified Gravity

We consider nonlocal modification of the Einstein theory of gravity in framework of the pseudo-Riemannian geometry. The nonlocal term has the form H(R)F(□)G(R)\mathcal{H}(R) \mathcal{F}(\Box)\mathcal {G}(R), where H\mathcal{H} and G\mathcal{G} are differentiable functions of the scalar curvature R,R, and F(□)=∑n=0∞fn□n \mathcal{F}(\Box)= \displaystyle \sum_{n =0}^{\infty} f_{n}\Box^{n} is an analytic function of the d'Alambert operator □.\Box . Using calculus of variations of the action functional, we derived the corresponding equations of motion. The variation of action is induced by variation of the gravitational field, which is the metric tensor gμνg_{μν}. Cosmological solutions are found for the case when the Ricci scalar RR is constant.

p-Adic Invariant Summation of Some p-Adic Functional Series

We consider summation of some finite and infinite functional p-adic series with factorials. In particular, we are interested in the infinite series which are convergent for all primes p, and have the same integer value for an integer argument. In this paper, we present rather large class of such p-adic functional series with integer coefficients which contain factorials. By recurrence relations, we constructed sequence of polynomials A_k(n;x) which are a generator for a few other sequences also relevant to some problems in number theory and combinatorics.

p-Adic Structure of the Genetic Code

The genetic code is connection between 64 codons, which are building blocks of the genes, and 20 amino acids, which are building blocks of the proteins. In addition to coding amino acids, a few codons code stop signal, which is at the end of genes, i.e. it terminates process of protein synthesis. This article is a review of simple modelling of the genetic code and related subjects by concept of p-adic distance. It also contains some new results. In particular, the article presents appropriate structure of the codon space, degeneration and possible evolution of the genetic code. p-Adic modelling of the genetic code is viewed as the first step in further application of p-adic tools in the information sector of life science.

Path Integrals for Quadratic Lagrangians on p-Adic and Adelic Spaces

Feynman's path integrals in ordinary, p-adic and adelic quantum mechanics are considered. The corresponding probability amplitudes K(x",t";x′,t′) K(x^{"},t^{"};x',t') for two-dimensional systems with quadratic Lagrangians are evaluated analytically and obtained expressions are generalized to any finite-dimensional spaces. These general formulas are presented in the form which is invariant under interchange of the number fields R↔Qp{\mathbb R} \leftrightarrow {\mathbb Q}_p and Qp↔Qp′ , p≠p′{\mathbb Q}_p \leftrightarrow {\mathbb Q}_{p'} \, ,\, p\neq p'. According to this invariance we have that adelic path integral is a fundamental object in mathematical physics of quantum phenomena.

On p-Adic Sector of Adelic String

We consider construction of Lagrangians which are candidates for p-adic sector of an adelic open scalar string. Such Lagrangians have their origin in Lagrangian for a single p-adic string and contain the Riemann zeta function with the d'Alembertian in its argument. In particular, we present a new Lagrangian obtained by an additive approach which takes into account all p-adic Lagrangians. The very attractive feature of this new Lagrangian is that it is an analytic function of the d'Alembertian. Investigation of the field theory with Riemann zeta function is interesting in itself as well.

p-Adic Modelling of the Genome and the Genetic Code

The present paper is devoted to foundations of p-adic modelling in genomics. Considering nucleotides, codons, DNA and RNA sequences, amino acids, and proteins as information systems, we have formulated the corresponding p-adic formalisms for their investigations. Each of these systems has its characteristic prime number used for construction of the related information space. Relevance of this approach is illustrated by some examples. In particular, it is shown that degeneration of the genetic code is a p-adic phenomenon. We have also put forward a hypothesis on evolution of the genetic code assuming that primitive code was based on single nucleotides and chronologically first four amino acids. This formalism of p-adic genomic information systems can be implemented in computer programs and applied to various concrete cases.

A p-Adic Model of DNA Sequence and Genetic Code

Using basic properties of p-adic numbers, we consider a simple new approach to describe main aspects of DNA sequence and genetic code. Central role in our investigation plays an ultrametric p-adic information space which basic elements are nucleotides, codons and genes. We show that a 5-adic model is appropriate for DNA sequence. This 5-adic model, combined with 2-adic distance, is also suitable for genetic code and for a more advanced employment in genomics. We find that genetic code degeneracy is related to the p-adic distance between codons.

Noncommutative Classical and Quantum Mechanics for Quadratic Lagrangians (Hamiltonians)

We consider classical and quantum mechanics for an extended Heisenberg algebra with additional canonical commutation relations for position and momentum coordinates. In our approach this additional noncommutativity is removed from the algebra by linear transformation of coordinates and transmitted to the Hamiltonian (Lagrangian). Since linear transformations do not change the quadratic form of Hamiltonian (Lagrangian), and Feynman's path integral has well-known exact expression for quadratic models, we restricted our analysis to this class of physical systems. The compact general formalism presented here can be easily realized in any particular quadratic case. As an important example of phenomenological interest, we explored model of a charged particle in the noncommutative plane with perpendicular magnetic field. We also introduced an effective Planck constant ℏeff\hbar_{eff} which depends on noncommutativity.

Adelic Harmonic Oscillator

Using the Weyl quantization we formulate one-dimensional adelic quantum mechanics, which unifies and treats ordinary and pp-adic quantum mechanics on an equal footing. As an illustration the corresponding harmonic oscillator is considered. It is a simple, exact and instructive adelic model. Eigenstates are Schwartz-Bruhat functions. The Mellin transform of a simplest vacuum state leads to the well known functional relation for the Riemann zeta function. Some expectation values are calculated. The existence of adelic matter at very high energies is suggested.
