Photon Signals from Quarkyonic Matter

We calculate the Bremsstrahlung photon spectrum emitted from dynamically evolving quarkyonic matter, and compare this spectrum with that of a high chemical potential quark-gluon plasma as well as to a hadron gas. We find that the transverse momentum distribution and the harmonic coefficient is markedly different in the three cases. The transverse momentum distribution of quarkyonic matter can be fit with an exponential, but is markedly steeper than the distribution expected for the quark-gluon plasma or a hadron gas, even at the lower temperatures expected in the critical point region. The quarkyonic elliptic flow coefficient fluctuates randomly from event to event, and within the same event at different transverse momenta. The latter effect, which can be explained by the shape of quark wavefunctions within quarkyonic matter, might be considered as a quarkyonic matter signature, provided initial temperature is low enough that the quarkyonic regime dominates over deconfinement effects, and the reaction-plane flow can be separated from the fluctuating component.

Calculations of direct photon emission in Heavy Ion Collisions at \sqrt{s_NN} = 200 GeV

Direct photon emission in heavy-ion collisions is calculated within a relativistic micro+macro hybrid model and compared to the microscopic transport model UrQMD. In the hybrid approach, the high-density part of the collision is calculated by an ideal 3+1-dimensional hydrodynamic calculation, while the early (pre-equilibrium-) and late (rescattering-) phase are calculated with the transport model. We study both models with Au+Au-collisions at \sqrt{s_NN} = 200 GeV and compare the results to experimental data published by the PHENIX collaboration.

Direct photon calculations in heavy-ion collisions at s(NN)**1/2 = 62.4 - 200 AGeV in a (3+1) dimensional hybrid approach

Direct photon spectra from central Au+Au- and Cu+Cu-collisions at sqrt(s_NN) = 62.4, 130 and 200 AGeV are calculated within the microscopic transport model UrQMD and a micro+macro hybrid model. In the latter approach, the high-density part of the transport evolution is replaced by an ideal 3+1-dimensional hydrodynamic calculation. We study the impact of viscosity and full local thermalization and compare the calculations to measurements obtained by the PHENIX collaboration. We find a reasonable agreement with the experimental data for calculations involving a Quark-Gluon-Plasma phase.

Direct photon emission in Heavy Ion Collisions from Microscopic Transport Theory and Fluid Dynamics

Different scenarios of the transition from the macroscopic description to the transport model description and their effects are studied. The calculations are compared to measurements by the WA98-collaboration and predictions for the future CBM-experiment are made.

Direct Photons from a Hybrid Approach -- Exploring the parameter space

Direct photon spectra are calculated within a transport+hydrodynamics hybrid approach, in which the high-density part of the transport evolution has been replaced by a 3+1-dimensional hydrodynamic calculation. We study the effects of changing the parameters of the two interfaces between the transport- and hydrodynamic descriptions on the resulting direct photon spectra.

Transport and hydrodynamic calculations of direct photons at FAIR

The microscopic transport model UrQMD and a micro+macro hybrid model are used to calculate direct photon spectra from U+U-collisions at Elab = 35 AGeV as will be measured by the CBM-collaboration at FAIR. In the hybrid model, the intermediate high-density part of the nuclear interaction is described with ideal 3+1-dimensional hydrodynamics. Different equations of state of the matter created in the heavy-ion collisions are investigated and the resulting spectra of direct photons are predicted. The emission patterns of direct photons in space and time are discussed.
