Can Cu(II) ions be doped into the crystal structure of potassium hydrogen tartrate?

The differing binding preferences of the hydrogen tartrate ligand (HC4H4O6)- namely μ7-octadentate mode for potassium ion and bidentate mode for cupric ion rules out the doping (incorporation) of any Cu(II) ion into the crystal structure of potassium hydrogen tartrate. Hence, the claim of growth of copper doped potassium hydrogen tartrate viz. K0.96Cu0.04C4H5O6 by Mathivanan and Haris, Indian J Pure App Phys 51 (2013) 851-859 is untenable.

Comment on the paper: Synthesis, growth and characterization of cadmium manganese thiocyanate (CMTC) crystal

The authors of the title paper (Spectrochim. Acta 79A (2011) 340-343) report the crystal growth of cadmium manganese thiocyanate CdMn(SCN)4 and its characterization by single crystal X-ray diffraction and infrared spectrum. Many points of criticism, concerning the crystal growth and reported experimental data are highlighted in this report.

Comment on: Synthesis, growth and characterization of a new metal organic Nlo material: Dibromo bis(L proline)Cd(II)

The title paper by Boopathi and Ramasamy reports a study on the crystal growth and characterization of dibromobis (L-proline)Cd(II) (1). Many points of criticism, concerning the crystal structure of (1) and the magnetic properties of (1) dibromo bis(L-proline)Zn(II) (2) and diiodo bis(2-aminopyridine)Cd(II) (3) are reported to show that compounds 1 to 3 are not soft magnets but instead diamagnetic solids.

Comments on the paper: An extensive investigation on nucleation, growth parameters, crystalline perfection, spectroscopy, thermal, optical, microhardness, dielectric and SHG studies on potential NLO crystal Ammonium Hydrogen L-tartarte

The authors of the title paper report to have grown ammonium hydrogen L-tartrate (1) by use of L-glutamine and L-tartaric acid in 1:1 mole ratio. Many points of criticism pertaining to the characterization of 1 are described herein.

Comments on the paper: Growth structural, spectral, optical and mechanical studies of gamma bis glycinium oxalate (GBGOx) new NLO single crystal by SEST method

The authors of the title paper (Optik, 125 (2014) 1825-1828) claim to have synthesized a new nonlinear optical (NLO) gamma bis glycinium oxalate (GBGOx) crystal by slow evaporation solution technique. In this communication, many points of criticism, concerning the characterization of this so called GBGOx NLO crystal are highlighted to prove that the title paper is completely erroneous.

Does a glycine sodium nitrite crystal exist?

The glycine sodium nitrite crystal reported by Khandpekar and Pati in the paper entitled, Synthesis and characterisation of glycine sodium nitrite crystals having non linear optical behaviour, Opt Commun 285, 2012 288-293 is actually gamma-glycine. In addition, we show that glycine barium ammonium nitrate, glycine sodium zinc sulfate, glycine barium calcium nitrate, glycine acetamide and glycine dimer are dubious crystals.
