(Quantum) Fractional Brownian Motion and Multifractal Processes under the Loop of a Tensor Networks

We derive fractional Brownian motion and stochastic processes with multifractal properties using a framework of network of Gaussian conditional probabilities. This leads to the derivation of new representations of fractional Brownian motion. These constructions are inspired from renormalization. The main result of this paper consists of constructing each increment of the process from two-dimensional gaussian noise inside the light-cone of each seperate increment. Not only does this allows us to derive fractional Brownian motion, we can introduce extensions with multifractal flavour. In another part of this paper, we discuss the use of the multi-scale entanglement renormalization ansatz (MERA), introduced in the study critical systems in quantum spin lattices, as a method for sampling integrals with respect to such multifractal processes. After proper calibration, a MERA promises the generation of a sample of size $N$ of a multifractal process in the order of $O(N\log(N))$, an improvement over the known methods, such as the Cholesky decomposition and the circulant methods, which scale between $O(N^2)$ and $O(N^3)$.

Classical Non-equilibrium Phases from a Quantum Perspective: Quasi-adiabatic evolution and Local Ansatz for Solving The Equilibrium State of Local Stochastic Dynamics

Starting from a simple mapping of a generator of local stochastic dynamics to a quantum Hamiltonian, we derive a condition, which allows us to use the quasi-adiabatic evolution and so relate gapped quantum phases with non-equilibrium's. This leads us to a study of invertible matrix product operators. Finally, we present an ansatz for constructing local stochastic dynamics for which the Perron-Frobenius vector has a Matrix Product Representation. Additionally, we get for free that the dynamics satisfy a generalized form of detailed balance.

Revisiting Many-body Localization with Random Networks of Tensors

We argue first that translational invariant Matrix Product can be interpreted as a stationary sea of particles. Next, rather than starting from some local Hamiltonian with random potentials, we consider fluctuations of the local tensors of a continuous one-parameter family of Matrix Product States. This leads to a mapping from 1+1+0 to 0+1+1, being time-space-$λ$. We argue that both pictures are equivalent. Finally, the holography principle and an operational argumentation is used to map the problem onto 1+0+1. Localization in 1-dimension, can be understood from a simple study spectral and mixing properties of finite dimensional quantum channels.

Signatures of Lattice Excitations in Quantum Channels: Limit of Parent Hamiltonians

We prove that every injective Matrix Product State is the unique ground state of a simple hopping theory. We start by studying the low energy spectrum of parent Hamiltonians of injective Matrix Product States in a particular long range and system size limit under the validity of an asymptotic regime with low particle density. We show that in this limit a natural first quantization arises. This allows us to compute a specific type of low energy spectrum. This spectrum depends solely on the properties of a quantum channel, i.e. transfer matrix of the ground state, and not on any other details of the ground-state. We also review normal quantum channels for which the expression is more simplified. The construction possibly has some interesting uses for the study of quantum and classical Markov processes which we briefly expose. As an application, we revisit the notion of (many-body)-localization with our framework. Our calculations revealed that translational invariant Matrix Product States can be interpreted as a stationary sea of particles. As a next step rather than starting from some local Hamiltonian with random potentials, we consider fluctuations of the local tensors of a continuous one-parameter family of Matrix Product States. Localization in 1-dimension, is then understood from a simple study of spectral and mixing properties of finite dimensional quantum channels.

Asymptotically Decreasing Lieb-Robinson Velocity for a Class of Dissipative Quantum Dynamics

We study the velocity of the propagation of information for a class of local dissipative quantum dynamics. This finite velocity is expressed by the so-called Lieb-Robinson bound. Besides the properties of the already studied dynamics, we consider an additional relation that expresses the propagation of certain subspaces. The previously derived bounds did not reflect the dissipative character of the dynamics and yielded the same result as for the reversible case. In this article, we show that for this class the velocity of propagation of information is time dependent and decays in time towards a smaller velocity. In some cases the velocity becomes zero. At the end of the article, the exponential clustering theorem of general frustration free local Markovian dynamics is revisited.
