Zooming in on eV-MeV Scale Sterile Neutrinos in light of Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay

The existence of light sterile neutrinos, as predicted in several models, can help to explain a number of observations starting from dark mater to recent anomalies in short baseline experiments. In this paper we consider two models - Left-Right Symmetric Zee model and Extended Seesaw model, that can naturally accommodate the presence of light sterile neutrinos in the eV to MeV mass scale. We perform a detailed study on the neutrinoless double beta decay process which receives major contributions from diagrams involving these light sterile neutrinos. Considering a number of theoretical and experimental constraints, including light neutrino masses and mixings, unitarity of the mixing matrix etc., we compare our predicted values of the half-life of neutrinoless double beta decay with the experimental limits. This can put significant constraints on the neutrino mass, active-sterile neutrino mixing and several other important parameters in these models.

MeV scale model of SIMP dark matter, neutrino mass and leptogenesis

We consider a simple extension of the Standard Model with two singlet scalar fields and three heavy right-handed neutrinos. One of the scalar fields serves as an MeV scale dark matter and its stability is ensured by the introduction of an extra $Z_2$ symmetry. The second scalar (which is even under the $Z_2$ symmetry) generates the mass term of the scalar, contributes to the $3 \rightarrow 2$ annihilation process required for the correct relic density of the dark matter and it also contributes to the leptogenesis. The right-handed neutrinos are responsible for the generation of light neutrino masses through Type-I seesaw mechanism. The decay of the heavy right-handed neutrino can generate the lepton asymmetry which can then be converted to baryon asymmetry through sphaleron transitions.

LHC diphoton excess in a left-right symmetric model with minimal dark matter

We construct a model containing a viable dark matter candidate, in the framework of left-right symmetry, which can explain both width and cross-section of the observed 750 GeV diphoton excess at the LHC. We introduce a fermion quintuplet whose neutral component can be a possible dark matter candidate, whereas the charged components enhance the loop induced coupling of a 750 GeV singlet scalar with a pair of photons. We study the photo-production of the singlet scalar and its various decay modes, successfully addressing both the ATLAS and the CMS diphoton excess.

Higgs Boson Spectra in Supersymmetric Left-Right Models

We present a comprehensive analysis of the Higgs boson spectra in several versions of the supersymmetric left--right model based on the gauge symmetry $SU(3)_c \times SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R \times U(1)_{B-L}$. A variety of symmetry breaking sectors are studied, with a focus on the constraints placed on model parameters by the lightest neutral CP even Higgs boson mass $M_h$. The breaking of $SU(2)_R$ symmetry is achieved by Higgs fields transforming either as triplets or doublets, and the electroweak symmetry breaking is triggered by either bi--doublets or doublets. The Higgs potential is analyzed with or without a gauge singlet Higgs field present. Seesaw models of Type I and Type II, inverse seesaw models, universal seesaw models and an $E_6$ inspired alternate left--right model are included in our analysis. Several of these models lead to the tree--level relation $M_h \leq \sqrt{2}\,m_W$ (rather than $M_h \leq m_Z$ that arises in the MSSM), realized when the $SU(2)_R$ symmetry breaking scale is of order TeV. With such an enhanced upper limit, it becomes possible to accommodate a Higgs boson of mass 126 GeV with relatively light stops that mix negligibly. In models with Higgs triplets, a doubly charged scalar remains light below a TeV with its mass arising entirely from radiative corrections. We carry out the complete one--loop calculation for its mass induced by the Majorana Yukawa couplings and show the consistency of the framework. We argue that these models prefer a low $SU(2)_R$ breaking scale. Other theoretical and phenomenological implications of these models are briefly discussed.

Higgs Boson Decay Constraints on a Model with a Universal Extra Dimension

We investigate the impact of the latest data on Higgs boson branching ratios on the minimal model with a Universal Extra Dimension (mUED). Combining constraints from vacuum stability requirements with these branching ratio measurements we are able to make realistic predictions for the signal strengths in this model. We use these to find a lower bound of 1.3 TeV on the size parameter $R^{-1}$ of the model at 95% confidence level, which is far more stringent than any other reliable bound obtained till now.

New Signals for Doubly-Charged Scalars and Fermions at the Large Hadron Collider

Several extensions of the Standard Model have light doubly-charged Higgs bosons in their particle spectrum. The supersymmetric versions of these models introduce fermionic superpartners of these doubly-charged Higgs bosons, the Higgsinos, which also remain light. In this work we analyze a new collider signal resulting from the pair production and decay of a light doubly-charged Higgsino to an even lighter doubly-charged Higgs boson. We focus on the minimal left-right supersymmetric model with automatic R-parity conservation, which predicts such a light doubly-charged Higgs boson and its Higgsino partner at the TeV scale, which are singlets of SU(2)_L. We investigate the distinctive signatures of these particles with four leptons and missing transverse energy in the final state at the Large Hadron Collider and show that the discovery reach for both particles can be increased in this channel.
