A Characterization of One-component Inner Functions

We present a characterization of one-component inner functions in terms of the location of their zeros and their associated singular measure. As consequence we answer several questions posed by J. Cima and R. Mortini. In particular we prove that for any inner function $Θ$ whose singular set has measure zero, one can find a Blaschke product $B$ such that $ΘB$ is one-component. We also obtain a characterization of one-component singular inner functions which is used to produce examples of discrete and continuous one-component singular inner functions.

Bloch functions and Bekollé-Bonami weights

We study analogues of well-known relationships between Muckenhoupt weights and $BMO$ in the setting of Bekollé-Bonami weights. For Bekollé-Bonami weights of bounded hyperbolic oscillation, we provide distance formulas of Garnett and Jones-type, in the context of $BMO$ on the unit disc and hyperbolic Lipschitz functions. This leads to a characterization of all weights in this class, for which any power of the weight is a Bekollé-Bonami weight, which in particular reveals an intimate connection between Bekollé-Bonami weights and Bloch functions. On the open problem of characterizing the closure of bounded analytic functions in the Bloch space, we provide a counter-example to a related recent conjecture. This shed light into the difficulty of preserving harmonicity in approximation problems in norms equivalent to the Bloch norm. Finally, we apply our results to study certain spectral properties of Cesaró operators.

Divided Differences, Square Functions and a Law of the Iterated Logarithm

We study differentiability properties of functions defined in the euclidean space in terms of a conical square function which is analogue to the classical square function introduced by Stein and Zygmund in the sixties. Pointwise differentiability can be characterized, modulo sets of Lebesgue measure zero, in terms of the finiteness of the conical square function. At the complement of this set, a Law of the Iterated Logarithm describes the maximal growth of the divided differences in terms of a truncated version of the conical square function. Moreover a characterization of Sobolev spaces in terms of the conical square function is given.

Extremal solutions of Nevalinna-Pick problems and certain classes of inner functions

Consider a scaled Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation problem and let $Π$ be the Blaschke product whose zeros are the nodes of the problem. It is proved that if $Π$ belongs to a certain class of inner functions, then the extremal solutions of the problem or most of them, are in the same class. Three different classical classes are considered: inner functions whose derivative is in a certain Hardy space, exponential Blaschke products and also the well known class of $α$-Blaschke products, for $0<α<1$.

Reverse Carleson measures in Hardy spaces

We give a necessary and sufficient condition for a measure $μ$ in the closed unit disk to be a reverse Carleson measure for Hardy spaces. This extends a previous result of Lefévre, Li, Queffélec and Rodr\'ıguez-Piazza \cite{LLQR}. We also provide a simple example showing that the analogue for the Paley-Wiener space does not hold. This example can be generalised to model spaces associated to one-component inner functions.

Paths of inner-related functions

We characterize the connected components of the subset $\cni$ of $H^\infty$ formed by the products $bh$, where $b$ is Carleson-Newman Blaschke product and $h\in H^\infty$ is an invertible function. We use this result to show that, except for finite Blaschke products, no inner function in the little Bloch space is in the closure of one of these components. Our main result says that every inner function can be connected with an element of $\cni$ within the set of products $uh$, where $u$ is inner and $h$ is invertible. We also study some of these issues in the context of Douglas algebras.

Harmonic and superharmonic majorants on the disk

We prove that a positive function on the unit disk admits a harmonic majorant if and only if a certain logarithmic Lipschitz upper envelope of it (relevant because of the Harnack inequality) admits a superharmonic majorant. We discuss the logarithmic Lipschitz regularity of this superharmonic majorant, and show that in general it cannot be better than that of the Poisson kernel. We provide examples to show that mere superharmonicity of the data does not help with the problem of existence of a harmonic majorant.
