Limit theorems for 2D invasion percolation

We prove limit theorems and variance estimates for quantities related to ponds and outlets for 2D invasion percolation. We first exhibit several properties of a sequence $({\mathbf{O}}(n))$ of outlet variables, the $n$th of which gives the number of outlets in the box centered at the origin of side length $2^n$. The most important of these properties describes the sequence's renewal structure and exponentially fast mixing behavior. We use these to prove a central limit theorem and strong law of large numbers for $({\mathbf{O}}(n))$. We then show consequences of these limit theorems for the pond radii and outlet weights.

Phase transition in loop percolation

We are interested in the clusters formed by a Poisson ensemble of Markovian loops on infinite graphs. This model was introduced and studied in [LeJ12] and [LL12]. It is a model with long range correlations with two parameters $α$ and $κ$. The non-negative parameter $α$ measures the amount of loops, and $κ$ plays the role of killing on vertices penalizing ($κ>0$) or favoring ($κ<0$) appearance of large loops. It was shown in [LL12] that for any fixed $κ$ and large enough $α$, there exists an infinite cluster in the loop percolation on $\mathbb{Z}^d$. In the present article, we show a non-trivial phase transition on the integer lattice $\mathbb{Z}^d$ ($d\geq 3$) for $κ=0$. More precisely, we show that there is no loop percolation for $κ=0$ and $α$ small enough. Interestingly, we observe a critical like behavior on the whole sub-critical domain of $α$, namely, for $κ=0$ and any sub-critical value of $α$, the probability of one-arm event decays at most polynomially. For $d\geq 5$, we prove that there exists a non-trivial threshold for the finiteness of the expected cluster size. For $α$ below this threshold, we calculate, up to a constant factor, the decay of the probability of one-arm event, two point function, and the tail distribution of the cluster size. These rates are comparable with the ones obtained from a single large loop and only depend on the dimension. For $d=3$ or $4$, we give better lower bounds on the decay of the probability of one-arm event, which show importance of small loops for long connections. In addition, we show that the one-arm exponent in dimension $3$ depends on the intensity $α$. [LeJ12] Y. Le Jan, Amas de lacets markoviens, C. R. Math. Acad. Sci. Paris 350 (2012), no.13-14, 643-646. Connectivity properties of random interlacement and intersection of random walks

We consider the interlacement Poisson point process on the space of doubly-infinite Z^d-valued trajectories modulo time-shift, tending to infinity at positive and negative infinite times. The set of vertices and edges visited by at least one of these trajectories is the random interlacement at level u of Sznitman arXiv:0704.2560 . We prove that for any u>0, almost surely, (1) any two vertices in the random interlacement at level u are connected via at most ceiling(d/2) trajectories of the point process, and (2) there are vertices in the random interlacement at level u which can only be connected via at least ceiling(d/2) trajectories of the point process. In particular, this implies the already known result of Sznitman arXiv:0704.2560 that the random interlacement at level u is connected.

On the transience of random interlacements

We consider the interlacement Poisson point process on the space of doubly-infinite Z^d-valued trajectories modulo time-shift, tending to infinity at positive and negative infinite times. The set of vertices and edges visited by at least one of these trajectories is the graph induced by the random interlacements at level u of Sznitman arXiv:0704.2560. We prove that for any u>0, almost surely, the random interlacement graph is transient.
