On Collective Properties of Turbulent QED Plasma

Polarization properties of turbulent stochastically inhomogeneous ultrarelativistic QED plasma are studied. It is shown that the sign of nonlinear turbulent Landau damping corresponds to an instability of the spacelike modes and, for sufficiently large turbulent fields, to an actual instability of a system. Modification of plasmon dispersion relations due to turbulent effects are studied.

On Kinetic Theory of Energy Losses in Randomly Heterogeneous Medium

We derive equation describing distribution of energy losses of the particle propagating in fractal medium with quenched and dynamic heterogeneities. We show that in the case of the medium with fractal dimension $2<D<3$ the losses $Δ$ are characterized by the sublinear anomalous dependence $Δ\sim x^α$ with power-law dependence on the distance $x$ from the surface and exponent $α=D-2$.

Anomalous energy losses in fractal medium

We derive equation describing distribution of energy losses of the particle propagating in fractal medium with quenched and dynamic heterogeneities. We show that in the case of the medium with fractal dimension $2<D<3$ the losses of energy are described by the Mittag-Leffler renewal process. The average energy loss of the particle experiences anomalous drift $Δ\sim x^α$ with power-law dependence on the distance $x$ from the surface and exponent $α=D-2$.

Market Mill Dependence Pattern in the Stock Market: Multiscale Conditional Dynamics

Market Mill is a complex dependence pattern leading to nonlinear correlations and predictability in intraday dynamics of stock prices. The present paper puts together previous efforts to build a dynamical model reflecting the market mill asymmetries. We show that certain properties of the conditional dynamics at a single time scale such as a characteristic shape of an asymmetry generating component of the conditional probability distribution result in the "elementary" market mill pattern. This asymmetry generating component matches the empirical distribution obtained from the market data. We discuss these properties as a mixture of trend-preserving and contrarian strategies used by market agents. Three basic types of asymmetry patterns characterizing individual stocks are outlined. Multiple time scale considerations make the resulting "composite" mill similar to the empirical market mill patterns. Multiscale model also reflects a multi-agent nature of the market.

Unitarization of Gluon Distribution in the Doubly Logarithmic Regime at High Density

We analyze the general nonlinear evolution equations for multi gluon correlators derived in hep-ph/9709432 by restricting ourselves to a double logarithmic region. In this region our evolution equation becomes local in transverse momentum space and amenable to simple analysis. It provides a complete nonlinear generalization of the GLR equation. We find that the full double log evolution at high density becomes strikingly different from its linear doubly logarithmic DGLAP counterpart. An effective mass is induced by the nonlinear corrections which at high densities slows down the evolution considerably. We show that at small values of impact parameter the gluonic density grows as a logarithm of energy. At higher values of impact parameter the growth is faster, since the density of gluons is lower and nonlinearities are less important.

On Event-by-Event Fluctuations in Nuclear Collisions

We demonstrate that a new type of analysis in heavy-ion collisions, based on an event-by-event analysis of the transverse momentum distribution, allows us to obtain information on secondary interactions and collective behaviour that is not available from the inclusive spectra. Using a random walk model as a simple phenomenological description of initial state scattering in collisions with heavy nuclei, we show that the event-by-event measurement allows a quantitative determination of this effect, well within the resolution achievable with the new generation of large acceptance hadron spectrometers. The preliminary data of the NA49 collaboration on transverse momentum fluctuations indicate qualitatively different behaviour than that obtained within the random walk model. The results are discussed in relation to the thermodynamic and hydrodynamic description of nuclear collisions.

Energy Losses (Gains) of Massive Coloured Particles in Stochastic Colour Medium

The propagation of massive coloured particles in stochastic background chromoelectric field is studied using the semiclassical equations of motion. Depending on the nature of the stochastic background we obtain the formulae for the energy losses of heavy coloured projectile in nonperturbative hadronic medium and for the energy gains in the stochastic field present, e.g., in the turbulent plasma. The result appears to be significantly dependent on the form of the correlation function of stochastic external field
