Boundary one-point function of the rational six-vertex model with partial domain wall boundary conditions: explicit formulas and scaling properties

We consider the six-vertex model with the rational weights on an $s\times N$ square lattice, $s\leq N$, with partial domain wall boundary conditions. We study the one-point function at the boundary where the free boundary conditions are imposed. For a finite lattice, it can be computed by the quantum inverse scattering method in terms of determinants. In the large $N$ limit, the result boils down to an explicit terminating series in the parameter of the weights. Using the saddle-point method for an equivalent integral representation, we show that as $s$ next tends to infinity, the one-point function demonstrates a step-wise behavior; at the vicinity of the step it scales as the error function. We also show that the asymptotic expansion of the one-point function can be computed from a second-order ordinary differential equation.

Determinant formulas for the five-vertex model

We consider the five-vertex model on a finite square lattice with fixed boundary conditions such that the configurations of the model are in a one-to-one correspondence with the boxed plane partitions (3D Young diagrams which fit into a box of given size). The partition function of an inhomogeneous model is given in terms of a determinant. For the homogeneous model, it can be given in terms of a Hankel determinant. We also show that in the homogeneous case the partition function is a $τ$-function of the sixth Painlevé equation with respect to the rapidity variable of the weights.

Integral formulas and antisymmetrization relations for the six-vertex model

We study the relationship between various integral formulas for nonlocal correlation functions of the six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions. Specifically, we show how the known representation for the emptiness formation probability can be derived from that for the so-called row configuration probability. A crucial ingredient in the proof is a relation expressing the result of antisymmetrization of some given function with respect to permutations in two sets of its variables in terms of the Izergin-Korepin partition function. This relation generalizes another one obtained by Tracy and Widom in the context of the asymmetric simple exclusion process.

Generalized emptiness formation probability in the six-vertex model

In the six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions, the emptiness formation probability is the probability that a rectangular region in the top left corner of the lattice is frozen. We generalize this notion to the case where the frozen region has the shape of a generic Young diagram. We derive here a multiple integral representation for this correlation function.

Thermodynamics of the six-vertex model in an L-shaped domain

We consider the six-vertex model in an L-shaped domain of the square lattice, with domain wall boundary conditions. For free-fermion vertex weights the partition function can be expressed in terms of some Hankel determinant, or equivalently as a Coulomb gas with discrete measure and a non-polynomial potential with two hard walls. We use Coulomb gas methods to study the partition function in the thermodynamic limit. We obtain the free energy of the six-vertex model as a function of the parameters describing the geometry of the scaled L-shaped domain. Under variations of these parameters the system undergoes a third-order phase transition. The result can also be considered in the context of dimer models, for the perfect matchings of the Aztec diamond graph with a cut-off corner.

Time and temperature-dependent correlation function of an impurity in a one-dimensional Fermi gas as a Fredholm determinant

We investigate a free one-dimensional spinless Fermi gas, and the Tonks-Girardeau gas interacting with a single impurity particle of equal mass. We obtain a Fredholm determinant representation for the time-dependent correlation function of the impurity particle. This representation is valid for an arbitrary temperature and an arbitrary repulsive or attractive impurity-gas $δ$-function interaction potential. It includes, as particular cases, the representations obtained for zero temperature and arbitrary repulsion in [Nucl. Phys. B 892, 83 (2015)], and for arbitrary temperature and infinite repulsion in [Nucl. Phys. B 520, 594 (1998)].
