On rectifiable measures in Carnot groups: existence of density

In this paper we start a detailed study of a new notion of rectifiability in Carnot groups: we say that a Radon measure is Ph\mathscr{P}_h-rectifiable, for h∈Nh\in\mathbb N, if it has positive hh-lower density and finite hh-upper density almost everywhere, and, at almost every point, it admits a unique tangent measure up to multiples. First, we compare Ph\mathscr{P}_h-rectifiability with other notions of rectifiability previously known in the literature in the setting of Carnot groups, and we prove that it is strictly weaker than them. Second, we prove several structure properties of Ph\mathscr{P}_h-rectifiable measures. Namely, we prove that the support of a Ph\mathscr P_h-rectifiabile measure is almost everywhere covered by sets satisfying a cone-like property, and in the particular case of Ph\mathscr P_h-rectifiabile measures with complemented tangents, we show that they are supported on the union of intrinsically Lipschitz and differentiable graphs. Such a covering property is used to prove the main result of this paper: we show that a Ph\mathscr{P}_h-rectifiable measure has almost everywhere positive and finite hh-density whenever the tangents admit at least one complementary subgroup.

On rectifiable measures in Carnot groups: Marstrand-Mattila rectifiability criterion

In this paper we continue the study of the notion of P\mathscr{P}-rectifiability in Carnot groups. We say that a Radon measure is Ph\mathscr{P}_h-rectifiable, for h∈Nh\in\mathbb N, if it has positive hh-lower density and finite hh-upper density almost everywhere, and, at almost every point, it admits a unique tangent measure up to multiples. In this paper we prove a Marstrand--Mattila rectifiability criterion in arbitrary Carnot groups for P\mathscr{P}-rectifiable measures with tangent planes that admit a normal complementary subgroup. Namely, in this co-normal case, even if a priori the tangent planes at a point might not be the same at different scales, a posteriori the measure has a unique tangent almost everywhere. Since every horizontal subgroup of a Carnot group has a normal complement, our criterion applies in the particular case in which the tangents are one-dimensional horizontal subgroups. Hence, as an immediate consequence of our Marstrand--Mattila rectifiability criterion and a result of Chousionis--Magnani--Tyson, we obtain the one-dimensional Preiss's theorem in the first Heisenberg group H1\mathbb H^1. More precisely, we show that a Radon measure ϕϕ on H1\mathbb H^1 with positive and finite one-density with respect to the Koranyi distance is absolutely continuous with respect to the one-dimensional Hausdorff measure H1\mathcal{H}^1, and it is supported on a one-rectifiable set in the sense of Federer, i.e., it is supported on the countable union of the images of Lipschitz maps from A⊆RA\subseteq \mathbb R to H1\mathbb H^1.
