Multivariate General Compound Point Processes in Limit Order Books

In this paper, we focus on a new generalization of multivariate general compound Hawkes process (MGCHP), which we referred to as the multivariate general compound point process (MGCPP). Namely, we applied a multivariate point process to model the order flow instead of the Hawkes process. Law of large numbers (LLN) and two functional central limit theorems (FCLTs) for the MGCPP were proved in this work. Applications of the MGCPP in the limit order market were also considered. We provided numerical simulations and comparisons for the MGCPP and MGCHP by applying Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, and Intel trading data.

A Semi-Markovian Modeling of Limit Order Markets

R. Cont and A. de Larrard (SIAM J. Finan. Math, 2013) introduced a tractable stochastic model for the dynamics of a limit order book, computing various quantities of interest such as the probability of a price increase or the diffusion limit of the price process. As suggested by empirical observations, we extend their framework to 1) arbitrary distributions for book events inter-arrival times (possibly non-exponential) and 2) both the nature of a new book event and its corresponding inter-arrival time depend on the nature of the previous book event. We do so by resorting to Markov renewal processes to model the dynamics of the bid and ask queues. We keep analytical tractability via explicit expressions for the Laplace transforms of various quantities of interest. We justify and illustrate our approach by calibrating our model to the five stocks Amazon, Apple, Google, Intel and Microsoft on June 21^{st} 2012. As in R. Cont and A. de Larrard, the bid-ask spread remains constant equal to one tick, only the bid and ask queues are modeled (they are independent from each other and get reinitialized after a price change), and all orders have the same size.

General Semi-Markov Model for Limit Order Books: Theory, Implementation and Numerics

The paper considers a general semi-Markov model for Limit Order Books with two states, which incorporates price changes that are not fixed to one tick. Furthermore, we introduce an even more general case of the semi-Markov model for LimitOrder Books that incorporates an arbitrary number of states for the price changes. For both cases the justifications, diffusion limits, implementations and numerical results are presented for different Limit Order Book data: Apple, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Intel on 2012/06/21 and Cisco, Facebook, Intel, Liberty Global, Liberty Interactive, Microsoft, Vodafone from 2014/11/03 to 2014/11/07.

Currency Derivatives Pricing for Markov-modulated Merton Jump-diffusion Spot Forex Rate

We derived similar to Bo et al. (2010) results but in the case when the dynamics of the FX rate is driven by a general Merton jump-diffusion process. The main results of our paper are as follows: 1) formulas for the Esscher transform parameters which ensure that the martingale condition for the discounted foreign exchange rate is a martingale for a general Merton jump--diffusion process are derived; using the values of these parameters we proceeded to a risk-neural measure and provide new formulas for the distribution of jumps, the mean jump size, and the Poisson process intensity with respect to the measure; pricing formulas for European call foreign exchange options have been given as well; 2) obtained formulas are applied to the case of the exponential processes; 3) numerical simulations of European call foreign exchange option prices for different parameters are also provided; 4) codes for Matlab functions used in numerical simulations of option prices are given.

Pricing Currency Derivatives with Markov-modulated Levy Dynamics

Using a Levy process we generalize formulas in Bo et al.(2010) for the Esscher transform parameters for the log-normal distribution which ensure the martingale condition holds for the discounted foreign exchange rate. Using these values of the parameters we find a risk-neural measure and provide new formulas for the distribution of jumps, the mean jump size, and the Poisson process intensity with respect to to this measure. The formulas for a European call foreign exchange option are also derived. We apply these formulas to the case of the log-double exponential distribution of jumps. We provide numerical simulations for the European call foreign exchange option prices with different parameters.

Law of Large Numbers for Semi-Markov inhomogeneous Random Evolutions on Banach spaces

Using backward propagators, we construct inhomogeneous Random Evolutions on Banach spaces driven by (uniformly ergodic) Semi-Markov processes. After studying some of their properties (measurability, continuity, integral representation), we establish a Law of Large Numbers for such inhomogeneous Random Evolutions, and more precisely their weak convergence - in the Skorohod space $D$ - to an inhomogeneous semigroup. A martingale characterization of these inhomogeneous Random Evolutions is also obtained. Finally, we present applications to inhomogeneous Lévy Random Evolutions.
