Some additional results of the Hilda group orbital elements approximations

The quantitative characterization of amplitudes and periods of perturbations in orbital elements can help to our understanding the minor bodies dynamics, especially in case motion in vicinity of resonances. The main goal of this study is to present the new way of the orbital elements approximation by the results of numerical integration. We develop the approximation of orbital elements of the small body by the perturbations with combinational frequencies. We use a criterion of minimum of the standard error in our approximation. In result we give the approximation of orbital elements for the selected members of the Hilda group in the 3:2 mean motion resonance with Jupiter.

Chaos in some young asteroid families

Asteroid families are groups of minor planets that have a common origin in breakup events. The very young compact asteroid clusters are the natural laboratory to study resonance related chaotic and nonlinear dynamics. The present dynamical configurations and evolution of asteroid associations strongly depends on their ages. In present paper we allocate subclass of very young asteroid families (younger than 1 Myr). We show that resonance-related chaos can play a very important role in dynamics of very young asteroid families. In case of Datura family chaos may be explained by high order mean motion resonance 9:16 with Mars. In case Hobson family chaos is affected by secular resonance. In other considered cases (Kapbos cluster and Lucascavin cluster) origin of chaotic behavior is still unknown. The effect of resonance is very selective in all cases: we see very stable orbits in the vicinity of chaotic ones. In the high order resonance transfer from initial to final orbit take place by temporary capture in exact resonance. The large asteroids (Ceres, Vesta) can made significant effect on dynamic of small bodies in resonance. In some cases (as for Datura and Lucascavin family), their perturbations can extend area of chaotic motion.

New members of Datura family

Asteroid families are groups of minor planets which have a common origin in catastrophic disruptions. Young asteroid families are very interesting because they represent the product of their parent body's fragmentation before orbital and physical evolutionary processes could have changed them. A group of minor asteroids associated with the largest body Datura(1270) is of particular interest because it has enough known members and resides in the inner part of the main asteroid belt and is easy to observe. Up to now, 7 members of this family are known. Here we discuss three new members of the Datura Family: 338309(2002 VR17), 2002 RH291 and 2014 OE206. To prove that these recently-discovered members belong to the Datura family, we conducted numeric integration with all gravitational perturbation over the last 800 kyrs. In the results, we have found that 338309(2002 VR17) and 2002 RH291 are very close to the mean orbit of this family throughout the calculation. In the case of 2014 OE206, it has a strongly chaotic orbit. The possible explanation of this is in the resonance character of its orbit.

Pairs and groups of asteroids with nearest orbits in known families

The problem of origin and age of asteroid families is studied very intensively. First of all youngest families are interesting due to possibility of the reconstruction their collisional history. But in oldest families present objects with very close orbits some of them are products of recent collisions. The search for and studying of dynamics of such pairs of orbits is a main aim of the present paper. In result, two new young groups of minor planets are detected as well as some new members of known families.

Stability of binary on highly eccentric orbit

It is known, that possibility to capture on a satellite orbit is decreased with primary orbital eccentricity increasing. It means, that satellites of planet on eccentric orbit are less stable. We study problem by analytical and numeric methods. A difference between case of infinitesimal mass satellite and true binary system is shown. The dependence of orbital energy on external eccentricity is derived for binary system. In result of our studying, we can conclude, that extrasolar planets may have significantly smaller satellites, than planets in our solar system. Moreover, dependence on eccentricity makes restriction on giant planets migration in our Solar System. The application to a flight dynamics and mission design is discussed.

Capture in restricted four body problem

A number of irregular moons of the Jovian planets have recently been discovered. Most adequate way of their origin is capture, but detailed mechanism is unknown. A few possibilities are discussed: collisions, gas drag, tidal destruction of a binary asteroid. In this paper the capture process in restricted four body problem (RFBP) is researched. The interaction with regular satellite can be studied by this way as well as binary asteroid destruction in Hill sphere of planet. The energetic criteria of ballistic capture are studied and some numerical experiments are developed. It is confirmed, that capture in four body problem is more probable on retrograde than on prograde orbit. In according with our results, encounter with regular satellites is more effective mechanism to create an irregular satellite population, than a binary asteroid flyby.
