Fractional operators as traces of operator-valued curves

We relate non integer powers ${\mathcal L}^{s}$, $s>0$ of a given (unbounded) positive self-adjoint operator $\mathcal L$ in a real separable Hilbert space $\mathcal H$ with a certain differential operator of order $2\lceil{s}\rceil$, acting on even curves $\mathbb R\to \mathcal H$. This extends the results by Caffarelli--Silvestre and Stinga--Torrea regarding the characterization of fractional powers of differential operators via an extension problem.

Spectral asymptotics for a class of integro-differential equations arising in the theory of fractional Gaussian processes

We study spectral problems for integro-differential equations arising in the theory of Gaussian processes similar to the fractional Brownian motion. We generalize the method of Chigansky--Kleptsyna and obtain the two-term eigenvalue asymptotics for such equations. Application to the small ball probabilities in $L_2$-norm is given.

Exact constants in Poincare type inequalities for functions with zero mean boundary traces

In the paper, we investigate Poincare type inequalities for the functions having zero mean value on the whole boundary of a Lipschitz domain or on a measurable part of the boundary. We derive exact and easily computable constants for some basic domains (rectangles, cubes, and right triangles). In the last section, we derive an a estimate of the difference between the exact solutions of two boundary value problems. Constants in Poincare type inequalities enter these estimates, which provide guaranteed a posteriori error control.

Oblique derivative problem for non-divergence parabolic equations with discontinuous in time coefficients

We consider an oblique derivative problem for non-divergence parabolic equations with discontinuous in $t$ coefficients in a half-space. We obtain weighted coercive estimates of solutions in anisotropic Sobolev spaces. We also give an application of this result to linear parabolic equations in a bounded domain. In particular, if the boundary is of class ${\cal C}^{1,δ}$, $δ\in (0,1]$, then we present a coercive estimate of solutions in weighted anisotropic Sobolev spaces, where the weight is a power of the distance to the boundary.

Small Ball Probabilities for Smooth Gaussian fields and Tensor Products of Compact Operators

We find the logarithmic $L_2$-small ball asymptotics for a class of zero mean Gaussian fields with covariances having the structure of "tensor product". The main condition imposed on marginal covariances is slow growth at the origin of counting functions of their eigenvalues. That is valid for Gaussian functions with smooth covariances. Another type of marginal functions considered as well are classical Wiener process, Brownian bridge, Ornstein--Uhlenbeck process, etc., in the case of special self-similar measure of integration. Our results are based on new theorem on spectral asymptotics for the tensor products of compact self-adjoint operators in Hilbert space which is of independent interest. Thus, we continue to develop the approach proposed in the paper \cite{KNN}, where the regular behavior at infinity of marginal eigenvalues was assumed.

The Harnack inequality and related properties for solutions to elliptic and parabolic equations with divergence-free lower-order coefficients

We discuss the problem how "bad" may be lower-order coefficients in elliptic and parabolic second order equations to ensure some qualitative properties of solution such as strong maximum principle, Harnack's inequality, Liouville's theorem. The answers are given in terms of the Lebesgue spaces and the Morrey spaces.
