Blow-up and lifespan estimate for wave equations with critical damping term of space-dependent type related to Glassey conjecture

The main purpose of the present paper is to study the blow-up problem of the wave equation with space-dependent damping in the \textit{scale-invariant case} and time derivative nonlinearity with small initial data. Under appropriate initial data which are compactly supported, by using a test function method and taking into account the effect of the damping term ($\fracμ{\sqrt{1+|x|^2}}u_t$), we provide that in higher dimensions the blow-up region is given by $p \in (1, p_G(N+μ)]$ where $p_G(N)$ is the Glassey exponent. Furthermore, we shall establish a blow-up region, independent of $μ$ given by $p\in (1, 1+\frac{2}{N}),$ for appropriate initial data in the energy space with noncompact support.

Some nonexistence results for space-time fractional Schr{ö}dinger equations without gauge invariance

In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem in $\mathbb{R}^N$, $N\geq1$, for semi-linear Schrödinger equations with space-time fractional derivatives. We discuss the nonexistence of global $L^1$ or $L^2$ weak solutions in the subcritical and critical cases under some conditions on the initial data and the nonlinear term. Furthermore, the nonexistence of local $L^1$ or $L^2$ weak solutions in the supercritical case are studied.

Blow up results for semi-linear structural damped wave model with nonlinear memory

This article is to study the nonexistence of global solutions to semi-linear structurally damped wave equation with nonlinear memory in $\R^n$ for any space dimensions $n\ge 1$ and for the initial arbitrarily small data being subject to the positivity assumption. We intend to apply the method of a modified test function to establish blow-up results and to overcome some difficulties as well caused by the well-known fractional Laplacian $(-Δ)^{σ/2}$ in structural damping terms.

Blow-up rates for higher-order semilinear parabolic equations with nonlinear memory term

In this paper, we establish blow-up rates for higher-order semilinear parabolic equations with nonlocal in time nonlinearity with no positive assumption on the solution. We also give Liouville-type theorem for higher-order semilinear parabolic equation with infinite memory nonlinear term which plays the main tools to prove our blow-up rate result. Finally, we study the well-posedness of mild solutions.

Liouville-type theorems for sign-changing solutions to nonlocal elliptic inequalities and systems with variable-exponent nonlinearities

We consider the fractional elliptic inequality with variable-exponent nonlinearity $$ (-Δ)^{\fracα{2}} u+λ\, Δu \geq |u|^{p(x)}, \quad x\in\mathbb{R}^N, $$ where $N\geq 1$, $α\in (0,2)$, $λ\in\mathbb{R}$ is a constant, $p: \mathbb{R}^N\to (1,\infty)$ is a measurable function, and $(-Δ)^{\fracα{2}}$ is the fractional Laplacian operator of order $\fracα{2}$. A Liouville-type theorem is established for the considered problem. Namely, we obtain sufficient conditions under which the only weak solution is the trivial one. Next, we extend our study to systems of fractional elliptic inequalities with variable-exponent nonlinearities. Besides the consideration of variable-exponent nonlinearities, the novelty of this work consists in investigating sign-changing solutions to the considered problems. Namely, to the best of our knowledge, only nonexistence results of positive solutions to fractional elliptic problems were invetigated previously. Our approach is based on the nonlinear capacity method combined with a pointwise estimate of the fractional Laplacian of some test functions, which was derived by Fujiwara (2018) (see also Dao and Reissig (2019)). Note that the standard nonlinear capacity method cannot be applied to the considered problems due to the change of sign of solutions.

A global existence result for two-dimensional semilinear strongly damped wave equation with mixed nonlinearity in an exterior domain

We study two-dimensional semilinear strongly damped wave equation with mixed nonlinearity $|u|^p+|u_t|^q$ in an exterior domain, where $p,q>1$. Assuming the smallness of initial data in exponentially weighted spaces and some conditions on powers of nonlinearity, we prove global (in time) existence of small data energy solution with suitable higher regularity by using a weighted energy method.

Blow-up of solutions to semilinear strongly damped wave equations with different nonlinear terms in an exterior domain

In this paper, we consider the initial boundary value problem in an exterior domain for semilinear strongly damped wave equations with power nonlinear term of the derivative-type $|u_t|^q$ or the mixed-type $|u|^p+|u_t|^q$, where $p,q>1$. On one hand, employing the Banach fixed-point theorem we prove local (in time) existence of mild solutions. On the other hand, under some conditions for initial data and the exponents of power nonlinear terms, the blow-up results are derived by applying the test function method.
