Universal Large-order asymptotic behavior of the Strong-coupling and High-Temperature series expansions

For theories that exhibit second order phase transition, we conjecture that the large-order asymptotic behavior of the strong-coupling ( High-Temperature) series expansion takes the form $σ^{n} n^{b}$ where $b$ is a universal parameter. The associated critical exponent is then given by $b+1$. The series itself can be approximated by the hypergeometric approximants $_{p}F_{p-1}$ which can mimic the same large-order behavior of the given series. Near the tip of the branch cut, the hypergeometric function $_{p}F_{p-1}$ has a power-law behavior from which the critical exponent and critical coupling can be extracted. The conjecture has been tested in this work for the perturbation series of the ground state energy of the Yang-Lee model as a strong-coupling form of the $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric $iϕ^3$ theory and the High-Temperature expansion within the Ising model. From the known $b$ parameter for the Yang-Lee model, we obtained the exact critical exponents which reflects the universality of $b$. Very accurate prediction for $b$ has been obtained from the many orders available for the High-Temperature series expansion of the Ising model which in turn predicts accurate critical exponent. Apart from critical exponents, the hypergeometric approximants for the Yang-Lee model show almost exact predictions for the ground state energy from low orders of perturbation series as input.

Critical Exponents of the O(N)-symmetric $ϕ^4$ Model from the \boldmath{\large{ $\varepsilon^7$}} Hypergeometric-Meijer Resummation

We extract the $\varepsilon$-expansion from the recently obtained seven-loop $g$-expansion for the renormalization group functions of the $O(N)$-symmetric model. The different series obtained for the critical exponents $ν,\ ω$ and $η$ have been resummed using our recently introduced hypergeometric-Meijer resummation algorithm. In three dimensions, very precise results have been obtained for all the critical exponents for $N=0,1,2,3$ and $4$. To shed light on the obvious improvement of the predictions at this order, we obtained the divergence of the specific heat critical exponent $α$ for the $XY$ model. We found the result $-0.0123(11)$ which is compatible with the famous experimental result of -0.0127(3) from the specific heat of zero gravity liquid helium superfluid transition while the six-loop Borel with conformal mapping resummation result in literature gives the value -0.007(3). For the challenging case of resummation of the $\varepsilon$-expansion series in two dimensions, we showed that our resummation results reflect a significant improvement to the previous six-loop resummation predictions.

Precise Critical Exponents of the O(N)-Symmetric Quantum field Model using Hypergeometric-Meijer Resummation

In this work, we show that one can select different types of Hypergeometric approximants for the resummation of divergent series with different large-order growth factors. Being of $n!$ growth factor, the divergent series for the $\varepsilon$-expansion of the critical exponents of the $O(N)$-symmetric model is approximated by the Hypergeometric functions $_{k+1}F_{k-1}$. The divergent $_{k+1}F_{k-1}$ functions are then resummed using their equivalent Meijer-G function representation. The convergence of the resummation results for the exponents $ν$,\ $η$ and $ω$ has been shown to improve systematically in going from low order to the highest known six-loops order. Our six-loops resummation results are very competitive to the recent six-loops Borel with conformal mapping predictions and to recent Monte Carlo simulation results. To show that precise results extend for high $N$ values, we listed the five-loops results for $ν$ which are very accurate as well. The recent seven-loops order ($g$-series) for the renormalization group functions $β,γ_{ϕ^2}$ and $γ_{m^2}$ have been resummed too. Accurate predictions for the critical coupling and the exponents $ν$, $η$ and $ω$ have been extracted from $β$,$γ_{ϕ^2}$ and $γ_{m^2}$ approximants.

Weak-Coupling, Strong-Coupling and Large-Order Parametrization of the Hypergeometric-Meijer Approximants

Without Borel or Pad$\acute{e}$ techniques, we show that for a divergent series with $n!$ large-order growth factor, the set of Hypergeometric series $_{k+1}F_{k-1}$ represents suitable approximants for which there exist no free parameters. The divergent $_{k+1}F_{k-1}$ series are then resummed via their representation in terms of the Meijer-G function. The choice of $_{k+1}F_{k-1}$ accelerates the convergence even with only weak-coupling information as input. For more acceleration of the convergence, we employ the strong-coupling and large-order information. We obtained a new constraint that relates the difference of numerator and denominator parameters in the Hypergeometric approximant to one of the large-order parameters. To test the validity of that constraint, we employed it to obtain the exact partition function of the zero-dimensional $ϕ^4$ scalar field theory. The algorithm is also applied for the resummation of the ground state energies of $ϕ_{0+1}^{4}$ and $iϕ_{0+1}^{3}$ scalar field theories. We get accurate results for the whole coupling space and the precision is improved systematically in using higher orders. Precise results for the critical exponents of the $O(4)$-symmetric field model in three dimensions have been obtained from resummation of the recent six-loops order of the corresponding perturbation series. The recent seven-loops order for the $β$-function of the $ϕ^{4}_{3+1}$ field theory has been resummed which shows non-existence of fixed points. The first resummation result of the seven-loop series representing the fractal dimension of the two-dimensional self-avoiding polymer is presented here where we get a very accurate value of $d_f=1.3307$ compared to its exact value ($4/3\approx1.3333$).

Extrapolating the precision of the Hypergeometric Resummation to Strong couplings with application to the $\mathcal{PT-}$Symmetric $iϕ^{3}$ Field Theory

In PRL 115, 143001 (2015), H. Mera et al. developed a new simple but precise Hypergeometric Resummation technique. In this work, we suggest to obtain half of the parameters of the Hypergeometric function from the strong coupling expansion of the physical quantity. Since these parameters are taking now their exact values they can improve the precision of the technique for the whole range of the coupling values. The second order approximant $\,_{2}F_{1}$ of the algorithm is applied to resum the perturbation series of the ground state energy of the $\mathcal{PT-}$symmetric $(iϕ^{3})_{0+1}$ field theory. It gives accurate results compared to exact calculations from the literature specially for very large coupling values. The $\mathcal{PT-}$ symmetry breaking of the Yang-Lee model has been investigated where third, fourth and fifth orders were able to get very accurate results when compared to other resummation methods involving $150$ orders. The critical exponent $ν$ of the $O(4)$-symmetric model in three dimensions has been precisely obtained using only first order of perturbation series as input. The algorithm can be extended easily to accommodate any order of perturbation series in using the generalized Hypergeometric function $\,_{k+1}F_{k}$ as it shares the same analytic properties with $\,_{2}F_{1}$.

Vacuum Stability of the $\mathcal{PT}$-Symmetric $\left( -ϕ^{4}\right) $ Scalar Field Theory

In this work, we study the vacuum stability of the classical unstable $\left( -ϕ^{4}\right) $ scalar field potential. Regarding this, we obtained the effective potential, up to second order in the coupling, for the theory in $1+1$ and $2+1$ space-time dimensions. We found that the obtained effective potential is bounded from below, which proves the vacuum stability of the theory in space-time dimensions higher than the previously studied $0+1$ case. In our calculations, we used the canonical quantization regime in which one deals with operators rather than classical functions used in the path integral formulation. Therefore, the non-Hermiticity of the effective field theory is obvious. Moreover, the method we employ implements the canonical equal-time commutation relations and the Heisenberg picture for the operators. Thus, the metric operator is implemented in the calculations of the transition amplitudes. Accordingly, the method avoids the very complicated calculations needed in other methods for the metric operator. To test the accuracy of our results, we obtained the exponential behavior of the vacuum condensate for small coupling values, which has been obtained in the literature using other methods. We assert that this work is interesting, as all the studies in the literature advocate the stability of the $\left( -ϕ^{4}\right) $ theory at the quantum mechanical level while our work extends the argument to the level of field quantization.

On the $iϕ^{3}$ $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric Scalar Field Theory

In this work, we show that, for the $iϕ^{3}$ scalar field theory, their exists a contradiction between the assumption that the field is real and the fact that the quantized as well as the classical fields have to satisfy the Klein-Gordon equation. In solving the Klein-Gordon equation for the theory under investigation, we realized that the field is a pure imaginary solitary wave which spoils out the non-Hermiticity of the theory. Thus, instead of being non-Hermitian, the $iϕ^{3}$ scalar field theory is a kind of a Hermitian-Lee-Wick theory which suffers from the existence of the famous ghost states and instability problems. We applied a Canonical transformation to obtain a Non-Hermitian and non-$\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric representation which leads to the invalidity of the previous trials in the literature to cure the ghost states problem. Moreover, the solitonic solution is a non-topological one which is a very strange result to appear for a one component field theory. To account for this strange result, we conjecture that the $iϕ^{3}$ scalar field theory has an equivalent Hermitian and non-Lee wick theory that have a conserved Noether current.
