Synchronization of Josephson junction in series array

Multi-qubit quantum processors coupled to networking provides the state-of-the-art quantum computing platform. However, each qubit has unique eigenfrequency even though fabricated in the same process. To continue quantum gate operations besides the detection and correction of errors it is required that the qubits must be synchronized in the same frequency. This study uses Kuramoto model which is a link between statistical mean-field technique and non-linear dynamics to synchronize the qubits applying small noise in the system. This noise could be any externally applied noise function or just noise from the difference of frequencies of qubits. The Kuramoto model tunes the coupled oscillators adjusting the coupling strength between the oscillators to evolve from the state of incoherence to the synchronized state.

Hadron resonance gas model with repulsive mean-field interactions: specific heat, isothermal compressibility and speed of sound

We investigate the effect of repulsive interaction between hadrons on the specific heat ($C_V$), isothermal compressibility ($κ_{T}$) and the speed of sound ($C_s^2$) of hot and dense hadronic matter. The repulsive interactions are included through a mean-field approach where the single particle energy picks correction term due to mean field interactions between hadrons. This correction term is proportional to the number density of hadrons. We assume different mean-field interactions for mesons and baryons. We also confront $C_V$ and $C_s^2$ with existing lattice QCD simulation results. We find that the repulsive interactions have very strong effect on $C_V$ and $C_s^2$ while its effect on $κ_T$ is very mild. We finally discuss the implications of our results in the context of heavy-ion collision experiments.

Interpreting correlated observations of cosmic rays and gamma-rays from Centaurus A with a proton blazar inspired model

The nearest active radio galaxy Centaurus (Cen) A is a gamma-ray emitter in GeV to TeV energy scale. The High Energy Stereoscopic System (H.E.S.S.) and non-simultaneous Fermi-LAT observation indicate an unusual spectral hardening above few GeV energies in the gamma-ray spectrum of Cen A. Very recently the H.E.S.S. observatory resolved the kilo parsec (kpc)-scale jets in Centaurus A at TeV energies. On the other hand, the Pierre Auger Observatory (PAO) detects a few ultra high energy cosmic ray (UHECR) events from Cen-A. The proton blazar inspired model, which considers acceleration of both electrons and hadronic cosmic rays in AGN jet, can explain the observed coincident high energy neutrinos and gamma rays from Ice-cube detected AGN jets. Here we have employed the proton blazar inspired model to explain the observed GeV to TeV gamma-ray spectrum features including the spectrum hardening at GeV energies along with the PAO observation on cosmic rays from Cen-A. Our findings suggest that the model can explain consistently the observed electromagnetic spectrum in combination with the appropriate number of UHECRs from Cen A.

Modified Excluded Volume Hadron Resonance Gas Model with Lorentz Contraction

In this work we discuss a modified version of Excluded Volume Hadron Resonance Gas model and also study the effect of Lorentz contraction of the excluded volume on scaled pressure and susceptibilities of conserved charges. We find that the Lorentz contraction, coupled with the variety of excluded volume parameters reproduce the lattice QCD data quite satisfactorily.

Nonlinear waves in a hot, viscous and nonextensive quark gluon plasma

The effects of the non-extensive statistics on the nonlinear propagation of perturbations have been studied within the scope of relativistic second order dissipative hydrodynamics with the non-extensive equation of state. We have shown that the equations, describing the propagation of nonlinear waves under such situation are KdV-type (Korteweg-De Vries). Apart from their preserved solitonic behaviour the dissipative nature of these waves are also observed. The waves with larger amplitude and width dissipate less and propagate faster and these waves deplete more for both smaller values of Tsallis parameter ($q$) and temperature ($T$) of the medium. For vanishingly small transport coefficients the nonlinear waves show breaking nature. These findings suggest that the nature of the propagation of the nonlinear waves may serve as a good probe to differentiate between the extensive and non-extensive thermodynamic nature of a fluid, such as the quark-gluon plasma, produced in relativistic nuclear collisions.

Interacting hadron resonance gas model in magnetic field and the fluctuations of conserved charges

In this paper we discuss the interacting hadron resonance gas model in presence of a constant external magnetic field. The short range repulsive interaction between hadrons are accounted through van der Waals excluded volume correction to the ideal gas pressure. Here we take the sizes of hadrons as $r_π$ (pion radius) $= 0$ fm, $r_K$ (kaon radius) $= 0.35$ fm, $r_m$ (all other meson radii) $= 0.3$ fm and $r_b$ (baryon radii) $= 0.5$ fm. We analyse the effect of uniform background magnetic field on the thermodynamic properties of interacting hadron gas. We especially discuss the effect of interactions on the behaviour of magnetization of low temperature hadronic matter. The vacuum terms have been regularized using magnetic field independent regularization scheme. We find that the magnetization of hadronic matter is positive which implies that the low temperature hadronic matter is paramagnetic. We further find that the repulsive interactions have very negligible effect on the overall magnetization of the hadronic matter and the paramagnetic property of the hadronic phase remains unchanged. We have also investigated the effects of short range repulsive interactions as well as the magnetic field on the baryon and electric charge number susceptibilities of hadronic matter within the ambit of excluded volume hadron resonance gas model.

Suppression of quarkonia in PbPb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV

We study different processes responsible for the modification of quarkonia yields in the medium produced in PbPb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV. The quarkonia and heavy flavour cross sections are estimated using the measurements in pp collisions at LHC energies and shadowing corrections are obtained using the EPS09 parametrizations. A kinetic model is used which incorporates quarkonia suppression inside the Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP), suppression due to hadronic comovers, and regeneration from recombination of heavy quark pairs. The quarkonia dissociation cross section due to gluon collisions, including both color-electric dipole and color-magnetic dipole transitions, has been employed. The regeneration rate is obtained using the principle of detailed balance. The effect of these processes on the nuclear modification factors for both $\Jpsi$ and $Υ$ in different ranges of transverse momentum $\pT$ and rapidity has been studied for PbPb collisions at $\sNN =$ 5.02 TeV. The calculations are compared with the available results from LHC experiments. Both the suppression and regeneration due to a QGP are effective in the low and intermediate $\pT$ range. The large observed suppression of $\Jpsi$ at $\pT~>$ 10 GeV/$c$ is larger than the suppression expected due to gluon dissociation.

Microscopic folding model analysis of the radiative $(n,γ)$ reactions near the $Z=28$ shell-closure and the weak s-process

The radiative thermal neutron capture cross sections over the range of thermal energies from 1 keV to 1 MeV are studied in statistical Hauser-Feshbach formalism. The optical model potential is constructed by folding the density dependent M3Y nucleon-nucleon interaction with radial matter densities of target nuclei obtained from relativistic-mean-field (RMF) theory. The standard nuclear reaction code TALYS1.8 is used for calculation of cross sections. The nuclei studied in the present work reside near the $Z=28$ proton shell closure and are of astrophysical interests taking part in p-, s-, and r-process of nucleosynthesis. The Maxwellian-averaged cross-section (MACS) values for energies important for astrophysical applications are presented.

Microscopic potential model analysis of the radiative $(n,γ)$ cross sections near the $Z=50$ shell closure taking part in the main s-component

The neutron capture cross sections have been studied near the $Z=50$ closed shell for a number of nuclei those take part in heavy element nucleosynthesis, the slow and the rapid neutron capture processes and the proton capture process. An optical model potential is constructed in theoretical approach by folding the density dependent M3y purely real nucleon-nucleon interaction with the target radial matter density in relativistic mean field (RMF) approach. The standard code TALYS1.8 is used for cross-section calculation. We have presented the Maxwellian-averaged capture cross-section (MACS) values and stellar neutron capture reaction rates at astrophysically relevant thermal energies and temperatures.

Radiative proton capture cross sections in the mass range $40-55$

Proton capture cross sections in the energy range of astrophysical interest for mass region 40-54 have been calculated in the Hauser-Feshbach formalism with reaction code TALYS1.6. The density dependent M3Y effective nucleon-nucleon interaction folded with target radial matter densities from relativistic mean field approach is used to obtain the semi-microscopic optical potential. A definite normalization of potential-well depths has been used over the entire mass region. The $(p,γ)$ rates of some reactions, important in the astrophysical scenario, are calculated using the potential in the relevant mass region.

Fluctuation of strongly interacting matter in Polyakov Nambu Jona-Lasinio model in finite volume

We have estimated the susceptibilities of conserved charges for 2-flavor strongly interacting matter with varying system sizes, using the Polyakov loop enhanced Nambu Jona-Lasinio model. The susceptibilities for vanishing baryon densities are found to show a scaling with the system volume in the hadronic as well as partonic phase. This scaling breaks down for a temperature range of about 30-50 MeV around the cross-over region. Simultaneous measurements of the various susceptibilities may thus indicate how close to the cross-over region the freeze-out occurs for the fireball created in heavy-ion collision experiments.

Massive neutron stars with hyperonic core : a case study with the IUFSU model

The recent discoveries of massive neutron stars, such as PSR J$0348+0432$ and PSR J$1614-2230$, have raised questions about the existence of exotic matter such as hyperons in the neutron star core. The validity of many established equations of states (EoS's) like the GM1 and FSUGold are also questioned. We investigate the existence of hyperonic matter in the central regions of massive neutron stars using Relativistic Mean Field (RMF) theory with the recently proposed IUFSU model. The IUFSU model is extended by including hyperons to study the neutron star in $β$ equilibrium. The effect of different hyperonic potentials, namely $Σ$ and $Ξ$ potentials, on the EoS and hence the maximum mass of neutron stars has been studied. We have also considered the effect of stellar rotation since the observed massive stars are pulsars. It has been found that a maximum mass of $1.93M_{\odot}$, which is within the 3$σ$ limit of the observed mass of PSR J$0348+0432$, can be obtained for rotating stars, with certain choices of the hyperonic potentials. The said star contains a fair amount of hyperons near the core.

Microscopic Study of (p,$γ$) Reactions in Mass Region A=110-125

Low energy proton capture reactions have been studied in statistical model using the semi-microscopic optical potential in the mass range A=110-125. Nuclear density obtained from relativistic mean field calculation has been folded with nucleon-nucleon interaction to obtain the optical potential. Theoretical results have been compared with experimental measurements to normalize the potential. Results have also been compared with a standard calculation available in the literature.

Thermodynamics and fluctuations of conserved charges in Hadron Resonance Gas model in finite volume

The thermodynamics of hot and dense matter created in heavy-ion collision experiments are usually studied as a system of infinite volume. Here we report on possible effects for considering a finite system size for such matter in the framework of the Hadron Resonance Gas model. The bulk thermodynamic variables as well as the fluctuations of conserved charges are considered. We find that the finite size effects are insignificant once the observables are scaled with the respective volumes. The only substantial effect is found in the fluctuations of electric charge which may therefore be used to extract information about the volume of fireball created in heavy-ion collision experiments.

Fluctuations and correlations of conserved charges in an excluded volume hadron resonance gas model

We present temperature ($T$) and baryonic chemical potential ($μ_B$) dependence of higher order fluctuations and correlation between conserved charges in Excluded Volume Hadron Resonance Gas (EVHRG) model. Products of moments, such as ratio of variance to mean ($σ^2/M)$, product of skewness and standard deviation ($Sσ$), product of kurtosis and variance ($κσ^2$), for net-proton, net-kaon and net-charge have been evaluated on the phenomenologically determined freeze-out curve. Further, products of moments for net-proton and net-charge have been compared with the experimental data measured by STAR experiment. The dependence of the model result on the hadronic radius parameter has also been discussed.

Isospin symmetry breaking and baryon-isospin correlations from Polyakov$-$Nambu$-$Jona-Lasinio model

We present a study of the 1+1 flavor system of strongly interacting matter in terms of the Polyakov$-$Nambu$-$Jona-Lasinio model. We find that though the small isospin symmetry breaking brought in through unequal light quark masses is too small to affect the thermodynamics of the system in general, it may have significant effect in baryon-isospin correlations and have a measurable impact in heavy-ion collision experiments.

On the possibility of rho-meson condensation in neutron stars

The possibility of meson condensation in stars and in heavy-ion collisions has been discussed in the past. Here, we study whether rho meson condensation ($ρ^{-}$) can occur in very dense matter and determine the effect of strong magnetic fields on this condensation. We find that rho meson condensates can appear in the core of the neutron star assuming a rho mass which is reduced due to in-medium effects. We find that the magnetic field has a non-negligible effect in triggering condensation.

Quadrupole deformation in $Λ$-hypernuclei

Shapes of light normal nuclei and $Λ$-hypernuclei are investigated using relativistic mean field approach. The FSUGold parametrization is used for this purpose. The addition of a $Λ$ is found to change the shape of the energy surface towards prolate. The deformation in a $Λ$-hypernucleus, when the hyperon is in the first excited state, is also discussed. The effect of the inclusion of the hyperon on the nuclear radius is generally small with one exception.

General Relativistic effect on the energy deposition rate for neutrino pair annihilation above the equatorial plane along the symmetry axis near a rotating neutron star

The estimate of the energy deposition rate (EDR) for neutrino pair annihilation has been carried out. The EDR for the neutrinos coming from the equatorial plane of a rotating neutron star is calculated along the rotation axis using the Cook-Shapiro-Teukolsky (CST) metric. The neutrino trajectories and hence the neutrino emitted from the disk is affected by the redshift due to disk rotation and gravitation. The EDR is very sensitive to the value of the temperature and its variation along the disk. The rotation of the star has a negative effect on the EDR; it decreases with increase in rotational velocity.

Strange baryons, nuclear dripline and shrinkage : A Relativistic Mean Field study

Neutron and proton driplines of single-$Λ$ and double-$Λ$ hypernuclei, $Ξ^{-}$ hypernuclei as well as normal nuclei are studied within a relativistic mean field approach using an extended form of the FSU Gold Lagrangian density. Hyperons are found to produce bound nuclei beyond the normal nuclear driplines. Radii are found to decrease in hypernuclei near the driplines, in line with observations in light $Λ$ hypernuclei near the stability valley, The inclusion of a $Ξ^{-}$ introduces a much larger change in radii than one or more $Λ$'s.

Thermodynamic Properties of Strongly Interacting Matter in a Finite Volume using the Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model

We present the thermodynamic properties of strongly interacting matter in finite volume in the framework of Polyakov loop enhanced Nambu$-$Jona-lasinio model within mean field approximation. We considered both the 2 flavor and 2+1 flavor matter. Our primary observation was a qualitative change in the phase transition properties that resulted in the lowering of the temperature corresponding to the critical end point. This would make it favorable for detection in heavy-ion experiments that intend to create high density matter with considerably small temperatures. We further demonstrate the possibility of obtaining chiral symmetry restoration even within the confined phase in finite volumes.

Ground states and excited states of hypernuclei in Relativistic Mean Field approach

Hypernuclei have been studied within the framework of Relativistic Mean Field theory. The force FSU Gold has been extended to include hyperons. The effective hyperon-nucleon and nucleon-nucleon interactions have been obtained by fitting experimental energies in a number of hypernuclei over a wide range of mass. Calculations successfully describe various features including hyperon separation energy and single particle spectra of single-Λhypernuclei throughout the periodic table. We also extend this formalism to double-Λhypernuclei.

Net Charge Fluctuations as a signal of QGP from Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model

We report the first model study of the net charge fluctuations in terms of D-measure within the framework of the Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. Net charge fluctuation is estimated from the charge susceptibility evaluated using PNJL model. A parameterization of the freeze-out curve has been used to obtain D as a function of sqrt(s). We have discussed our results vis-a-vis recent experimental findings from ALICE collaboration.

Study of Beta Equilibrated 2+1 Flavor Quark Matter in PNJL Model

We report a first case study of the phase diagram of 2+1 flavor strongly interacting matter in $β-$equilibrium, using the Polyakov$-$Nambu$-$Jona-Lasinio model. Physical characteristics of relevant thermodynamic observables have been discussed. A comparative analysis with the corresponding observables in the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model is presented. We find distinct differences between the models in terms of a number of thermodynamic quantities like the speed of sound, specific heat, various number densities as well as entropy. The present study is expected to give us a better insight into the role that the superdense matter created in heavy ion collision experiments play in our understanding of the properties of matter inside the core of supermassive stars in the Universe.

Correlation between conserved charges in PNJL Model with multi-quark interactions

We present a study of correlations among conserved charges like baryon number, electric charge and strangeness in the framework of 2+1 flavor Polyakov loop extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model at vanishing chemical potentials, up to fourth order. Correlations up to second order have been measured in Lattice QCD which compares well with our estimates given the inherent difference in the pion masses in the two systems. Possible physical implications of these correlations and their importance in understanding the matter obtained in heavy-ion collisions are discussed. We also present comparison of the results with the commonly used unbound effective potential in the quark sector of this model.

Isospin asymmetric nuclear matter and properties of axisymmetric neutron stars

Pure hadronic compact stars, above a limiting value ($\approx$1.6 M$_\odot$) of their gravitational masses, to which predictions of most of other equations of state (EoSs) are restricted, can be reached from the equation of state (EoS) obtained using DDM3Y effective interaction. This effective interaction is found to be quite successful in providing unified description of elastic and inelastic scattering, various radioactivities and nuclear matter properties. We present a systematic study of the properties of pure hadronic compact stars. The $β$-equilibrated neutron star matter using this EoS with a thin crust is able to describe highly-massive compact stars, such as PSR B1516+02B with a mass M=1.94$^{+0.17}_{-0.19}$ M$_\odot$ and PSR J0751+1807 with a mass M=2.1$\pm$0.2 M$_\odot$ to a 1$σ$ confidence level.

QCD phase diagram using PNJL model with eight-quark interactions

We present the phase diagram and the fluctuations of different conserved charges like quark number, charge and strangeness at vanishing chemical potential for the 2+1 flavor Polyakov Loop extended Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model with eight-quark interaction terms using three-momentum cutoff regularisation. The main effect of the higher order interaction term is to shift the critical end point to the lower value of the chemical potential and higher value of the temperature. The fluctuations show good qualitative agreement with the lattice data.

Stability against $α$ decay of some recently observed superheavy elements

The probability of $α$ particle emission for some recently observed superheavy nuclei (SHN) are investigated. The $α$-decay half lives of SHN are calculated in a quantum tunneling model with density dependent M3Y (DDM3Y) effective nuclear interaction using theoretical and measured $Q_α$ values. We determine the density distribution of $α$ and daughter nuclei from the relativistic mean field theory (RMF) using FSUGold force, NL3 and TM1 parameter sets. The double folded nuclear potential is numerically calculated in a more microscopic manner using these density distributions. The estimated values of $α$-decay half-lives are in good agreement with the recent data. We compare our results with recently detected $α$-decay chains from new element with atomic number Z=117 reported by JINR, Dubna. Finally, we determine the half-lives of superheavy elements with Z=108-120 and neutron number N=152-190 to explore the long-standing predictions on the existence of an "island of stability" due to possible spherical proton (Z$\sim 114$) and neutron (N$\sim 184$) shell closures.

Susceptibilities with multi-quark interactions in PNJL model

We have investigated the fluctuations and the higher order susceptibilities of quark number, isospin number, electric charge and strangeness at vanishing chemical potential for 2+1 flavor Polyakov loop extended Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model. The calculations are performed for the bound effective potential in the quark sector requiring up to eight quark interaction terms. These have been contrasted to the lattice results which currently have somewhat heavier quarks in the light flavor sector. The results show sufficient qualitative agreement. For comparison we also present the results obtained with the conventional effective potential containing upto six quark interaction terms.

Deconfinement Phase Transition in Compact Stars : Maxwell vs. Gibbs Construction of the Mixed Phase

We study different realisations of the first order deconfinement phase transition inside a compact star by comparing the Gibbs and Maxwell construction for the mixed phase. The hadronic sector is described within the relativistic mean field model including hyperons. The quark sector is described by the MIT Bag model. We find that these two realisations lead to very different star properties, in particular, the composition of the stellar matter. We also find that for the Maxwell construction there is a sharp discontinuity in the baryon density and the electron chemical potential. We argue that a sharp jump in the elctron chemical potential should lead to the redistribution of electrons and formation of strong electric fields around the discontinuity surface.

Investigation of Phase Diagram and Bulk Thermodynamic Properties using PNJL Model with Eight-Quark Interactions

We present the bulk thermodynamic properties and phase diagram of strongly interacting matter in an extension of the 3-flavor NJL and PNJL models of QCD. Using a three momentum cut-off scheme, we have extended the multiquark interaction terms up to eight order so that the stability of the vacuum is ensured in these models. We explore the effects of various combinations of the two eight-quark couplings $g_1$ and $g_2$ and present a comparative study between the NJL and PNJL models as well as Lattice QCD data. The main effect of the eight-quark interaction term is to shift the critical end point in the $T-μ$ phase diagram to a lower value of $μ$ and higher value of $T$, thus bringing them closer to Lattice QCD results.

Mesonic Excitations of QGP: Study with an Effective Model

We study the correlations between quark-antiquark pairs in different quantum number channels in a deconfined plasma by using an effective model of QCD. Using the three flavour PNJL model, the finite temperature spectral functions for different mesonic states are studied at zero and nonzero quark chemical potentials. It is found that in the $η$ channel resonance structures survive above the chiral transition temperature $\tc$, while the kaonic states seem to get washed off just above $\tc$. The sensitivity of the structures to the anomaly term are carefully investigated.

Bose-Einstein condensation in dense nuclear matter and strong magnetic fields

Bose-Einstein condensation of antikaons in cold and dense beta-equilibrated matter under the influence of strong magnetic fields is studied within a relativistic mean field model. For magnetic fields $> 5 \times 10^{18}$G, the phase spaces of charged particles are modified resulting in compositional changes in the system. The threshold density of $K^-$ condensation is shifted to higher density compared with the field free case. In the presence of strong fields, the equation of state becomes stiffer than that of the zero field case.

Pion and Kaon dissociation in hot quark medium

Pion and kaon dissociation in a medium of hot quark matter is studied in the Nambu Jona-Lasinio model. The decay width of pion and kaon are found to be large but finite at temperatures much higher than the so called critical temperature of chiral or deconfinement transition, kaon decay width being larger. Consequently, pions and even kaons (with a lower density compared to pions) should coexist with quarks and gluons at such high temperatures. The implication of the above result in the study of Quark-Gluon plasma is discussed.

Model study of hot and dense baryonic matter

The properties of baryonic matter have been investigated at finite density and temperature using different models. The variation of baryon masses and fractional number densities with baryon density and temperature obtained from different models have been compared. The quark hadron phase transition have been studied using Chiral Colour Dieletric (CCD) model in the quark sector. No phase transition has been seen for the different variants of the Zimanyi-Moszkowski model. However, a phase transition is observed for the linear and non-linear Walecka model.
