Weakly interacting Bose gases with generalized uncertainty principle: Effects of quantum gravity

We investigate quantum gravity corrections due to the generalized uncertainty principle on three-dimensional weakly interacting Bose gases at both zero and finite temperatures using the time-dependent Hatree-Fock-Bogoliubov theory. We derive useful formulas for the depletion, the anomalous density and some thermodynamic quantities such as the chemical potential, the ground-state energy, the free energy, and the superfluid density. It is found that the presence of a minimal length leads to modify the fluctuations of the condensate and its thermodynamic properties in the weak and strong quantum gravitational regimes. Unexpectedly, the interplay of quantum gravity effects and quantum fluctuations stemming from interactions may lift both the condensate and the superfluid fractions. We show that quantum gravity minimizes the interaction force between bosons leading to the formation of ultradilute Bose condensates. Our results which can be readily probed in current experiments may offer a new attractive possibility to understand gravity in the framework of quantum mechanics.

Moving binary Bose-Einstein condensates in a weak random potential

We study the behavior of moving Bose-Bose mixtures in a weak disordered potential in the realm of the Bogoliubov-Huang-Meng theory. Corrections due to the quantum fluctuations, disorder effects and the relative motion of two fluids to the glassy fraction, the condensed depletion, the anomalous density, and the equation of state of each species are obtained analytically for small velocity. We show that the intriguing interplay of the relative motion and the disorder potential could not only change the stability condition, but destroy also the localization process in the two condensates preventing the formation of a Bose glass state. Unexpectedly, we find that the quantum fluctuations reduce with the velocity of the two fluids. The obtained theoretical predictions are checked by our numerical results.

Bose-Bose mixtures in a weak-disorder potential: Fluctuations and superfluidity

We study the properties of a homogeneous dilute Bose-Bose gas in a weak-disorder potential at zero temperature. By using the perturbation theory, we calculate the disorder corrections to the condensate density, the equation of state, the compressibility, and the superfluid density as a function of density, strength of disorder, and miscibility parameter. It is found that the disorder potential may lead to modifying the miscibility-immiscibility condition and a full miscible phase turns out to be impossible in the presence of the disorder. We show that the intriguing interplay of the disorder and intra- and interspecies interactions may strongly influence the localization of each component, the quantum fluctuations, and the compressibility, as well as the superfluidity of the system.

Breathing modes of repulsive polarons in Bose-Bose mixtures

We consider impurity atoms embedded in a two-component Bose-Einstein condensate in a quasi-one dimensional regime. We study the effects of repulsive coupling between the impurities and Bose species on the equilibrium of the system for both miscible and immiscible mixtures by numerically solving the underlying coupled Gross-Pitaevskii equations. Our results reveal that the presence of impurities may lead to a miscible-immiscible phase transition due to the interaction of the impurities and the two condensates. Within the realm of the Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations we calculate the quantum fluctuations due to the different types of interactions. The breathing modes and the time evolution of harmonically trapped impurities in both homogeneous and inhomogeneous binary condensates are deeply discussed in the miscible case using variational and numerical means. We show in particular that the self-trapping, the miscibility and the inhomogeneity of the trapped Bose mixture may strongly modify the low-lying excitations and the dynamical properties of impurities. The presence of phonons in the homogeneous Bose mixture gives rise to the damping of breathing oscillations of impurities width.

Quantum correlations in dipolar droplets: Time-dependent Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov theory

We investigate the effects of quantum correlations on dipolar quantum droplets. To this end,we derive self-consistent time-dependent Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov equations that fairly describe the dynamics of the order parameter, the normal, and anomalous quantum correlations of the droplet. We analyze the density profiles, the critical number of particles, the condensate depletion, and the pair correlation function. Our predictions are compared with very recent experimental and Quantum Monte-Carlo simulations results and excellent agreement is found.

Singular Soliton Molecules of the Nonlinear Schrodinger Equation

We derive an exact solution to the local nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) using the Darboux transformation method. The new solution describes the profile and dynamics of a two-soliton molecule. Using an algebraically-decaying seed solution, we obtain a two-soliton solution with diverging peaks, which we denote as singular soliton molecule. We find that the new solution has a finite binding energy. We calculate the force and potential of interaction between the two solitons, which turn out to be of molecular-type. The robustness of the bond between the two solitons is also verified. Furthermore, we obtain a new solution to the nonlocal NLSE using the same method and seed solution. The new solution in this case corresponds to an elastic collision of a soliton, a breather soliton on flat background, and a breather soliton on a background with linear ramp. Finally, we consider an NLSE which is nonlocal in time rather than space. Although we did not find a Lax pair to this equation, we derive three exact solutions.

Effects of weak disorder on two-dimensional bilayered dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates

We investigate properties of two-dimensional bilayered dipolar Bose condensed gases in a weak random potential with Gaussian correlation at zero temperature. Here the dipoles are oriented perpendicularly to the layers and in parallel/antiparallel configurations. We calculate analytically and numerically the condensate depletion, the one-body density-matrix, and the superfluid fraction in the framework of the Bogoliubov theory. Our analysis not only provides fascinating new results do not exist in the literature but also shows that the intriguing interplay between the disorder, the interlayer coupling and the polarization orientation may lead to localize/delocalize the condensed particles results in the formation of glassy/superfluid phases. For a pure short-range interaction and a vanishing correlation length and a small interlayer distance, we reproduce the seminal results of Huang and Meng. While for a vanishing interlayer distance, our results reduce to the those obtained for single layer systems.

Collective modes of a one-dimensional trapped Bose gas in the presence of the anomalous density

We study the collective modes of a one-dimensional harmonically trapped Bose-Einstein condensate in the presence of the anomalous density using the time-dependent Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov theory. Within the hydrodynamic equations, we derive analytical expressions for the mode frequencies and the density fluctuations of the anomalous density which constitutes the minority component at very low temperature and feels an effective external potential exerted by the majority component, i.e., the condensate. On the other hand, we numerically examine the temperature dependence of the breathing mode oscillations of the condensate at finite temperature in the weak-coupling regime. At zero temperature, we compare our predictions with available experimental data, theoretical treatments, and Monte carlo simulations in all interaction regimes and the remaining hindrances are emphasized. We show that the anomalous correlations have a non-negligible role on the collective modes at both zero and finite temperatures.

Properties of dipolar bosonic quantum gases at finite temperatures

The properties of ultracold quantum gases of bosons with dipole-dipole interaction is investigated at finite temperature in the frame of the representative ensembles theory. Self-consistent coupled equations of motion are derived for the condensate and the non-condensate components. Corrections due to the dipolar interaction to the condensate depletion, the anomalous density and thermodynamic quantities such as the ground state energy, the equation of state, the compressibility and the presure are calculated in the homogeneous case at both zero and finite temperatures. Effects of interaction and temperature on the structure factor are also discussed. Within the realm of the local density approximation, we generalize our results to the case of a trapped dipolar gas.

Thermodynamics of a two-dimensional dipolar Bose gas with correlated disorder in the roton regime

We sudy the impact of a weak random potential with a Gaussian correlation function on the thermodynamics of a two-dimensional (2D) dipolar bosonic gas. Analytical expressions for the quantum depletion, anomalous density, the ground state energy, the equation of state and the sound velocity are derived in the roton regime within the framework of the Bogoliubov theory. Surprisingly, we find that the condensate depletion and the anomalous density are comparable. The structure factor and the superfluid fraction are also obtained analytically and numerically. We show that these quantities acquire dramatically modified profiles when the roton is close to zero yielding the transition to an unusual quantum state.

Dipolar Bose gas in a weak isotropic speckle disorder

We investigate the properties of a homogeneous dipolar Bose gas in a weak three-dimensional (3D) isotropic speckle disorder at finite temperature. By using the Bogoliubov theory (beyond the mean field), we calculate the condensate and the superfluid fractions as a function of density and strengths of disorder and interaction. The influence of disorder on the anomalous density, the chemical potential and the ground state energy is also analyzed. We show that the peculiar interplay of the DDI and weak disorder makes the superfluid fraction and sound velocity anisotropic.

Spontaneous formation of bright solitons in self-localized impurities in Bose-Einstein condensate

We study the formation of bright solitons in the impurity component of Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC)-impurity mixture by using the time-dependent Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov theory. While we assume the boson-boson and impurity-boson interactions to be effectively repulsive, their character can be changed spontaneously from repulsive to attractive in the presence of strong anomalous correlations. In such a regime the impurity component becomes a system of effectively attractive atoms leading automatically to the generation of bright solitons. We find that this soliton decays at higher temperatures due to the dissipation induced by the impurity-host and host-host interactions. We show that after a sudden increase of the impurity-boson strength a train of bright solitons is produced and this can be interpreted in terms of the modulational instability (MI) of the time-dependent impurity wave function.

Superfluidity and Bose-Einstein condensation in a dipolar Bose gas with weak disorder

We investigate the properties of a three-dimensional homogeneous dipolar Bose gas in a weak random potential with a Gaussian correlation function at finite temperature. Using the Bogoliubov theory (beyond the mean field), we calculate the superfluid and the condensate fractions in terms of the interaction strength on the one hand and in terms of the width and the strength of the disorder on the other. The influence of the disordered potential on the second order correlation function, the ground state energy and the chemical potential is also analyzed. We find that for fixed strength and correlation length of the disorder potential, the dipole-dipole interaction leads to modify both the condensate and the superfluid fractions. We show that for a strong disorder strength the condensed fraction becomes larger than the superfluid fraction. We discuss the effect of the trapping potential on a disordered dipolar Bose in the regime of large number of particles.

Two-dimensional dipolar bosons with weak disorder

We consider two-dimensional dipolar bosonic gas with dipoles oriented perpendicularly to the plane in a weak random potential. We investigate analytically and numerically the condensate depletion, the one-body density-matrix, the ground state energy, the sound velocity and the superfluid fraction. Concentrating on the regime where a rotonlike excitation spectrum forms, our results show that the superfluidity disappears below a critical value of disorder strength yielding the transition to a non-trivial quantum regime.

Theory of excitations of dipolar Bose-Einstein condensate at finite temperature

We present a systematic study of dilute three-dimensional dipolar Bose gas employing a finite temperature perturbation theory (beyond the mean field). We analyze in particular the behavior of the anomalous density, we find that this quantity has a finite value in the limit of weak interactions at both zero and finite temperatures. We show that the presence of the dipole-dipole interaction (DDI) enhances fluctuations, the second order correlation function and thermodynamic quantities such as the chemical potential, the ground state energy, the compressibility and the superfluid fraction. We identify the validity criterion of the small parameter of the theory for Bose-condensed dipolar gases.
