Effect of Local Optical Potential Parameters on the Pion-Nucleus Elastic Scattering in Framework of Second-Order Eikonal Model at Intermediate Energy

The microscopic eikonal phase shifts with its first and second corrections for pi nucleus collision are calculated by using the expression previously derived for the local Kisslinger potential. A physical description to different forms of targets density distributions, are implemented. The roles of the Ericson Ericson Lorentz Lorentz EELL parameter and the adjustable scattering amplitude parameters are discussed. The calculated differential cross sections include the second order corrections of eikonal phase shift. The need for modifying the effective interaction to account for higher order corrections, larger scattering angles and for lower incident projectile momentum is discussed. The results of this theory for 12C 16O 28Si 40 44 48Ca and 208Pb nuclei are shown to yield satisfactory agreement with experimental data in the momentum range of 114 to 292 MeVc.

Search for the production of dark matter candidates in association with heavy dimuon resonance using the CMS open data for pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 8 TeV

In this work, we present a search for the possible production of Dark Matter particles at the Large Hadron Collider alongside a new hypothetical gauge boson denoted by Z$^{\prime}$, which is governed by a model called Mono-Z$^{\prime}$. The topology of the studied events is dimuons plus large missing transverse momentum. The analyzed data were the CMS open data samples collected by the CMS detector, in addition to the CMS open Monte Carlo samples, for the proton-proton collisions at 8 TeV center of mass energy during 2012, which correspond to an integrated luminosity of 11.6 fb$^{-1}$. Two benchmarks scenarios were used for interpreting the data, the Dark Higgs scenario as a simplified scenario of the Mono-Z$^{\prime}$ model and the effective field theory formalism of the same model. No evidence for the existence of dark matter candidates was found. Consequently, 95$\%$ confidence level limits were set on the masses of the Z$^{\prime}$ and the cutoff scale of the effective field theory.

Systematic behavior of the fusion barrier parameters for heavy ion pairs [MSc Thesis]

The nucleus-nucleus potential is calculated in the frame work of the double folding model (DFM) to obtain the Coulomb barrier parameters (barrier position and height), starting from M3Y-Reid nucleon-nucleon interaction and realistic nuclear matter distribution. The systematic behavior of the barrier parameters with mass numbers, charges, and radii of interacting nuclei is studied. The relation between the barrier height and radius is also discussed. The systematic behavior of the barrier parameters is presented in the form of simple analytical formulae, which can be used to calculate the barrier position and height directly, and show which factors can affect them. The potentials obtained from DFM are used to derive a universal function of the nuclear proximity potential which is useful for barrier calculations for heavy ion reactions. The obtained universal function reproduces the barrier parameters within less than 2% deviation from the values obtained using DFM for heavy and super heavy ion reactions. Reactions involving α-particle are studied individually, and another form of the universal function is presented.

Microwave induced tunable subharmonic steps in superconductor-ferromagnet-superconductor Josephson junction

We investigate the coupling between ferromagnet and superconducting phase dynamics in superconductor-ferromagnet-superconductor Josephson junction. The current-voltage characteristics of the junction demonstrate a pattern of subharmonic current steps which forms a devil's staircase structure. We show that a width of the steps becomes maximal at ferromagnetic resonance. Moreover, we demonstrate that the structure of the steps and their widths can be tuned by changing the frequency of the external magnetic field, ratio of Josephson to magnetic energy, Gilbert damping and the junction size.

Single universal curve for Alpha decay derived from semi-microscopic calculations

The universal curve is one of the simple ways to get preliminary information about the Alpha-decay half-life times of heavy nuclei. We try to find parameterization for the universal curve of Alpha decay based on semi-microscopic calculations, starting from the realistic M3Y-Reid nucleon-nucleon interaction. Within the deformed density-dependent cluster model, the penetration probability and the assault frequency are calculated using the WKB penetration probability. The deformations of daughter nuclei and the ground-state spin and parity of the involved nuclei are considered. We found that it is accurate enough to express the assault frequency, for all studied decays, either as a function of the mass number of the parent nuclei or as a constant average value. The average preformation probability of the Alpha cluster inside four groups of 166 even(Z)-even(N), 117 odd-even, 141 even-odd, and 72 odd-odd Alpha-emitters are obtained, individually. The effect of participating unpaired nucleons in the involved nuclei, as well as the influence of any differences in their ground-state spin and/or parity, appears in the obtained average values of the preformation probability. Based on the calculated WKB penetration probability, we suggested a single universal curve for Alpha decay, with only one parameter. This parameter varies according to the classified four groups. It includes the preformation probability and the average assault frequency, in addition to the pairing contribution.
