Instantons: thick-wall approximation

We develop a new method for estimating the decay probability of the false vacuum via regularized instantons. Namely, we consider the case where the potential is either unbounded from below or the second minimum corresponding to the true vacuum has a depth exceeding the height of the potential barrier. In this case, the materialized bubbles dominating the vacuum decay naturally have a thick wall and the thin-wall approximation is not applicable. We prove that in such a case the main contribution to the action determining the decay probability comes from the part of the solution for which the potential term in the equation for instantons can be neglected compared to the friction term. We show that the developed approximation exactly reproduces the leading order results for the few known exactly solvable potentials. The proposed method is applied to generic scalar field potentials in an arbitrary number of dimensions.

Femto-cyclones and hyperon polarization in Heavy-Ion Collisions

We study the structure of vorticity and hydrodynamic helicity fields in peripheral heavy-ion collisions using the kinetic Quark-Gluon String Model. The angular momentum conservation within this model holds with a good accuracy. We observe the formation of specific toroidal structures of vorticity field (vortex sheets). Their existence is mirrored in the polarization of hyperons of the percent order.

Hyperinstantons, the Beltrami Equation, and Triholomorphic Maps

We consider the Beltrami equation for hydrodynamics and we show that its solutions can be viewed as instanton solutions of a more general system of equations. The latter are the equations of motion for an ${\cal N}=2$ sigma model on 4-dimensional worldvolume (which is taken locally HyperKähler) with a 4-dimensional HyperKähler target space. By means of the 4D twisting procedure originally introduced by Witten for gauge theories and later generalized to 4D sigma-models by Anselmi and Fré, we show that the equations of motion describe triholomophic maps between the worldvolume and the target space. Therefore, the classification of the solutions to the 3-dimensional Beltrami equation can be performed by counting the triholomorphic maps. The counting is easily obtained by using several discrete symmetries. Finally, the similarity with holomorphic maps for ${\cal N}=2$ sigma on Calabi-Yau space prompts us to reformulate the problem of the enumeration of triholomorphic maps in terms of a topological sigma model.

Phase portraits of the generalized full symmetric Toda systems on rank 2 groups

In this paper we continue investigations that we began in our previous works, where we proved, that the phase diagram of Toda system on special linear groups can be identified with the Bruhat order on symmetric group, when all the eigenvalues of Lax matrix are distinct, or with the Bruhat order on permutations of a multiset, if there are multiple eigenvalues. We show, that the coincidence of the phase portrait of Toda system and the Hasse diagram of Bruhat order holds in the case of arbitrary simple Lie groups of rank $2$: to this end we need only to check this property for the two remaining groups of second rank, $Sp(4,\mathbb R)$ and the real form of $G_2$.

Investigation of hadron multiplicities and hadron yield ratios in heavy ion collisions

Here we thoroughly discuss some weak points of the thermal model which is traditionally used to describe the hadron multiplicities measured in the central nucleus-nucleus collisions. In particularly, the role of conservation laws, the values of hard-core radii along with the effects of the Lorentz contraction of hadron eigen volumes and the hadronic surface tension are systematically studied. It is shown that for the adequate description of hadron multiplicities the conservation laws should be modified, whereas for the description of hadron yield ratios the conservation laws are not necessary at all. Also here we analyzed the usual criteria for the chemical freeze-out and found that none of them is robust. A new chemical freeze-out criterion of constant entropy per hadron equals to 7.18 is suggested and a novel effect of adiabatic chemical hadron production is discussed. Additionally, we found that the data for the center of mass energies above 10 GeV lead to the temperature of the nil hadronic surface tension coefficient of about $T_0 = 147 \pm 7$ MeV. This is a very intriguing result since a very close estimate for such a temperature was obtained recently within entirely different approach. We argue that these two independently obtained results evidence that the (tri)critical temperature of the QCD phase diagram is between 140 and 154 MeV. In addition, here we suggest to consider the pion and kaon hard-core radii as new fitting parameters. Such an approach for the first time allows us to simultaneously describe the hadron multiplicities and the Strangeness Horn and get a very high quality fit of the available experimental data.

The $c$-map, Tits Satake subalgebras and the search for $\mathcal{N}=2$ inflaton potentials

In this paper we address the general problem of including inflationary models exhibiting Starobinsky-like potentials into (symmetric) $\mathcal{N}=2$ supergravities. This is done by gauging suitable abelian isometries of the hypermultiplet sector and then truncating the resulting theory to a single scalar field. By using the characteristic properties of the global symmetry groups of the $\mathcal{N}=2$ supergravities we are able to make a general statement on the possible $α$-attractor models which can obtained upon truncation. We find that in symmetric $\mathcal{N}=2$ models group theoretical constraints restrict the allowed values of the parameter $α$ to be $α=1,\,\frac{2}{3},\, \frac{1}{3}$. This confirms and generalizes results recently obtained in the literature. Our analysis heavily relies on the mathematical structure of symmetric $\mathcal{N}=2$ supergravities, in particular on the so called $c$-map connection between Quaternionic Kähler manifolds starting from Special Kähler ones. A general statement on the possible consistent truncations of the gauged models, leading to Starobinsky-like potentials, requires the essential help of Tits Satake universality classes. The paper is mathematically self-contained and aims at presenting the involved mathematical structures to a public not only of physicists but also of mathematicians. To this end the main mathematical structures and the general gauging procedure of $\mathcal{N}=2$ supergravities is reviewed in some detail.

Axial Symmetric Kahler manifolds, the D-map of Inflaton Potentials and the Picard-Fuchs Equation

In this paper we provide a definition of the D-map, namely of the mathematical construction implicitly utilized by supergravity that associates an axial symmetric Kahler surface to every positive definite potential function V(phi). The properties of the D-map are discussed in general. Then the D-map is applied to the list of integrable cosmological potentials classified by us in a previous publication with A. Sagnotti. Several interesting geometrical and analytical properties of the manifolds in the image of this D-map are discovered and illustrated. As a by-product of our analysis we demonstrate the existence of (integrable) Starobinsky-like potentials that can be embedded into supergravity. Some of them follow from constant curvature Kahler manifolds. In the quest for a microscopic interpretation of inflaton dynamics we present the Ariadne's thread provided by a new mathematical concept that we introduce under the name of axial symmetric descendants of one dimensional special Kahler manifolds. By means of this token we define a clearcut algorithm that to each potential function V(phi) associates a unique 4th order Picard-Fuchs equation of restricted type. Such an equation encodes information on the chiral ring of a superconformal field theory to be sought for, unveiling in this way a microscopic interpretation of the inflaton potential. We conjecture that the physical mechanism at the basis of the transition from a special manifold to its axial symmetric descendant is probably the construction of an Open String descendant of a Closed String model.

Bruhat Order in Full Symmetric Toda System

In this paper we discuss some geometrical and topological properties of the full symmetric Toda system. We show by a direct inspection that the phase transition diagram for the full symmetric Toda system in dimensions $n=3,4$ coincides with the Hasse diagram of the Bruhat order of symmetric groups $S_3$ and $S_4$. The method we use is based on the existence of a vast collection of invariant subvarieties of the Toda flow in orthogonal groups. We show how one can extend it to the case of general $n$. The resulting theorem identifies the set of singular points of $\mathrm{dim}=n$ Toda flow with the elements of the permutation group $S_n$, so that points will be connected by a trajectory, if and only if the corresponding elements are Bruhat comparable. We also show that the dimension of the submanifolds, spanned by the trajectories connecting two singular points, is equal to the length of the corresponding segment in the Hasse diagramm. This is equivalent to the fact, that the full symmetric Toda system is in fact a Morse-Smale system.

Explicit Semi-invariants and Integrals of the Full Symmetric sl(n) Toda Lattice

We show how to construct semi-invariants and integrals of the full symmetric sl(n) Toda lattice for all n. Using the Toda equations for the Lax eigenvector matrix we prove the existence of semi-invariants which are homogeneous coordinates in the corresponding projective spaces. Then we use these semi-invariants to construct the integrals. The existence of additional integrals which constitute a full set of independent non-involutive integrals was known but the chopping and Kostant procedures have crucial computational complexities already for low-rank Lax matrices and are practically not applicable for higher ranks. Our new approach solves this problem and results in simple explicit formulae for the full set of independent semi-invariants and integrals expressed in terms of the Lax matrix and its eigenvectors, and of eigenvalue matrices for the full symmetric sl(n) Toda lattice.

Inflation and Integrable one-field Cosmologies embedded in Rheonomic Supergravity

In this paper we show that the new approach to the embedding of the inflationary potentials into supergravity, presented in a quite recent paper [11] of Ferrara, Kallosh, Linde and Porrati can be formulated within the framework of standard matter coupled supergravity, without the use of the new minimal auxiliary set and of conformal compensators. The only condition is the existence of a translational Peccei Quinn isometry of the scalar Kahler manifold. We suggest that this embedding strategy based on a nilpotent gauging amounts to a profound Copernican Revolution. The properties of the inflaton potential are encoded in the geometry of some homogeneous one-dimensional Kahler manifolds that now should be regarded as the primary object, possibly providing a link with microscopic physics. We present a simple and elegant formula for the curvature of the Kahler manifold in terms of the potential. Most relevant consequence of the new strategy is that all the integrable potentials quite recently classified in a paper [7] that we have coauthored, are automatically embedded into supergravity and their associated Kahler manifolds demand urgent study. In particular one integrable potential that provides the best fit to PLANCK data seems to have inspiring geometrical properties deserving further study.

Integrable Scalar Cosmologies I. Foundations and links with String Theory

We build a number of integrable one--scalar spatially flat cosmologies, which play a natural role in inflationary scenarios, examine their behavior in several cases and draw from them some general lessons on this type of systems, whose potentials involve combinations of exponential functions, and on similar non--integrable ones. These include the need for the scalar to emerge from the initial singularity while climbing up sufficiently steep exponential potentials ("climbing phenomenon") and the inevitable collapse in a big Crunch whenever the scalar tries to settle at negative extrema of the potential. We also elaborate on the links between these types of potentials and "brane supersymmetry breaking", a mechanism that ties together string scale and scale of supersymmetry breaking in a class of orientifold models. We show that, under some assumptions that are spelled out in the text, the extended objects of these vacua can inject inflationary phases with discrete values of the spectral index that are determined by the number of unwrapped dimensions of the branes and by the inverse power with which the string coupling $g_s$ enters their world--volume actions. An NS fivebrane, which is interestingly unstable in this class of models, when wrapped on a small internal cycle would yield a spectral index that is amusingly close to the experimentally favored PLANCK value ns ~ 0.96.

Integrable Scalar Cosmologies II. Can they fit into Gauged Extended Supergavity or be encoded in N=1 superpotentials?

The question whether the integrable one-field cosmologies classified in a previous paper by Fre, Sagnotti and Sorin can be embedded as consistent one-field truncations into Extended Gauged Supergravity or in N=1 supergravity gauged by a superpotential without the use of D-terms is addressed in this paper. The answer is that such an embedding is very difficult and rare but not impossible. Indeed we were able to find two examples of integrable models embedded in Supergravity in this way. Both examples are fitted into N=1 Supergravity by means of a very specific and interesting choice of the superpotential W(z). The question whether there are examples of such an embedding in extended Gauged Supergravity remains open. In the present paper, relying on the embedding tensor formalism we classified all gaugings of the N=2 STU model, confirming, in the absence on hypermultiplets, the uniqueness of the stable de Sitter vacuum found several years ago by Fre, Trigiante and Van Proeyen and excluding the embedding of any integrable cosmological model. A detailed analysis of the space of exact solutions of the first Supergravity embedded integrable cosmological model revealed several new features worth an in depth consideration. When the scalar potential has an extremum at a negative value, the universe necessarily collapses into a Big Crunch notwithstanding its spatial flatness. The causal structure of these universes is quite different from that of the closed, positive curved, universe: indeed in this case the particle and event horizons do not coincide and develop complicated patterns. The cosmological consequences of this unexpected mechanism deserve careful consideration.

Semi-invariants and Integrals of the Full Symmetric sl(n) Toda Lattice

We consider the full symmetric version of the Lax operator of the Toda lattice which is known as the full symmetric Toda lattice. The phase space of this system is the generic orbit of the coadjoint action of the Borel subgroup B^+(n) of SL(n,R). This system is integrable. We propose a new method of constructing semi-invariants and integrals of the full symmetric Toda lattice. Using only the Toda equations for the Lax eigenvector matrix we prove the existence of the semi-invariants which are Plucker coordinates in the corresponding projective spaces. Then we use these semi-invariants to construct the integrals. It is known that the full symmetric sl(n) Toda lattice has additional integrals which can be produced by Kostant procedure except for the integrals which can be derived by the chopping procedure. Altogether these integrals constitute a full set of the independent non-involutive integrals. Yet the unsolved complicated technical problem is their explicit derivation since Kostant procedure has crucial computational complexities even for low-rank Lax matrices and is practically unapplicable for higher ranks. Our new approach provides a resolution of this problem and results in simple explicit formulae for the full set of independent semi-invariants and integrals expressed both in terms of the Lax matrix and its eigenvector and eigenvalue matrices of the full symmetric sl(n) Toda lattice without using the chopping and Kostant procedures. We also describe the structure of the additional integrals of motion as functions on the flag space modulo the Toda flows and show how Plucker coordinates of different projective spaces define different families of the additional integrals. In this paper we present detailed proofs of the propositions of [24].

Systematic properties of the Tsallis Distribution: Energy Dependence of Parameters in High-Energy p-p Collisions

Changes in the transverse momentum distributions with beam energy are studied using the Tsallis distribution as a parameterization. The dependence of the Tsallis parameters q, T and the volume are determined as a function of beam energy. The Tsallis parameter q shows a weak but clear increase with beam energy with the highest value being approximately 1.15. The Tsallis temperature and volume are consistent with being independent of beam energy within experimental uncertainties.

Adiabatic Chemical Freeze-out and Wide Resonance Modification in a Thermal Medium

Here we develop a model equation of state which successfully parameterizes the thermodynamic functions of hadron resonance gas model at chemical freeze-out and which allows us to naturally explain the adiabatic chemical freeze-out criterion. The present model enables us to clearly demonstrate that at chemical freeze-out the resulting hadronic mass spectrum used in the hadron resonance gas model is not an exponential-like, but a power-like. We argue that such a property of hadronic mass spectrum at chemical freeze-out can be explained by the two new effects found here for wide resonances existing in a thermal environment: the near threshold thermal resonance enhancement and the near threshold resonance sharpening. The effect of resonance sharpening is studied for a sigma meson and our analysis shows that for the temperatures well below 92 MeV the effective width of sigma meson is about 50 to 70 MeV. Thus, the effect of resonance sharpening justifies the usage of the sigma-like field-theoretical models for the strongly interacting matter equation of state at such temperatures. Also we argue that the most optimistic hope to find the quark gluon bags experimentally may be related to their sharpening and enhancement in a thermal medium. In this case the wide quark gluon bags may appear directly or in decays as narrow resonances that are absent in the tables of elementary particles and that have the width about 50-150 MeV and the mass about or above 2.5 GeV.

Critical exponents of the quark-gluon bags model with the critical endpoint

The critical indices α', β, γ' and δof the Quark Gluon Bags with Surface Tension Model that has the critical endpoint are calculated and compared with the exponents of other models. These indices are expressed in terms of the most general parameters of the model. Despite the usual expectations the found critical indices do not depend on the Fisher exponent τand on the parameter \varkappa which relates the mean bag surface to its volume. The scaling relations for the obtained critical exponents are verified and it is demonstrated that for the standard definition of the index α' the Fisher and the Griffiths scaling inequalities are not fulfilled in general case, whereas the Liberman scaling inequality is always obeyed. This is not surprising for the phase diagram with the asymmetric properties of pure phases, but the present model also provides us with the first and explicit example that the specially defined index α'_s does not recover the scaling relations as well. Therefore, here we suggest the physically motivated definition of the index α' = α'_c and demonstrate that such a definition recovers the Fisher scaling inequality, while it is shown that the Griffiths inequality should be generalized for the phase diagram with the asymmetric properties. The critical exponents of several systems that belong to different universality classes are successfully described by the parameters of the present model and hence its equation of state can be used for a variety of practical applications.

Observation of the E(38)-boson

The first results of the search for the E(38)-boson are presented. The search was conducted in the effective mass spectra of photon pairs produced in the d(2.0 GeV/n) + C, d(3.0 GeV/n) + Cu and p(4.6 GeV) + C reactions. The experimental data was obtained at internal beams of the JINR Nuclotron. Due to non ordinariness of the obtained results (standing out of The Standard Model) and at the request of co-authors the first version of the article is withdrawn for further verification and more detailed description of the experiment and data analysis. The second version is being prepared.

Resonance structure in the γγ and $π^0π^0$ systems in dC interactions

Along with $π^0$ and η mesons, a resonance structure in the invariant mass spectrum of two photons at Mγγ = 360 \pm 7 \pm 9 MeV is observed in the reaction d + C \rightarrow γ + γ + X at momentum 2.75 GeV/c per nucleon. Estimates of its width and production cross section are Γ = 64 \pm 18 MeV and $σ_{γγ}$ = 98 \pm 24 μb, respectively. The collected statistics amount to 2339 \pm 340 events of 1.5 \cdot 10^6 triggered interactions of a total number ~ 10^12 of dC-interactions. The results on observation of the resonance in the invariant mass spectra of two $π^0$ mesons are presented: the data obtained in the d + C \rightarrow γ + γ reaction is confirmed by the d + C \rightarrow $π^0$ + $π^0$ reaction: $M_{π^0π^0}$ = 359.2 \pm 1.9 MeV, Γ = 48.9 \pm 4.9 MeV; the ratio of Br(R\rightarrowγγ) / Br(R\rightarrow$π^0π^0$) = (1.8 ÷ 3.7)\cdot10^-3.

Simple Solution to the Strangeness Horn Description Puzzle

We propose to use the thermal model with the multi-component hard-core radii to describe the hadron yield ratios from the low AGS to the highest RHIC energies. It is demonstrated that the variation of the hard-core radii of pions and kaons enable us to drastically improve the fit quality of the measured mid-rapidity data and for the first time to completely describe the Strangeness Horn behavior as the function of the energy of collision without spoiling the fit quality of other ratios. The best global fit is found for the vanishing hard-core radius of pions and for the hard-core radius of kaons being equal to 0.35 fm, whereas the hard-core radius of all other mesons is fixed to 0.3 fm and that one of baryons is fixed to 0.5 fm. It is argued that the multi-component hadron resonance gas model opens us a principal possibility to determine the second virial coefficients of hadron-hadron interaction.

Can We Rigorously Define Phases in a Finite System?

Here we propose the generalized statistical multifragmentation model which includes the liquid phase pressure of the most general form. This allows us to get rid of the absolute incompressibility of the nuclear liquid. Also the present model employes a very general form the surface tension coefficient of nuclear fragments. Such a model is solved analytically for finite volumes by the Laplace-Fourier transform method to isobaric ensemble. A complete analysis of the isobaric partition singularities of this model is also done for finite volumes. It is shown that the real part of any simple pole of the isobaric partition defines the free energy of the corresponding state, whereas its imaginary part, depending on the sign, defines the inverse decay/formation time of this state. The developed formalism allows us to exactly define the finite volume analogs of gaseous, liquid and mixed phases of the class of similar models from the first principles of statistical mechanics and demonstrate the pitfalls of earlier works. The finite width effects for large nuclear fragments and quark gluon bags are also discussed.

Directed, Elliptic and Triangular Flows in Asymmetric Heavy Ion Collisions

In this paper we propose to thoroughly investigate asymmetric nuclear collisions both in the fixed target mode at the laboratory energy below 5 GeV per nucleon and in the collider mode with a center of mass energy below 11 GeV per nucleon. Using the UrQMD transport model, we demonstrate a strong enhancement of directed and elliptic flow coefficients for the midcentral asymmetric nuclear collisions compared to symmetric collisions. We argue that such an enhancement is due to the disappearance of the nuclear shadowing effect on the side of the smaller projectile nucleus. An analysis of the energy and centrality dependencies of the directed, elliptic and triangular flows at midrapidity shows us their sensitivity to the details of the employed model of hadronic interaction. In general, the flow patters found for asymmetric nuclear collisions have a very rich and complicated structure of energy and centrality dependencies compared to the flows found for symmetric collisions and are worth to be investigated experimentally. The directed, elliptic, and triangular flow coefficients are computed for target nuclei containing high density fluctuations and thoroughly compared with that ones obtained in the absence of such fluctuations.

Dynamical and thermal descriptions in parton distribution functions

We suggest a duality between the standard (dynamical) and statistical distributions of partons in the nucleons. The temperature parameter entering into the statistical form for the quark distributions is estimated. Measurements of Cross Sections and Charged Pion Spectra in Proton-Carbon Interactions at 31 GeV/c

Interaction cross sections and charged pion spectra in p+C interactions at 31 GeV/c were measured with the large acceptance NA61/SHINE spectrometer at the CERN SPS. These data are required to improve predictions of the neutrino flux for the T2K long baseline neutrino oscillation experiment in Japan. A set of data collected during the first NA61/SHINE run in 2007 with an isotropic graphite target with a thickness of 4% of a nuclear interaction length was used for the analysis. The measured p+C inelastic and production cross sections are 257.2 +- 1.9 +- 8.9 mb and 229.3 +- 1.9 +- 9.0 mb, respectively. Inclusive production cross sections for negatively and positively charged pions are presented as a function of laboratory momentum in 10 intervals of the laboratory polar angle covering the range from 0 up to 420 mrad. The spectra are compared with predictions of several hadron production models.

Physical mechanism of the (tri)critical point generation

We discuss some ideas resulting from a phenomenological relation recently declared between the tension of string connecting the static quark-antiquark pair and surface tension of corresponding cylindrical bag. This relation analysis leads to the temperature of vanishing surface tension coefficient of the QGP bags at zero baryonic charge density as T_σ= 152.9 +- 4.5 MeV. We develop the view point that this temperature value is not a fortuitous coincidence with the temperature of (partial) chiral symmetry restoration as seen in the lattice QCD simulations. Besides, we argue that T_σdefines the QCD (tri)critical endpoint temperature and claim that a negative value of surface tension coefficient recently discovered is not a sole result, but should also exist in ordinary liquids at the supercritical temperatures.

Asymptotic Regge Trajectories of Non-strange Mesons

We analyze the asymptotic behavior of Regge trajectories of non-strange mesons. In contrast to an existing belief, it is demonstrated that for the asymptotically linear Regge trajectories the width of heavy hadrons cannot linearly depend on their mass. Using the data on masses and widths of rho_J, omega_J, a_J and f_J mesons for the spin values J \leq 6, we extract the parameters of the asymptotically linear Regge trajectory predicted by the finite width model of quark gluon bags. As it is shown the obtained parameters for the data set B correspond to the cross-over temperature lying in the interval 170.9-175.3 MeV which is consistent with the kinetic freeze-out temperature of early hadronizing particles found in relativistic heavy ion collisions at and above the highest SPS energy.

Black holes in supergravity and integrability

Stationary black holes of massless supergravity theories are described by certain geodesic curves on the target space that is obtained after dimensional reduction over time. When the target space is a symmetric coset space we make use of the group-theoretical structure to prove that the second order geodesic equations are integrable in the sense of Liouville, by explicitly constructing the correct amount of Hamiltonians in involution. This implies that the Hamilton-Jacobi formalism can be applied, which proves that all such black hole solutions, including non-extremal solutions, possess a description in terms of a (fake) superpotential. Furthermore, we improve the existing integration method by the construction of a Lax integration algorithm that integrates the second order equations in one step instead of the usual two step procedure. We illustrate this technology with a specific example.

Towards a Maximal Mass Model

We investigate the possibility to construct a generalization of the Standard Model, which we call the Maximal Mass Model because it contains a limiting mass $M$ for its fundamental constituents. The parameter $M$ is considered as a new universal physical constant of Nature and therefore is called the fundamental mass. It is introduced in a purely geometrical way, like the velocity of light as a maximal velocity in the special relativity. If one chooses the Euclidean formulation of quantum field theory, the adequate realization of the limiting mass hypothesis is reduced to the choice of the de Sitter geometry as the geometry of the 4-momentum space. All fields, defined in de Sitter p-space in configurational space obey five dimensional Klein-Gordon type equation with fundamental mass $M$ as a mass parameter. The role of dynamical field variables is played by the Cauchy initial conditions given at $x_5 = 0$, guarantying the locality and gauge invariance principles. The corresponding to the geometrical requirements formulation of the theory of scalar, vector and spinor fields is considered in some detail. On a simple example it is demonstrated that the spontaneously symmetry breaking mechanism leads to renormalization of the fundamental mass $M$. A new geometrical concept of the chirality of the fermion fields is introduced. It would be responsible for new measurable effects at high energies $E \geq M$. Interaction terms of a new type, due to the existence of the Higgs boson are revealed. The most intriguing prediction of the new approach is the possible existence of exotic fermions with no analogues in the SM, which may be candidate for dark matter constituents.

Fermionic one- and two-dimensional Toda lattice hierarchies and their bi-Hamiltonian structures

By exhibiting the corresponding Lax pair representations we propose a wide class of integrable two-dimensional (2D) fermionic Toda lattice (TL) hierarchies which includes the 2D N=(2|2) and N=(0|2) supersymmetric TL hierarchies as particular cases. Performing their reduction to the one-dimensional case by imposing suitable constraints we derive the corresponding 1D fermionic TL hierarchies. We develop the generalized graded R-matrix formalism using the generalized graded bracket on the space of graded operators with an involution generalizing the graded commutator in superalgebras, which allows one to describe these hierarchies in the framework of the Hamiltonian formalism and construct their first two Hamiltonian structures. The first Hamiltonian structure is obtained for both bosonic and fermionic Lax operators while the second Hamiltonian structure is established for bosonic Lax operators only. We propose the graded modified Yang-Baxter equation in the operator form and demonstrate that for the class of graded antisymmetric R-matrices it is equivalent to the tensor form of the graded classical Yang-Baxter equation.

Integrable Structures in String Field Theory

We give a simple proof that the Neumann coefficients of surface states in Witten's SFT satisfy the Hirota equations for dispersionless KP hierarchy. In a similar way we show that the Neumann coefficients for the three string vertex in the same theory obey the Hirota equations of the dispersionless Toda Lattice hierarchy. We conjecture that the full (dispersive) Toda Lattice hierachy and, even more attractively a two--matrix model, may underlie open SFT.
