Advances towards the systematization of calculations with Implicit Regularization

There is currently a high demand for theoretical predictions for processes at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) and beyond, mainly due to the large amount of data which has already been collected at LHC. This requires practical methods that meet the physical requirements of the models under study. We develop a new procedure for applying Constrained Implicit Regularization which simplifies the calculation of amplitudes, including finite parts. The algebraic identities to separate the divergent parts free from the external momenta are used after the Feynman parametrization. These algebraic identities establish a set of scale relations which are always the same and do not need to be calculated in each situation. This procedure unifies the calculations in massive and non-massive models in an unique procedure. We establish a systematization of the calculation of one-loop amplitudes and extend the procedure for higher-loop orders.

Lorentz and CPT Violation in Partons

A framework is presented for the factorization of high-energy hadronic processes in the presence of Lorentz and CPT violation. The comprehensive effective field theory describing Lorentz and CPT violation, the Standard-Model Extension, is used to demonstrate factorization of the hadronic tensor at leading order in electroweak interactions for deep inelastic scattering and for the Drell-Yan process. Effects controlled by both minimal and nonminimal coefficients for Lorentz violation are explored, and the equivalent parton-model description is derived. The methodology is illustrated by determining cross sections and studying estimated attainable sensitivities to Lorentz violation using real data collected at the Hadronen-Elektronen Ring Anlage and the Large Hadron Collider and simulated data for the future US-based electron-ion collider.

Pair approximation for the noisy threshold $q$-voter model

In the standard $q$-voter model, a given agent can change its opinion only if there is a full consensus of the opposite opinion within a group of influence of size $q$. A more realistic extension is the threshold $q$-voter, where a minimal agreement (at least $0<q_0\le q$ opposite opinions) is sufficient to flip the central agent's opinion, including also the possibility of independent (non conformist) choices. Variants of this model including non-conformist behavior have been previously studied in fully connected networks (mean-field limit). Here we investigate its dynamics in random networks. Particularly, while in the mean-field case it is irrelevant whether repetitions in the influence group are allowed, we show that this is not the case in networks, and we study the impact of both cases, with or without repetition. Furthermore, the results of computer simulations are compared with the predictions of the pair approximation derived for uncorrelated networks of arbitrary degree distributions.

Lorentz-Violating Running of Coupling Constants

We compute the full vacuum polarization tensor in the minimal QED extension. We find that its low-energy limit is dominated by the radiatively induced Chern-Simons-like term and the high-energy limit is dominated by the c-type coefficients. We investigate the implications of the high-energy limit for the QED and QCD running couplings. In particular, the QCD running offers the possibility to study Lorentz-violating effects on the parton distribution functions and observables such as the hadronic R ratio.

$γ_{5}$ algebra ambiguities in Feynman amplitudes: momentum routing invariance and anomalies in $D=4$ and $D=2$

We address the subject of chiral anomalies in two and four dimensional theories. Ambiguities associated with the $γ_5$ algebra within divergent integrals are identified, even though the physical dimension is not altered in the process of regularization. We present a minimal prescription that leads to unique results and apply it to a series of examples. For the particular case of abelian theories with effective chiral vertices, we show: 1- Its implication on the way to display the anomalies democratically in the Ward identities. 2- The possibility to fix an arbitrary surface term in such a way that a momentum routing independent result emerges. This leads to a reinterpretation of the role of momentum routing in the process of choosing the Ward identity to be satisfied in an anomalous process. 3- Momentum Routing Invariance (MRI) is a necessary and sufficient condition to assure vectorial gauge invariance of effective chiral Abelian gauge theories. We also briefly discuss the case of complete chiral theories, using the Chiral Schwinger Model as an example.

Momentum Routing Invariance in Extended QED: Assuring Gauge Invariance Beyond Tree Level

We address the study of gauge invariance in the Standard Model Extension which encompasses all Lorentz-violating terms originated by spontaneous symmetry breaking at the Planck scale. In particular, we fully evaluate Ward identities involving two and three point functions and derive the conditions which assure gauge invariance of the electromagnetic sector of the Standard Model Extension at one-loop. We show that momentum routing invariance is sufficient to fix arbitrary and regularization dependent parameters intrinsic to perturbation theory in the diagrams involved. A scheme which judiciously collects finite but undetermined quantum corrections is employed, a particularly subtle issue in the presence of $γ_5$ matrices.

One-loop conformal anomaly in an implicit momentum space regularization framework

In this paper we consider matter fields in a gravitational background in order to compute the breaking of the conformal current at one-loop order. Standard perturbative calculations of conformal symmetry breaking expressed by the non-zero trace of the energy-momentum tensor have shown that some violating terms are regularization dependent, which may suggest the existence of spurious breaking terms in the anomaly. Therefore, we perform the calculation in a momentum space regularization framework in which regularization dependent terms are judiciously parametrized. We compare our results with those obtained in the literature and conclude that there is an unavoidable arbitrariness in the anomalous term $\Box R$.

Arbitrariness in the gravitational Chern-Simons-like term induced radiatively

Lorentz violation through a radiatively induced Chern-Simons-like term in a fermionic theory embedded in linearized quantum gravity with a Lorentz- and CPT-violating axial-vector term in the fermionic sector proportional to a constant field $b_μ$ has been recently studied. In a similar fashion as for the extended-QED model of Carroll-Field-Jackiw, we explicitly show that neither gauge invariance nor the more stringent momentum routing invariance condition on underlying Feynman diagrams fix the arbitrariness inherent to such induced term at one loop order. We present the calculation in a nonperturbative expansion in $b_μ$ and within a framework which besides operating in the physical dimension (and thus avoiding $γ_5$ matrix Clifford algebra ambiguities), judiciously parametrizes regularization dependent arbitrary parameters usually fixed by symmetries.

Guises and Disguises of Quadratic Divergences

In this contribution, we present a new perspective on the control of quadratic divergences in quantum field theory, in general, and in the Higgs naturalness problem, in particular. Our discussion is essentially based on an approach where UV divergences are parameterized, after being reduced to basic divergent integrals (BDI) in one internal momentum, as functions of a cutoff and a renormalization group scale $λ$. We illustrate our proposal with well-known examples, such as the gluon vacuum self energy of QCD and the Higgs decay in two photons within this approach. We also discuss frameworks in effective low-energy QCD models, where quadratic divergences are indeed fundamental.

Geometry in the entanglement dynamics of the double Jaynes-Cummings model

We report on the geometric character of the entanglement dynamics of to pairs of qubits evolving according to the double Jaynes-Cummings model. We show that the entanglement dynamics for the initial states |ψ_0> = Cosα |1 0> + Sinα |0 1> and |ϕ_0> = Cosα |1 1> + Sinα |0 0> cover 3-dimensional surfaces in the diagram C_ij\timesC_ik\timesC_il, where C_mn stands for the concurrence between the qubits m and n, varying 0\leqα\leqπ/2. In the first case projections of the surfaces on a diagram C_ij\timesC_kl are conics. In the second case the curves can be more complex. We relate those conics with a measurable quantity, the {\it predictability}.We also derive inequalities limiting the sum of the squares of the concurrence of every bipartition and show that sudden death of entanglement is intimately connected to the size of the radius of a hyper-sphere.
