Intensities of KCs E(4)1Σ+→(a3Σ+,X1Σ+)E(4)^1Σ^+\to (a^3Σ^+,X^1Σ^+) band system up to dissociation threshold: an interplay between spin-orbit, hyperfine and rovibronic coupling effects

The relative intensity distribution in the rotationally resolved laser-induced fluorescence spectra belonging to the E(4)1Σ+→(a3Σ1+,X1Σ+)E(4)^1Σ^+\to (a^3Σ^+_1,X^1Σ^+) band systems of the KCs molecule was analyzed. The experimental intensities in doublet PP,RR progressions assigned to spin-allowed E→XE\to X and spin-forbidden E→aE\to a transitions up to their common ground dissociation limit were described in the framework of a coupled-channels (CC) deperturbation model applied for the interacting \Xstate\ and \astate\ states. The CC intensity simulation was based solely on fixed electronic structure parameters as functions of the internuclear distance RR, namely: accurate empirical potential energy curves for all three states, \emph{ab initio} estimates for matrix elements A(R)A(R) of the hyperfine structure (HFS) , and transition dipole moments dEX(R)d_{EX}(R) and dEa(R)d_{Ea}(R). A comparison between the measured intensities and their theoretical counterparts demonstrates a strong competition between different intramolecular interactions. A weak spin-orbit coupling of the upper \Estate\ state with the remote 3Π^3Π states is responsible for appearance of the E→aE\to a vibrational bands for the intermediate vav_a-values. In turn, the HFS coupling between \Xstate\ and \astate\ states leads to peculiarities in E→(X,a)E\to (X,a) intensities, which are pronounced for high vX/av_{X/a}-values in the vicinity of K(42S^2S)+Cs(62S^2S) dissociation threshold. Both adiabatic ro-vibrational and non-adiabatic electronic-rotational interactions explain the abrupt deviation of some observed P/RP/R intensity ratios from the expected Hönl-London factors.

Study of coupled states for the (4s^{2})^{1}S + (4s4p)^{3}P asymptote of Ca_{2}

The coupled states A^{1}Σ_{u}^{+} (^{1}D +}1}S), c^{3}Π_{u} (^{3}P + ^{1}S) and a^{3}Σ_{u}^{+} (^{3}P +}1}S) of the calcium dimer are investigated in a laser induced fluorescence experiment combined with high-resolution Fourier-transform spectroscopy. A global deperturbation analysis of the observed levels, considering a model, which is complete within the subspace of relevant neighboring states, is performed using the Fourier Grid Hamiltonian method. We determine the potential energy curve of the A^{1}Σ_{u}^{+} and c^{3}Π_{u} states and the strengths of the couplings between them. The c^{3}Π_{u} and \as states are of particular importance for the description of collisional processes between calcium atoms in the ground state ^{1}S_{0} and excited state ^{3}P_{1} applied in studies for establishing an optical frequency standard with Ca.
