Bernstein polynomial of 2-Puiseux pairs irreducible plane curve singularities

In 1982, Tamaki Yano proposed a conjecture predicting the set of b-exponents of an irreducible plane curve singularity germ which is generic in its equisingularity class. In \cite{ACLM-Yano2} we proved the conjecture for the case in which the germ has two Puiseux pairs and its algebraic monodromy has distinct eigenvalues. In this article we aim to study the Bernstein polynomial for any function with the hypotheses above. In particular the set of all common roots of those Bernstein polynomials is given. We provide also bounds for some analytic invariants of singularities and illustrate the computations in suitable examples.

On equivariant versions of higher order orbifold Euler characteristics

There are (at least) two different approaches to define equivariant analogue of the Euler charateristic for a space with a finite group action. The first one defines it as an element of the Burnside ring of the group. The second approach emerged from physics and includes the orbifold Euler characteristic and its higher order versions. Here we suggest a way to merge the two approaches together defining (in a certain setting) higher order Euler characteristics with values in the Burnside ring of a group. We give Macdonald type equations for these invariants. We also offer generalized ("motivic") versions of these invariants and formulate Macdonald type equations for them as well.

Higher order orbifold Euler characteristics for compact Lie group actions

We generalize the notions of the orbifold Euler characteristic and of the higher order orbifold Euler characteristics to spaces with actions of a compact Lie group. This is made using the integration with respect to the Euler characteristic instead of the summation over finite sets. We show that the equation for the generating series of the k-th order orbifold Euler characteristics of the Cartesian products of the space with the wreath products actions proved by H. Tamanoi for finite group actions and by C. Farsi and Ch. Seaton for compact Lie group actions with finite isotropy subgroups holds in this case as well.

Higher order generalized Euler characteristics and generating series

For a complex quasi-projective manifold with a finite group action, we define higher order generalized Euler characteristics with values in the Grothendieck ring of complex quasi-projective varieties extended by the rational powers of the class of the affine line. We compute the generating series of generalized Euler characteristics of a fixed order of the Cartesian products of the manifold with the wreath product actions on them.

Quasi-ordinary singularities and Newton trees

In this paper we study some properties of the class of nu-quasi-ordinary hypersurface singularities. They are defined by a very mild condition on its (projected) Newton polygon. We associate with them a Newton tree and characterize quasi-ordinary hypersurface singularities among nu-quasi-ordinary hypersurface singularities in terms of their Newton tree. A formula to compute the discriminant of a quasi-ordinary Weierstrass polynomial in terms of the decorations of its Newton tree is given. This allows to compute the discriminant avoiding the use of determinants and even for non Weierstrass prepared polynomials. This is important for applications like algorithmic resolutions. We compare the Newton tree of a quasi-ordinary singularity and those of its curve transversal sections. We show that the Newton trees of the transversal sections do not give the tree of the quasi-ordinary singularity in general. It does if we know that the Newton tree of the quasi-ordinary singularity has only one arrow.

On `maximal' poles of zeta functions, roots of b-functions and monodromy Jordan blocks

The main objects of study in this paper are the poles of several local zeta functions: the Igusa, topological and motivic zeta function associated to a polynomial or (germ of) holomorphic function in n variables. We are interested in poles of maximal possible order n. In all known cases (curves, non-degenerate polynomials) there is at most one pole of maximal order n which is then given by the log canonical threshold of the function at the corresponding singular point. For an isolated singular point we prove that if the log canonical threshold yields a pole of order n of the corresponding (local) zeta function, then it induces a root of the Bernstein-Sato polynomial of the given function of multiplicity n (proving one of the cases of the strongest form of a conjecture of Igusa-Denef-Loeser). For an arbitrary singular point we show under the same assumption that the monodromy eigenvalue induced by the pole has a Jordan block of size n on the (perverse) complex of nearby cycles.
