The sojourn time problem for a $p$-adic random walk and its applications to the spectral diffusion of proteins

We consider the problem of the distribution of the sojourn time in a compact set $\mathbb{Z}_{p}$ in the case of a $p$-adic random walk. We rely on the results of our previous studies of the distribution of the first return time for a $p$-adic random walk and the results of Takacs on the study of the sojourn time problem for a wide class of random processes. For a $p$-adic random walk we find the mean sojourn time of the trajectory in $\mathbb{Z}_{p}$ and the asymptotics as $t\rightarrow\infty$ of arbitrary moments of the distribution of the sojourn time in $\mathbb{Z}_{p}$. We also discuss some possible applications of our results to the modeling of relaxation processes related to the conformational dynamics of protein.

Application of $p$-adic analysis methods in describing Markov processes on ultrametric spaces isometrically embeddable into $\mathbb{Q}_{p}$

We propose a method for describing stationary Markov processes on the class of ultrametric spaces $\mathbb{U}$ isometrically embeddable in the field $\mathbb{Q}_{p}$ of $p$-adic numbers. This method is capable of reducing the study of such processes to the investigation of processes on $\mathbb{Q}_{p}$. Thereby the traditional machinery of $p$-adic mathematical physics can be applied to calculate the characteristics of stationary Markov processes on such spaces. The Cauchy problem for the Kolmogorov-Feller equation of a~stationary Markov process on such spaces is shown as being reducible to the Cauchy problem for a pseudo-differential equation on $\mathbb{Q}_{p}$ with non-translation-invariant measure $m\left(x\right)d_{p}x$. The spectrum of the pseudo-differential operator of the Kolmogorov-Feller equation on $\mathbb{Q}_{p}$ with measure $m\left(x\right)d_{p}x$ is found. Orthonormal basis of real valued functions for $L^{2}\left(\mathbb{Q}_{p},m\left(x\right)d_{p}x\right)$ is constructed from the eigenfunctions of this operator.

Model of the $p$-Adic Random Walk in a Potential

We consider the $p$-adic random walk model in a potential, which can be viewed as a generalization of $p$-adic random walk models used for description of protein conformational dynamics. This model is based on the Kolmogorov--Feller equations for the distribution function defined on the field of $p$-adic numbers in which the probability of transitions per unit time depends on ultrametric distance between the transition points as well as on function of potential violating the spatial homogeneity of a random process. This equation, which will be called the equation of $p$-adic random walk in a potential, is equivalent to the equation of $p$-adic random walk with modified measure and reaction source. With a special choice of a power-law potential the last equation is shown to have an exact analytic solution. We find the analytic solution of the Cauchy problem for such equation with an initial condition, whose support lies in the ring of integer $p$-adic numbers. We also examine the asymptotic behaviour of the distribution function for large times. It is shown that in the limit $t\rightarrow\infty$ the distribution function tends to the equilibrium solution according to the law, which is bounded from above and below by power laws with the same exponent. Our principal conclusion is that the introduction of a potential in the ultrametric model of conformational dynamics of protein conserves the power-law behaviour of relaxation curves for large times.

On one real basis for $L^2(Q_p)$

We construct new bases of real functions from $L^{2}\left(B_{r}\right)$ and from $L^{2}\left(\mathbb{Q}_{p}\right)$. These functions are eigenfunctions of the $p$-adic pseudo-differential Vladimirov operator, which is defined on a compact set $B_{r}\subset\mathbb{Q}_{p}$ of the field of $p$-adic numbers $\mathbb{Q}_{p}$ or, respectively, on the entire field $\mathbb{Q}_{p}$. A relation between the basis of functions from $L^{2}\left(\mathbb{Q}_{p}\right)$ and the basis of $p$-adic wavelets from $L^{2}\left(\mathbb{Q}_{p}\right)$ is found. As an application, we consider the solution of the Cauchy problem with the initial condition on a compact set for a pseudo-differential equation with a general pseudo-differential operator, which is diagonal in the basis constructed.
