Rényi entropies of the highly-excited states of multidimensional harmonic oscillators by use of strong Laguerre asymptotics

The Rényi entropies $R_{p}[ρ]$, $p>0,\neq 1$ of the highly-excited quantum states of the $D$-dimensional isotropic harmonic oscillator are analytically determined by use of the strong asymptotics of the orthogonal polynomials which control the wavefunctions of these states, the Laguerre polynomials. This Rydberg energetic region is where the transition from classical to quantum correspondence takes place. We first realize that these entropies are closely connected to the entropic moments of the quantum-mechanical probability $ρ_n(\vec{r})$ density of the Rydberg wavefunctions $Ψ_{n,l,\{μ\}}(\vec{r})$; so, to the $\mathcal{L}_{p}$-norms of the associated Laguerre polynomials. Then, we determine the asymptotics $n\to\infty$ of these norms by use of modern techniques of approximation theory based on the strong Laguerre asymptotics. Finally, we determine the dominant term of the Rényi entropies of the Rydberg states explicitly in terms of the hyperquantum numbers ($n,l$), the parameter order $p$ and the universe dimensionality $D$ for all possible cases $D\ge 1$. We find that (a) the Rényi entropy power decreases monotonically as the order $p$ is increasing and (b) the disequilibrium (closely related to the second order Rényi entropy), which quantifies the separation of the electron distribution from equiprobability, has a quasi-Gaussian behavior in terms of $D$.

Asymptotics of sharp constants of Markov-Bernstein inequalities in integral norm with Jacobi weight

The classical A. Markov inequality establishes a relation between the maximum modulus or the $L^{\infty}\left([-1,1]\right)$ norm of a polynomial $Q_{n}$ and of its derivative: $\|Q'_{n}\|\leqslant M_{n} n^{2}\|Q_{n}\|$, where the constant $M_{n}=1$ is sharp. The limiting behavior of the sharp constants $M_{n}$ for this inequality, considered in the space $L^{2}\left([-1,1], w^{(α,β)}\right)$ with respect to the classical Jacobi weight $w^{(α,β)}(x):=(1-x)^α(x+1)^β$, is studied. We prove that, under the condition $|α- β| < 4 $, the limit is $\lim_{n \to \infty} M_{n} = 1/(2 j_ν)$ where $j_ν$ is the smallest zero of the Bessel function $J_ν(x)$ and $2 ν= \mbox{min}(α, β) - 1$.

Hyperelliptic uniformization of algebraic curves of the third order

An algebraic function of the third order plays an important role in the problem of asymptotics of Hermite-Padé approximants for two analytic functions with branch points. This algebraic function appears as the Cauchy transform of the limiting measure of the asymptotic distribution of the poles of the approximants. In many cases this algebraic function can be determined by using the given position of the branch points of the functions which are approximated and by the condition that its Abelian integral has purely imaginary periods. In the present paper we obtain a hyperelliptic uniformization of this algebraic function. In the case when each approximated function has only two branch points, the genus of this function can be equal to 0, 1 (elliptic case) or 2 (ultra-elliptic case). We use this uniformization to parametrize the elliptic case. This parametrization allows us to obtain a numerical procedure for finding this elliptic curve and as a result we can describe the limiting measure of the distribution of the poles of the approximants.

Strong asymptotics for the Pollaczek multiple orthogonal polynomials ensembles

We study the asymptotic properties of a class of multiple orthogonal polynomials with respect to a Nikishin system generated by two measures $(σ_1, σ_2)$ with unbounded supports (${supp}(σ_1) \subset \mathbb{R}_+$, ${supp}(σ_2) \subset \mathbb{R}_-$), and such that the second measure $σ_2$ is discrete. The weak asymptotics for these polynomials was obtained previously by V. Sorokin. We use his result and the Riemann-Hilbert analysis to derive the strong asymptotics of these polynomials and of the reproducing kernel.

Asymptotics for Hermite-Pade rational approximants for two analytic functions with separated pairs of branch points (case of genus 0)

We investigate the asymptotic behavior for type II Hermite-Pade approximation to two functions, where each function has two branch points and the pairs of branch points are separated. We give a classification of the cases such that the limiting counting measures for the poles of the Hermite-Pade approximants are described by an algebraic function of order 3 and genus 0. This situation gives rise to a vector-potential equilibrium problem for three measures and the poles of the common denominator are asymptotically distributed like one of these measures. We also work out the strong asymptotics for the corresponding Hermite-Pade approximants by using a 3x3 Riemann-Hilbert problem that characterizes this Hermite-Pade approximation problem.
