Prospects of observation of gravitationally lensed sources by space submillimeter telescopes

In the current paper we consider the prospects of observation of gravitationally lensed sources in far-infrared and submillimeter wavelength ranges by the future space telescopes equipped with actively cooled main mirrors. We consider the possibility of solving some of the important cosmological and astrophysical scientific tasks by observation of gravitationally lensed sources. The number counts of lensed sources for wavelengths from 70$μm$ up to 2000$μm$ were calculated. We discuss the distribution of lensed sources at different redshifts and magnification coefficients and also mass distribution of lenses. Model sky maps that illustrate the contribution of lensed sources were created.

Review of scientific topics for Millimetron space observatory

This paper describes outstanding issues in astrophysics and cosmology that can be solved by astronomical observations in a broad spectral range from far infrared to millimeter wavelengths. The discussed problems related to the formation of stars and planets, galaxies and the interstellar medium, studies of black holes and the development of the cosmological model can be addressed by the planned space observatory Millimetron (the "Spectr-M" project) equipped with a cooled 10-m mirror. Millimetron can operate both as a single-dish telescope and as a part of a space-ground interferometer with very long baseline.

A solution to the problems of cusps and rotation curves in dark matter halos in the cosmological standard model

We discuss various aspects of the inner structure formation in virialized dark matter (DM) halos that form as primordial density inhomogeneities evolve in the cosmological standard model. The main focus is on the study of central cusps/cores and of the profiles of DM halo rotation curves, problems that reveal disagreements among the theory, numerical simulations, and observations. A method that was developed by the authors to describe equilibrium DM systems is presented, which allows investigating these complex nonlinear structures analytically and relating density distribution profiles within a halo both to the parameters of the initial small-scale inhomogeneity field and to the nonlinear relaxation characteristics of gravitationally compressed matter. It is shown that cosmological random motions of matter `heat up' the DM particles in collapsing halos, suppressing cusp-like density profiles within developing halos, facilitating the formation of DM cores in galaxies, and providing an explanation for the difference between observed and simulated galactic rotation curves. The analytic conclusions obtained within this approach can be confirmed by the N-body model simulation once improved spatial resolution is achieved for central halo regions.

Effect of small scale density perturbations on the formation of dark matter halo profiles

With help of a set of toy N-body models of dark halo formation we study the impact of small scale initial perturbations on the inner density profiles of haloes. We find a significant flattening of the inner slope $α={d \log ρ\over d \log r}$ to $α=-0.5$ in some range of scales and amplitudes of the perturbations (while in the case of absence of these perturbations the NFW profile with $α=-1$ is reproduced). This effect may be responsible for the formation of cuspless galactic haloes.

Superlarge-Scale Structure in N-body Simulations

The simulated matter distribution on large scales is studied using core-sampling, cluster analysis, inertia tensor analysis, and minimal spanning tree techniques. Seven simulations in large boxes for five cosmological models with COBE normalized CDM-like power spectra are studied. The wall-like Super Large Scale Structure with parameters similar to the observed one is found for the OCDM and LCDM models with Omega_m h = 0.3 & 0.245. In these simulations, the rich structure elements with a typical value for the largest extension of \~(30 - 50) h^-1 Mpc incorporate ~40% of matter with overdensity of about 10 above the mean. These rich elements are formed due to the anisotropic nonlinear compression of sheets with original size of ~(15 - 25) h^{-1} Mpc. They surround low-density regions with a typical diameter ~(50 - 70) h^{-1} Mpc. The statistical characteristics of these structures are found to be approximately consistent with observations and theoretical expectations. The cosmological models with higher matter density Ω_m=1 in CDM with Harrison-Zeldovich or tilted power spectra cannot reproduce the characteristics of the observed galaxy distribution due to the very strong disruption of the rich structure elements. Another model with a broken scale invariant initial power spectrum (BCDM) shows not enough matter concentration in the rich structure elements.
