How massive are the superfluid cores in the Crab and Vela pulsars and why their glitch-events are accompanied with under and overshootings?

The Crab and Vela are well-studied glitching pulsars and the data obtained sofar should enable us to test the reliability of models of their internal structures. Very recently it was proposed that glitching pulsars are embedded in bimetric spacetime: their incompressible superfluid cores (SuSu-cores) are embedded in flat spacetime, whereas the ambient compressible and dissipative media are enclosed in Schwarzschild spacetime. In this letter we apply this model to the Crab and Vela pulsars and show that a newly born pulsar initially of $1.25\text{M}_{\odot}$ and an embryonic SuSu-core of $0.029\text{M}_{\odot}$ could evolve into a \ARZL{Crab-like}\ARZR pulsar after 1000 years and into a \ARZL{Vela-like}\ARZR pulsar 10000 years later to finally fade away as an invisible dark energy object after roughly 10 Myr. Based thereon we infer that the Crab and the Vela pulsars should have SuSu-cores of $0.15\text{M}_{\odot}$ and $0.55\text{M}_{\odot}$, respectively. Futhermore, the under- and overshootings phenomena observed to accompany the glitch events of the Vela pulsar are rather a common phenomenon of glitching pulsars that can be well-explained within the framework of bimetric spacetime.

Glitching pulsars: unraveling the interactions of general relativity with quantum fields in the strong field regimes

We present a modification of our previous model for the mechanisms underlying the glitch phenomena in pulsars and young neutron stars. Accordingly, pulsars are born with embryonic cores comprising of purely incompressible superconducting gluon-quark superfluid (henceforth SuSu-cores). As the ambient medium cools and spins down due to emission of magnetic dipole radiation, the mass and size of SuSu-cores are set to grow discretely with time, in accordance with the Onsager-Feynmann analysis of superfluidity. Presently, we propose that the spacetime embedding glitching pulsars is dynamical and of bimetric nature: inside SuSu-cores the spacetime must be flat, whereas the surrounding region, where the matter is compressible and dissipative, the spacetime is Schwarzschild. It is further proposed that the topological change of spacetime is derived by the strong nuclear force, whose operating length scales is found to increase with time to reach O(1) cm at the end of the luminous lifetimes of pulsars. The model presented here model is in line with the recent radio and GW observations of pulsars and NSs.

Do massive neutron stars end as invisible dark energy objects?

Astronomical observations reveal a gap in the mass spectrum of relativistic objects: neither black holes nor neutron stars having masses in the range of 2 - 5$\,\MSun$ have ever been observed. Based on the solution of the TOV equation modified to include a universal scalar field $\cal{H},$ we argue that all moderate and massive neutron stars should end invisible dark energy objects (DEOs). Triggered by the $\cal{H}-$baryonic matter interaction, a phase transition from normal compressible nuclear matter into an incompressible quark-superfluid is shown to occur at roughly $3$ times the nuclear density. At the transition front, the scalar field is set to inject energy at the maximum possible rate via a non-local interaction potential $V_ϕ= a_0 r^2 + b_0.$ This energy creates a global confining bag, inside which a sea of freely moving quarks is formed in line with the asymptotic freedom of quantum chromodynamics. The transition front, $r_f,$ creeps from inside-to-outside to reach the surface of the object on the scale of Gyrs or even shorter, depending on its initial compactness. Having $r_f$ reached $R_\star,$ then the total injected dark energy via $V_ϕ$ turns NSs into invisible DEOs. While this may provide an explanation for the absence of stellar BHs with $M_{BH}\leq 5 \MSun$ and NSs with $M_{NS}\geq 2 \MSun$, it also suggests that DEOs might have hidden connection to dark matter and dark energy in cosmology.

An implicit advection scheme for modeling relativistic shocks with high Lorentz factors

Jet-plasmas emanating from the vicinity of relativistic objects and in gamma-ray bursts have been observed to propagate with Lorentz factors laying in the range between one and several hundreds. On the other hand, the numerical studies of such flows have been focussed so far mainly on the lowest possible range of Lorentz factors $Γ,$ specifically, on the regime $1\leq Γ\leq 5.$ Therefore, relativistic flows with high $Γ-$factors have poorly studied, as most numerical methods are found to encounter severe numerical difficulties or even become numerically unstable for $Γ\gg 1. In this paper we present an implicit numerical advection scheme for modeling the propagation of relativistic plasmas with shocks, discuss its consistency with respect to both the internal and total energy formulation in general relativity. Using the total energy formulation, the scheme is found to be viable for modeling moving shocks with moderate Lorentz factors, though with relatively small Courant numbers. In the limit of high Lorentz factors, the internal energy formulation in combination with a fine-tuned artificial viscosity is much more robust and efficient. We confirm our conclusions by performing test calculations and compare the results with analytical solutions of the relativistic shock tube problem. The aim of the present modification is to enhance the robustness of the general relativistic implicit radiative MHD solver: GR-I-RMHD (http://www1.iwr.uni-heidelberg.de/groups/compastro/home/gr-i-mhd-solver) and extend its range of applications into the high $Γ-$regime.}

On the viability of gravitational Bose-Einstein condensates as alternatives to supermassive black holes

Black holes are inevitable mathematical outcome of spacetime-energy coupling in general relativity. Currently these objects are of vital importance for understanding numerous phenomena in astrophysics and cosmology. However, neither theory nor observations have been capable of unequivocally prove the existence of black holes or granting us an insight of what their internal structures could look like, therefore leaving researchers to speculate about their nature. In this paper the reliability of supermassive Bose-Einstein condensates (henceforth SMBECs) as alternative to supermassive black holes is examined. Such condensates are found to suffer of a causality problem that terminates their cosmological growth toward acquiring masses typical for quasars and triggers their self-collapse into supermassive black holes (SMBHs). It is argued that a SMBEC-core most likely would be subject to an extensive deceleration of its rotational frequency as well as to vortex-dissipation induced by the magnetic fields that thread the crust, hence diminishing the superfluidity of the core. Given that rotating superfluids between two concentric spheres have been verified to be dynamically unstable to non axi-symmetric perturbations, we conclude that the remnant energy stored in the core would be sufficiently large to turn the flow turbulent and dissipative and subsequently lead to core collapse bosonova. The feasibility of a conversion mechanism of normal matter into bosonic condensates under normal astrophysical conditions is discussed as well. We finally conclude that in lack of a profound theory for quantum gravity, BHs should continue to be the favorite proposal for BH candidates.
